10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with B.O.B.) - Thread #17

We cruised on RCCL first, on their smallest ship. It was about 300 ft shorter than the Magic/Wonder! The first few days on the Magic, I kept losing track of the forward and midship elevators. On the Nordic Empress there was only forward and aft, so I would think I was almost out our room (5522) when we were only midship(passing the mid ship elevators).

We had a great time. Although, I never went in the pool on RCCL. The seas were choppy the whole week on sea days and the pool was closed. There was no alternate dining areas...ie no fast food. There were times when I was hungry!

The rooms were tiny as well. Here is a pic of our room.

When we boarded the Magic we were blown away by the room size, the alternate dining options, the level of service, and of course as you said, the shows blew RCCL out of the water!

Our CD on the Nordic Empress was a phony snob too! He said the same things every night and we saw him in Grand Cayman, we said "hey there's Chris our CD." He gave us a cheap smile and kept walking. Andy (Ciao for now) on the Magic was a great CD and my parents said he was the best they ever had on 4 cruises. Too bad he got fired shortly after our cruise.

How things have changed. Here is our cabin on the Independence:

Heather, thanks for reposting Rick's video :thumbsup2 I forgot how awesome it was :cool1:

Dave....I'm drinking coke with extra sugar :lmao: :rotfl2: :drinking1

He's like Robin Leach, a great host :thumbsup2 He needs his own show ::yes::

I will have to convince Bernie to be my host for my next video  :cool1: :thumbsup2 ;)

He normally drinks diet coke, but when on vacation he throws caution to the wind and forgets his diet and just has what he wants.

Go on Bernie....we need a new host as Dave and Bev aren't joining us this year (unless they have booked and are not telling us).

Boy, is it cold out there today. Rick and I had our Sunday morning walk to our local grocery store and couldn't get there quick enough. It might not be cold, but the wind chill....:cold:

We saw her assistant teacher today at a ballgame and she said Julia had gotten the most cards and was impressed. They still need several states but are getting closer each day. Julia brings home about 3 envelopes each day from different states. I hope they get them all.::yes::
Thanks everyone for helping!:grouphug:

It has to be postmarked from the state. But thank you very much.:thumbsup2 Stay warm!!!!

Andy what was your honest opinion of RCCL? I see you went on the Sovereign which was one of their oldest ships. We went on one of their older ships and also the smallest. There was so much more to offer on DCL.

We went on the Mariner in 05, we had a great time. The only thing we did not like was the crowds, Dinner was a wait to get in every night, getting on & off the boat took a while, people were not as friendly, but we were a group of 12 so we didn't meet any one else. The kids liked the teen club but the younger clubs were not as good as Disney. For the difference in $$ I would do it again.

We compared everything to Disney, DCL is much better but for the $$ it was well worth it.

What does Roger think about the Varitck Deal?

Guess what it's SNOWING:confused3:confused3:confused3.
