I wouldn't mind going to Gettysburg while they're here too. I may be the only one though.

For those of you who have been to WDW in July..........

Do the parks ever close due to full capacity?

Do you think the crowds will be a little less full because of gas prices (people staying home)?

I have been discouraged by many about going in July, but we just couldn't avoid it. Oh well, we will work the system...go early, leave early, swim at the hotel/rest, go back late and stay late. I am lucky that my kids are a little older and have no problems staying up late and going "commando" on the parks. And this time we'll be there for 2 weeks, so we won't have to go "commando." no comments, boys.....

we went for 2 weeks in july for over 25 years. thats when our plant shutdown was, so we had no choice. just have fun and dont let the crowds bother you. fastpass has made it easier to see everything anyway. look for there to be more tour groups from brazil and such.
we love the heat, so that never bothered us.:goodvibes
we've never experienced them closing a park in july due too crowds.
now xmas is a different story.
if things get too busy, just hop on a bench or curb and people watch for a while.:rotfl2: thats what we do.
when ds was little, we sat down 2 hrs early for main st. elec parade.
got him a pair of LARGE rubber ears from the magic shop, had him put them on and sit on the curb. it was hilarious to watch as people tried not to stare at him as they went by.:lmao: :thumbsup2
as for the commando comment....i wont comment, but i'm thinking it.:smokin:

Have you tried TourGuide Mike?
If not, I'd recommend it.

Oh, and be sure to wear underwear. LOL

What exactly is TourGuide Mike?

well you see, tour guide mike is this slightly balding elderly dude with a huge scar on his chest. you hire him to take you all over disney world so he can show you the hotspots. sometimes he bring his wife(lets call her tart girl)
and she's a lot of fun. sometimes her brings his neighbor friend(lets call her cinnamon) shes fun too and has a great "personality".:lovestruc
despite what you may hear, he always wears underwear.::yes::
if you dont mind paying his way, i'm sure you'll have a good time.::yes::

Here are some CC pics.

"what do you mean we have to go home tomorrow?":(
"cant we live here on cc?":cutie: :cutie:

Well, we had another cat fight at work today. Those two chicks can just go at it all day long. I put my iPod on and cranked the volume. Listened to Disney all afternoon. That was kind of interesting.

oh yeah and this!!

That would be fine except I hear that Tart Girl is now a "Sugar Momma" with that new job........Maybe she can pay for all of us.:rotfl:

If not, maybe we'll just see each other at Christmas.:thumbsup2

The parks were crowded last week end. The only day in July I ever heard they closed were july 4th. I have been there at Christmas when they closed for capacity and it is not fun. Hour lines just for food and bathrooms. I would bring sandwiches so you don't have to waste your time having lunch and make a res for dinner. Bring water bottles too so you can fill them in the fountains. It's $2.00 for a water or soda.

The fountains aren't chilled anymore. Disney has caught onto this.

BTW does anyone know if the talking water fountains still exist in Epcot.

The bad news for Bendy and her inheritances is their are one armed bandits in all the boozers in Germany.....Bendy love the Germans do EVERYTHING anally well, from posting letters to stealing sun beds......:rolleyes1

Careful Chris...my Niece's fiance is German and he's lovely.:thumbsup2 :cutie:

Last week I got cold water out of the water fountains.

  :yay: :yay: :cool1: :cool1:

They've seen sense.

What were they doing instead of having the characters come to your table?

We had a character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe on 5/22 and they all came to our table.

Matthew - it was called Island Jam. You had breakfast and them the characters came out and danced in the centre of the room with the children joining in. No chance of posing with the characters. Now...if they would re-instate the autograph sessions and stop autographs at the same time as character photos..... Well, thats my soapbox moment over and done with.

Dinner tonight

Roasted butternut squash with garlic and a teeny bit of french goats cheese - absolutely delicious! - only used the goats cheese as a substitute for sour cream and it was even better!:yay:

with chicken, mushrooms, onions, sweetcorn, peas

Andy and Cass - would you post some of your dinners to give me more ideas please?

We're out with friends tomorrow night - chinese..... its my one chance to eat nuts - I ADORE chicken satay. I am soooooo going to try and be good and not have too much wine either.

Matthew,

They had Mickey's Island Jam - basically the characters came out and did dances with the kids, and at one point they did a "paraade" around the room. It was kinda fun - if you had no intentions of actually EATING your breakfast.

It was kinda like this:

Although, I can't say too many bad things about the character breakfast, 'cuz Thomas got to dance with Stitch:

No, I never get tired of posting that pic!

Ok, so my inlaws are headed here for a week. I've asked what they want to see and since they've been here already years ago, their requests were on a short list. They want to go to 8th & I to see the USMC silent drill team (tickets have been sold out for months-oh well, we'll go to the Iwo Memorial and see them perform there-no tix required), and they want to ride the Metro (we were raised in a REALLY small town). That's it.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? I am also going to take them to the Holocaust Museum bec/ Emily has been begging me to go there, so my MIL asked me to wait for her to accompany us.

My MIL is a retired school teacher (middle school math) and my FIL drives a truck, used to be the owner of a shrimp wholesale (the shrimp boats would drive right up to his shop and unload--we always had fresh seafood when he owned it)....

Ok, so hit me with some suggestions. Matthew I know you're close to DC. Anything?

I think I remember Scott telling me he liked the spy museum. I'll ask him about it.

The Smithsonian has the new Udvar Hazy Air & Space Museum out at Dulles Airport. The exhibits are much larger than the Main Air & Space Museum downtown. Admission is free, but parking is $12 per car. They have the Space Shuttle Enterprise (The real one), the Enola Gay B-29, an Air France Concorde, SR-71 Blackbird, etc. It is well worth the trip. The museum is located on the south side of the airport property. You enter off of Route 28 north of Route 50. ::yes::

They also have an IMAX Theater there. A McDonalds is also on site for lunch.

Matthew

Scott likes that one also. (Can you all tell I send Scott with Alex to go "learn" things. I'm not a museumie kind a gal.)

   for the character breakfast! It was too chaotic for me the "new" way. Ironically I think we'll skip it since my kids won't be with us.......
