10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Sadly, I'm unsubscribing from this thread now. If anyone needs us, we're only a PM away. Happy planning!

We are still considering canceling our cruise, too. I haven't given up yet, but am looking into the land/sea or a week in WDW instead to save money. I have been lurking, and am sorry everyone has had such tragedy lately.

I am still planning for the cruise... just in case things work out well. For excursions, we are planning:

Key West: southernmost point, lighthouse, Kino's sandals
Grand Cayman: Seaworld Explorer sub and then either Royal Palms or Sea Grape Beach - just somewhere nice with restaurant and clean bathrooms!
Cozumel:Paradise Beach for the day, and maybe some shopping.
Castaway Cay: Mainly the family beach. We will probably rent bikes and do the scavenger hunt, too.

Suggestion for the spreadsheet - put a link to it by port on the front page. That would also be good for the FE gift list, DISmeets, etc. Love the graphic. I'm in the minority... I liked the second one!

Hello all-

This is Jacquelyn from Pa just checking in. I am a huge fan of Door Magnets and I love #1. It is SO cute. Thanks for making it! :)

I have a dining question that maybe someone can answer for me. DH and I have second seating and obviously are a party of 2. We like to sit with others and meet new people (especially DIS people and other Disney lovers!!) but on our last 2 cruises we have been paired with not-so-happy-campers. It made dinner a little weird & awkward. We are trying to decide what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do DIS people try to have dinner together? Just wondering...... :confused3

Ok-that's all for now. Dh and I are so excited for our cruise. Come on October.....

Welcome biroberts!!!! I've added you to post #1.

Ginger: I've updated your family list, too.

Hope everyone is getting used to the time change. Some of my co-workers were extra sleepy today!

Some folks link there ressies which will put you sitting together. Janet and I have the late sitting and would be happy to set with you. It is just the two of us. We are celebrating 21 years of being together. If the fact that we are a same sex couple does not brother you let us know.

Hello Fellow Disney-ians!
:cloud9:
My family and I will be joiningyou for our 2nd cruise on the Magic. Our first one was Oct 2004. It wil be myself, DH, DD(14) and DD(11). I was on he boards with our last cruise and it was great. The girls met up with kids with their same interest and ages and thay had a ball!

Last time we went we did not go to Cozumel due to hurricane damage so I can't help with shore trips there. We went to Costa Maya instead and went horsebakc riding, it was really cool! In Key West we just hung out then took the "Tales of Margaritaville" tour. It's for Jimmy Buffet fans and was a lot f fun, just be sure to wear walking shoes. :woohoo: In Cayman we did stingray city with Red Sail Sports. It was a great time and not too crowded. We just had rough waters that day, the stingray are awesome! :goodvibes At Castaway Cay we snorkled then DH and I went for a couples massage in a cabana at Castaway Cay. It was verrrrryyyyyy relaxing!:upsidedow

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Welcome to the group. We have a geart group here.

I was messing around with making magnets for our stateroom and came up with two graphic ideas that could represent our group. Being new, I can't yet post images (at least I don't think I can!) so I posted them at flickr.com and I posted the links below. I would appreciate honest feedback. I don't want to hoist something on the group that doesn't fit. I promise I can handle the truth! ;)

Option 1 - Buccaneers Take the West!

Option 2 - The Buccaneers be takin the West!

What do you think?

I like #2 best but I see I am very out numbered. So I guess # 1 it will be. They are both great. Lois

We are celebrating 21 years of being together.

21 years together! That is wonderful! I feel like such a minority nowadays when I tell people we just had our 14 year anniversary. We only have 1 set of (close) friends married longer than us.

As of right now, we are also late seating, although hoping to switch. I'm hoping we are seated with a family with kids my kids ages. They are so excited about the cruise, and I want everything there to make it special for them.

I hope that you are able to get the early seating. I understand why that seems better with kids.

Thank you for the compliment on our almost 21 years. 14 years is something to be proud of as well. It takes a lot of work to keep a relationship going. Especially when you have little ones. My baby is now 31 years old. Man that makes me feel old. I turned 53 years old in January.

Well got to get ready for another long day at work. I'll check in later. Lois

Thanks Lois and everyone that gave feedback! It looks like Option #1 is it. I will work up a few different sizes and post them shortly. :sunny: Also my husband and I would love to join a table of DISers. The idea of eating with complete and total strangers still feels odd.

WELCOME Biroberts! :tigger:

I just sent you an email & PM, Lois! DH & I would love to dine with you! We would love to sit together!
Congrats on the 21 years! That's wonderful!
Anyone else care to join us?

Congratulations to Lois and Janet! 21 years is a milestone. Dave and I will be married 24 years by the time we cruise (our anniversary is 9/22) Second marriage. Lois you are a kid! I'll be 57 by the time we cruise and my baby will be 35 years old; my oldest will be 37 this year.

Have a great rest of the week everyone.

Jan

Just finished catching up on everything. Alot going on.
Have been busy with DS13 and baseball. Just home from a game with the 2 little ones and he is still playing.
Cant wait for vacation. We all need it soooooo bad.
Cant wait for the door magnets. We had a few 2 years ago when we cruised and the boys loved them.
They still have no idea that we are taking another cruise. Trying to keep it from them till we get there. Made it allthe way to the port last time.
Off to get them to bed. Have a great night everyone
Kim

Hey Kim! Good to "see" you again. Isn't it amazing how busy kids' sports will keep you?

I'm fighting a horrible cold, so I'm going to turn in early. Hope everyone has a great "humpday". I may let my student teacher do some teaching tomorrow because my head is so foggy right now.

Talk to you all later!
Lori P. :)

My best friend is a teacher and she has a student teacher as well. This is her second one this year. And, this one's giving her fits! Her first one was such a breeze....

Can anyone beat 25 years together? DH and I are taking this cruise for our celebration.

Lois, 21 years in a marriage, same sex or not, is pretty amazing this day and age! Congrats!

I read that Seven Mile Beach in Cozumel is one of the top beaches in the world. Anyone ever been there?

Okay, Jan, I have totally lost it! We all have EARLY seating! It will be our first time ever and I guess that's what messed me up. I did that due to Tater (that's Nate's nickname which his other grandmother gave him) being so young and having an early bedtime.

I am pretty sure that Seven Mile Beach is on Grand Cayman. And I agree it sounds fantastic, though I have never been. I think we will be taking a snorkel trip while in Grand Cayman.

Looks like paradise!

Thanks for the correction! I knew it was at one of our stops! ;)

If anyone is contemplating the Sting Ray City Tour on Grand Cayman I can highly recommend it.

My kids would freak out with the stingrays... and I probably would, too! I can't handle being in the water and having fish bump into me. A stingray would cause a panic attack! I want to do the semi-sub and see the shipwrecks and reefs, then find a nice chair somewhere to relax. My kids love the beach, so we will be spending a lot of time there at all ports except Key West.

we are definitely doing Stingray City!!! It was cancelled on our last cruise and we were bummed.

We have done sting rays in grand caymen before, and it was the best ever. Thought I would not like it, but will be doing again this time depending what DS6 will be able to do, the others will love it(I hope). No other clues about what we will do, probably lots of beach time. The boys think we are going to Flordia and staying on the beach for a week. (the least i can do is let them see beach when we are in port):rotfl:
Off to study for a test. scheduled for noon sat. wish me luck, not to sure about this class.
Kim
