10/28/15 - 4nt. Halloween Magic Double Dip from Miami

Is it sad that I am excited about becoming a dis veteran? Took me over 4 years but I finally got my 500 posts up. It's the simple things in life that please me sometimes.:banana::banana:

Congrats! With my lowly 300-something posts, i get it! :)

congratulations Joy.

I have a lot of fun pics of the reimagineered Magic from Dec 2013 including my husband on the AquaDunk; an inside cabin 11A and food porn. I'd be happy to post pics if anybody new is curious to see the ship or anybody else wants to check them out.

Would love to see pictures. Was last on the Magic in 1998! :crazy2: I'm sure it looks pretty different these days.

Received my Passporter guide today. We only cruise about once every five years so I find I need to read up on it all each time. Wondering about dining rotation. Will pirate night still be on the 3rd night of our cruise or will it move to Halloween, which is our 4th night.

Have any of you cruised over Halloween in the past and be willing to share your experience?

In my months of researching DCL I recall reading something somewhere that convinced me that there will be both a Pirate Night and a Halloween Night event since we will actually be on board on the 31st. But I can't remember where I saw that information. It was likely from reading trip reports of past sailings over Halloween.

So I am planning both Pirate night outfits and Halloween costumes. Between that and 2 CC visits, we will be packing quite a lot in to a mere 4 day cruise. Whew!!!

I am wondering about what the latest is on the Character meet and greets and other events. We are big into Characters and I've read that on some ships one needs to get tickets for certain meet and greets right on embarkation day.

I guess the best info will be available closer to the date - especially since they seem to be changing things up by adding Frozen to the ships.

Great! it's picture time.

Welcome to The AQUADUNK

it hangs way over the edge

It wasn't running when we first boarded the ship and for most of our 4 day trip.

No water = closed.

water = :thumbsup2

JQ couldn't wait to try it!

Pretty HIGH up at the funnel where you climb to go even higher!

a few instructions before entering the cryogenic chamber!

ready to go!

nicely done. I score it a 10.0

He immediately goes for Round 2

and the score?

missed on the landing - 5.0! too funny :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks JQ. Excellent demonstration.

We were on them Magic this past summer and got tickets for Anna and Elsa as soon as we boarded from guest services. I'm sure that was the only meet with tickets needed. However I'm sure I have read on other threads that you might need tickets now for thee princess gathering.

You are probably right but since we're only a 4nt sail there's not a whole lot of information out there. Next time we call the DCL we'll try to find out.

right. Until we get feedback on the new Frozen activities there's no way to know if the ticketed meet and greets are changing.

Thank you for sharing the pics. The aquadunk looks great, I just need to pluck up the courage to go on it!

DD is massively into characters as well so I will also need to be organized in getting any tickets for meet and greets!

Does anyone know which princesses are currently on the Magic?

Check out the Twist 'n' Spout Waterslide:

and the Aqua Lab

**note** under that white canvas tarp roof beyond the pool is the Nephew's splash zone for toddlers

Past November - Cinderella, belle, tiana, sleeping beauty, anna, elsa. The sailing before ours also had rapunzel.

We were on a 3-night Dream cruise in 2013 and a 4-night Dream cruise last Oct.

On the 3-nighter, halloween and pirate night were both the second night. On the 4-nighter, the second night was halloween and the third night was pirate night (i may have those reversed, but either way, we had one of each night). on both cruises, first night was cruise casual at dinner and last night was dress-up optional.

from what i could tell from reviews and trip reports, most of the halloween cruises seemed to follow the above pattern, but since halloween actually falls on our last night of this upcoming cruise, i don't know if they will deviate from that so we can actually celebrate halloween on halloween. fwiw, i was on a royal caribbean cruise on halloween a few years ago and they still celebrated halloween a night early. i guess they know most people need to pack their costumes away the last night so their suitcases can be picked up by 10 pm or whenever.

halloween activities were spread throughout all the days of the cruises.

Thank you, I'm trying to manage DD expectations after our trip to WDW which was princess overload!

sorry about this post. photobucket is crazy right now.
I'll repost the 11A photos when the site is running ok.

This will be our 4th cruise, but the first without a Sea day. All the ticketed princess gatherings and Anna and Elsa meet and greets were on Sea days on our last cruise on the Magic. It will be interesting to see how many gatherings are offered and how they handled the ticketed Anna and Elsa events...plus squeeze in Pirate night and Halloween. There were non-ticketed princess gatherings on the port days.

Disney Magic - Inside Stateroom 7543 - Deck 7 Starboard Forward/Midship - CAT 11A
If you look at this deckplan, you'll see it's right next to the midship elevators.
http://www.cruisecritic.com/disney-magic-deck-plans/dp/?shipID=33&deck=7

We were right off the midship elevators - which have additional elevator bays compared to aft and forward.

they're not that big and can get crowded so we opted for the stairs as much as possible.

Starboard side stateroom directory

The door and hallway looking all the way forward (7500 to 7606). That's our cabin - first one on the left.

the hallway looking all the way back

the stateroom carts take up some space during the day

We love the inside staterooms and won't hesitate to book one if a balcony is too expensive of an upcharge. They're really not as small as they seem in this photo.

Outlets and small drawers on both sides of the bed

looking back toward the door. Sleeps 4 with a pull down bunk in the ceiling above the sofa that converts to a single bed.
(we were a pty of 2 and never used the bunks, but this link discusses sleeping capacity for the magic vs dream inside staterooms and includes a photo of what the bunk looks like opened up. Eventhough the photo is from the Dream, these bunks are identical to the Magic) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2638590

full length mirror and 1 door for the bath (no - split) shown on right.
double closet on left.

These rooms have the smaller desk - compared to the cat 4's

It's really only 3 drawers on the right. 2 deep and 1 shallow

Inside the desk drawer were postcards and stationary.

desk outlets including a plug for the portable hair dryer provided in one of the drawers (no longer have to use the one in the bathroom)

They have mini fridges now. No more ice boxes.

Dual closet w/shelving and Velcro inside the closet doors to keep them shut.

Thank you for all the great pics. They are making me even more excited about the cruise (if that's possible!)

You are very welcome! I've got a few of our 11A bathroom which is for the std staterooms only. I don't know if anyone booked the CAT 11's ours was were really nice and very comfortable.

They did an incredible job during the reimagineering. the ship is gorgeous! Every time I look over those photos I want to take another cruise. So many great things on the Disney Magic.

We are going to have such a good time.

Awesome pics poison ivy! I went on the re-imagined Magic in 2014. My pics are housed on flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/jadedjojo/sets/72157641214789815/ if anyone wanted to see them. I have some of the restaurants, bars, kids clubs, etc. I love to wander the ship at odd times to take pics, so everywhere is eerily empty!

A note on the Halloween sailings- we've done 3 cruises during Halloween, and they've really amped up their festivities. The Halloween on the High Seas sailing on the Fantasy this past October was insane. They had a massive party on the 30th (my birthday, so I pretended it was all for me lol), and everyone dressed up. My hubby was giddy to be in the elevator with an adult full costumed storm trooper. ::yes:: There was trick or treating for the kiddos too of course... that has been a staple of all of the Halloween cruises we've been on.
