Jen I agree with Karen. There is so much information about ADHD today. All teachers have been trained on this subject. Your son will be just fine. Just stay in touch with the teacher and read all you can about how you can help him. Most important be patient and understanding. He will be a okay once the meds kick in and work properly. Watch he will become someone big someday. CEO of some huge organization. Diane
Great poem Jeff, there is some hope for us number crunchers.
Congrats!! Future DDIL is a special needs teacher and will tell you that the parents are the biggest influence on the success of the children.![]()
Thanks.
Yes, usually us "right brain" thinkers can't cross over to the "left brain" for any creativity.
(I do have the sides of the brain correct, right? Or are they reverse, left side is technical and right side is creative?)
That is so me, I need help with decorating, clothes etc....
Gahhhhhhh! I've had the a very stressful day off today.
I'm preparing for my yearly LAN Party. (a group of people get together with their computers and game against each other for an entire weekend.) As a result I decided to upgrade my computer to a Quad Core CPU (the manual of my motherboard states that it is supported) and I thought that I would upgrade my videocard as well. The one that I had was good but not "bragging rights" good and I'm planning on upgrading my son's computer with the parts from mine anyway so it's like getting two for one.
So today my new CPU and Videocard come in via UPS early in the morning. Christmas in April Whoo Hoo. Easy upgrade I'll be online within a half hour and checking out my new gaming monster.
I pop in the CPU and the videocard and plug in the machine and..... nothing...... Just a blinking light on the screen! Well, I pop on Stuart's computer and look up the manufacturer of the motherboard to see if my CPU is supported. After an hour of looking, I gave up. They just made it too hard to find out. I have a cardinal rule about system building, once a CPU and Motherboard is up and running paired, they should never be separated. Well, I broke the rule and am now paying the price.
I figured that I would replace the old CPU and fire it up. Nothing. I've hosed my motherboard. GAHHHH! Now, My motherboards are not just placed in and plugged in. I take great pains to bundle the wiring so that everything is clean inside. So replacing the motherboard is going to be a couple of hours of work. I run out get a new mobo (More expense!) and spend the rest of the afternoon installing it. I plug everything in and.... Nothing...... I'm beside myself by now.
At least now the BIOS is posting and the computer is recogizing the CPU, RAM and videocard. So everything is working. I decided to see if I can boot to CD. In goes Windows Vista DVD and a reboot, windows works. But It does not see my previous installation of Vista! Here's why (after much thought and cussing) I upgraded my installation to Vista SP1 and my installation disk is only Vista. After HOURS on a chat room with a microsoft tech support person, I was able to reinstall Vista at the LOSS of all of my settings. Now I have to re-install all of my programs and then direct them to the data on the computer. I'll be at this for the rest of the week.
So my less than 1/2 hour upgrade ended up sucking up my entire day off! Well, at least it works now. Now I need to clean up the wiring and close it back up but I think that it will need to wait until my next day off.
Lesson of the day. Don't upgrade your hardware too much, Vista will balk and lock you out of your own system!
BostonIs it in NY or Boston?
