10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with BOB) - Thread #8

So there are floods in the midwest, and out here on the west coast we have fires. This has been my sunset for the last week.

The smoke has been so bad that we had to keep the kids in the classroom and lunchroom for their last week of school (not fun).

Just curious: where do you live? We lived in California before we moved to Virginia. There were always summer fires... in fact, we drove toward them along with a bunch of other lookie-loos once. Crazy, but the fires actually have a beauty of their own! (We lived in Orange County... worked in Long Beach. We were just down I5 from Disneyland!)

Central Valley.
Your right there are always fires, but this is bad. The fires aren't really close to us, yet the smoke almost looks like fog in places. They say the Valley is like a bowl and the smoke just sets in it. We are supposed to have a system come in that will either A) Blow it all out B) just swirl it around and make it worse or C) do nothing. I'm really hoping for A, I haven't been able to walk all week because of it.

Since I was at a Caribbean party tonight, I thought I'd get us all back to thinking about the cruise............

For those of you who have been to St. Thomas before, what is there besides the beach? I can easily look this all up but I'd like opinions as well.......

Since I was at a Caribbean party tonight, I thought I'd get us all back to thinking about the cruise............

There is the cable car up above the port. Mountain View, and another house/museum on top of the island. I have pictures somewhere if you'd like me to post (not of the cable car, but I know Andy has that )

I am sorry if I offended you in any way. I was not trying to trash talk my family at all. I am trying to do just the oppisite. I am trying to get help from friens and people who have gone through things similair to give me some advice on how to handle it. I understand that this is a DIS board but I thought since others have been sharing about their personal lives that it would be ok. I will respect your request and no longer discuss it.

Orient and Maho are on St. Maarten.

And yes, we've been to St. John. I can post some lovely photos from there too.

Unfortunately, our only time there, we did the island tour, not the beach break. We may just do the beach break next time.

I have had to put the cruise on the back burner because of our upcoming trip, but after hearing those steel drums tonight, it's got me in the mood to cruise. I wish DCL would use steel drums for the sailaway party.

If anyone else has reviews/ideas about our ports of call, please let them known. I know we still have a lot of time to go, but it's fun to dream until then. Oh, and pics would be awesome, too.

My husband and I have been on here for only a few weeks. I enjoy reading the conversations! I jump in whenever I can. The hardest part sometimes is remembering real names when I want to reply to someone! There is a list at the beginning of the thread, but it's hard to check back when you are in the middle!

Well, good morning people and happy Friday to everyone

Neils off ALLLLLLL weekend He's due home tonight til Monday

We have lots of stuff organised to do so I hope the weather co-operates!

So far its bright and sunnyish.

I'm out for lunch today with a friend - its her birthday tomorrow so I'm treating her. Its a chinese banquet buffet - eek! - loads of yummy dishes and lots of calories

Milkshake for brekkie, no mid morning snack, banquet for lunch - no alcohol, no afternoon snack, maybe a smoothie for dinner if I'm feeling good, or just a small dinner, no alcohol in the evening or snacks.
Hopefully it shouldnt be toooooo far over my allowance for the day
