10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with B.O.B.) - Thread #17

Actually I have my first DCL newbie question if anyone would like to help-

Since I have never sailed on DCL before I won't be able to book Palo or spa until 75 days out (assuming everything is paid in full) - I have heard that by that time ressies at Palo and spa may be hard to come by? Is this the case on the 7 night cruise? Or is it more so on the shorter cruises? From what I understand there areas set up on board the first day to make these ressies? What is the likely hood that I will be able to get reservations for either Palo or spatreatments in my case? I know about the Romance Escape Package which allows you to book Palo earlier and you get the tropical rain forest pass - but it is too expensive for us since we really do not want the robes or the alcohol it includes (we are not big drinkers) so we are not going to do that. Any insight or advice on how to book these things would be great.

First, Let me welcome you to the BOB! Glad to have you! I agree with Cass, If you are on board early enough you can grab all the ressies that you need. Just make a plan of attack when you arrive. If you need to book two different things as two different places, divide and conquer.

Oh, I am also thinking of starting my own website. Remember the old Dave's DCL Tribute site that had information on it? I was thinking of doing something like that. Since you have a great website, I was going to ask if you had any pointers you could offer a Newb like me.

Yup, I loved Dave's website. Hmmm...pointers? I will just warn you that it's a lot of work! But I do my websites from scratch, which is time consuming and sometimes very aggravating but these days, there are a lot of places that offer website templates and blogs that are easily updated.

I haven't updated cassworld in a very long time I guess one day I will redo it...maybe when Kira is in school

Hello everyone, I'm Lisa - 28 yrs. old and I will be on this cruise with future hubby Dave on our disneymoon. We just booked through Dreams Unlimited. I have cruised once before on RC but never on DCL and I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!! I am DCL newbie I can't stop reading about all things DCL I am ready to get my cruise on!

Hi Lisa! I'm Jen, and I will be travelling with DH Pete, DS Thomas (6), and a whole assortment of family. Congrats on the Disneymoon! DH and I honeymooned in WDW....we loved it. I think this cruise will be wonderful!

Good advice Steverino! I agree with you and Cass on this one. We didn't get our Palo ressies until we got on the ship for our first cruise either. We just headed over to Rockin Bar D and got brunch and dinner ressies right there. We also just popped into the Spa one day and got a day pass for the Rainforest. Easy Peasy Lisa.

As for weather, we just got though a 5-day cold snap and woke up to a balmy 2ºC (36F-ish) and it's looking like a nice week ahead If it wasn't for Chinooks, I don't think I could live here in Calgary

Ok, just a couple more tidbits (in case anyone is interested in my boring life!)

Thomas asked to have a kids' party for his birthday, so I am going to have a bunch of 5-6 year olds at my house on Feb. 8th (headcount is unknown at this time). The theme - Mickey Mouse!!!!

Oh, and did I also mention I volunteered to have the monthly family gathering for the February birthdays (which is for Thomas and Anthony)...and that will be Feb. 7th! The theme for that is Star Wars! So, 2 parties in 2 days...yikes!

If I recall correctly, he started back with long hours on the road (truck driving) and didn't have the time to keep up his site.
