10/24/2009 Bash on the Boat (I'm with B.O.B) Thread #22

I was stuck in Jersey/PA traffic coming home. The traffic started in PA, then crossed the stateline in Jersey due to paving. It was a very long drive. It took my 90 minutes longer to get home then it did getting to Lancaster on Sunday!

I just changed our post cruise ground transportation. We are taking our time getting off the ship, so we keep our rental a 24 hr rental. Instead of getting 2 cars, we are getting one 12 passenger van. That will be better for us all to stay together. There is 7 of us, but I don't want to take a chance at getting a minivan without a large well in the back like our Sienna. We will have luggage for 7 of us.

Lots of room in a 12 passenger van! One is in my driveway, so I am very familiar with them. I just drove it to PA and back.

Hiya Jen

Firstly HUGE HUGS :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Please dont think of it as not great news.... think of it as a diagnosis and a hurdle you need to jump:hug:

Teachers are well equipped to deal with ADHD, its a lot more common than you think. I'm sure you can work together with his teachers and things will be all fine, but meanwhile please feel free to offload on here - we all ahve good ears and are happy to listen:hug:

Ooooooooooooh I love all those ideas, but especially number 2.

Thats a good one because you'll all have cameras out anyway so it wouldnt look suspicious. :thumbsup2

How romantic:lovestruc

Jen I agree with Karen. There is so much information about ADHD today. All teachers have been trained on this subject. Your son will be just fine. Just stay in touch with the teacher and read all you can about how you can help him. Most important be patient and understanding. He will be a okay once the meds kick in and work properly. Watch he will become someone big someday. CEO of some huge organization. Diane

It's time for #15,000
and wouldn't you know,
I might as well
claim an FO.

I called that my poem
and would leave it at that,
but that would be cheap
and I'd look like a rat.

I don't want you to think
that I am a slack,
So I'll finish my poem
to keep Karen off my back.

Six months from today
many BOBers will arrive,
two days after that,
the party will come alive.

We'll go to St. John
and snorkel Trunk Bay,
Then party at QC Pool
on our sea day.

The sea may be rough,
or it could be calm,
I can't wait for Castaway
and sitting under a palm.

I put this verse in
to see who is paying attention,
So Karen if you're reading,
I get no detention.

We'd love to sail with Ducky
and go watch him draw,
But fear Rockin Bar D
and Dawg in a Bra.

After the repo,
You'd think I'd learned my lessons,
but if you want to find AFEG and me,
we'll be in Sessions.

But now this poem like the cruise
must come to an ends,
and we'll remember this trip
with all of our friends.

I hope you liked my poem,
It's the best I could do,
If you'd like something else,
I say................

Great Job Jeff.:banana::banana: Karen will sure be proud of you. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Diane

We've been gone all day. Went to Kittery, on the Maine-NH border to meet my college roommate for lunch. It was a good time. Stopped at our favorite beach (York) on the way down & had a nice walk. Now I'll do my quotes.

I like him too - I just didn't like his vote & the way his dad got him to do it after promising Kristin's mom he would take care of her. Maybe they could bring Kristin back & pair her with Mike's brother! Or with that other kid, Dan

One of my grandson's has ADD - my DIL had a really godd book. I ask her the title & let you know.

Yes, the BIG SCREEN!

How do I sign up?

That's a good one too.

Me too

Me too again.

What a huge piece of cheescake that is, Heather!

I also love your jokes!!!

You call that working? Sounds more like retirement to me.
Walked on a beach today - York Beach in southern Maine.

It would take more than that to scare me off!

Good night all,

N

I love York Beach and Kittery Maine. I use to love the outlet malls there. Diane

I would suggest a Pluto's lunch meet, but I think that will happen everyday automatically. Even if you come at different times, I think AFEG will always be near getting his strips.

Well then I will have good company because I frequent the place ;)

In case you read my earlier version of my poem, I have now updated it. Click the quote above if you'd like to read it.

Much better :thumbsup2

Gahhhhhhh! I've had the a very stressful day off today.

I'm preparing for my yearly LAN Party. (a group of people get together with their computers and game against each other for an entire weekend.) As a result I decided to upgrade my computer to a Quad Core CPU (the manual of my motherboard states that it is supported) and I thought that I would upgrade my videocard as well. The one that I had was good but not "bragging rights" good and I'm planning on upgrading my son's computer with the parts from mine anyway so it's like getting two for one.

So today my new CPU and Videocard come in via UPS early in the morning. Christmas in April Whoo Hoo. Easy upgrade I'll be online within a half hour and checking out my new gaming monster.

I pop in the CPU and the videocard and plug in the machine and..... nothing...... Just a blinking light on the screen! Well, I pop on Stuart's computer and look up the manufacturer of the motherboard to see if my CPU is supported. After an hour of looking, I gave up. They just made it too hard to find out. I have a cardinal rule about system building, once a CPU and Motherboard is up and running paired, they should never be separated. Well, I broke the rule and am now paying the price.

I figured that I would replace the old CPU and fire it up. Nothing. I've hosed my motherboard. GAHHHH! Now, My motherboards are not just placed in and plugged in. I take great pains to bundle the wiring so that everything is clean inside. So replacing the motherboard is going to be a couple of hours of work. I run out get a new mobo (More expense!) and spend the rest of the afternoon installing it. I plug everything in and.... Nothing...... I'm beside myself by now.

At least now the BIOS is posting and the computer is recogizing the CPU, RAM and videocard. So everything is working. I decided to see if I can boot to CD. In goes Windows Vista DVD and a reboot, windows works. But It does not see my previous installation of Vista! Here's why (after much thought and cussing) I upgraded my installation to Vista SP1 and my installation disk is only Vista. After HOURS on a chat room with a microsoft tech support person, I was able to reinstall Vista at the LOSS of all of my settings. Now I have to re-install all of my programs and then direct them to the data on the computer. I'll be at this for the rest of the week.

So my less than 1/2 hour upgrade ended up sucking up my entire day off! Well, at least it works now. Now I need to clean up the wiring and close it back up but I think that it will need to wait until my next day off.

Lesson of the day. Don't upgrade your hardware too much, Vista will balk and lock you out of your own system!

i need to get one of those opening day buttons. ebay here i come.(stay away Karen.:rolleyes1)

I don't think I've seen Neil with such a smile on his face as in this picture!
