I prefer photos to just name cards... I know its rather "formal" for just the 5 of us to have place cards, but I do it so Mom isnt next to me

Yep, the bottles of wine were always close at hand that day. I suppose you were expecting devil horns etc on my Mom ... if you look closely under her hair you can see 666 tatooed on her forehead

Nancy those are called crackers. You pull them apart at the ends and they make a popping sound and little prizes fall out ... usually a party hat, and a little toy, and maybe a joke or saying written on a small piece of paper. We ordered some one year for the kids at Christmas ... made a mess but lots of fun for them.

BTW, you British folks can feel free to correct me if I explained that poorly.

We had crackers growing up! They were fun
Filled with lots of little treats, a toy, etc.

But now, the ones I've seen in stores here that I've bought. They were boring.
A paper hat, one piece of candy and a joke.

C'mon, put more good stuff in there.

I love them though.

Another crappy year stuck in a dead end relationship with my loser of a husband.

Toffee Squares

1 c (2 sticks butter)
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 c sifted flour
½ pound milk chocolate chips
½ to 3/4 c chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Blend in eggyolk, vanilla, salt and flour.

Press into greased 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan. If batter is too sticky to spread, flour fingers lightly. Bake in preheated oven about 20 minutes.

While it is still hot, sprinkle milk chocolate chips over top and spread with knife or spatula. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and let cool. Cut into small squares then refrigerate. Makes about 6 dozen.

Notice....no alcohol related ingredients!!!

Yum!

Hey - I hope everyone had a good day! I am trying a new beer for me... I bought a variety pack of Belgian beers at Sam's - this is really good. I think the label said Leffe Blonde. It is delicious! Lots of wrapping to do tonight, bills, housework to catch up on, and exam reviews and exams to make keys for. Yippee! Romeo and Juliet went really well - I had been worried since I had to cover the whole thing in only 8 days. I gave my kids a lot of the same test the honors kids took, and my class averages were 89.8 and 90.9 - Not bad, Mr. Bond!!!! I am psyched they did so well.

But last night went out for Wine Wednesdays at the Genesee Grand Hotel.
Every Wed they give you 3 wines to try and 3 fancy shamncy hor dourves.
(Also they do this on Thur with beer)
But last night was champagne!

I so had to go, it was an awful day at work, got into it with a co-worker.
I hate hate hate blue collar factory time places...... gossip backstabbing women, and sometimes men too. I try to keep my headphones on and play music or listen to news, but NO, people still try and drag me in
We fought about the overtime and breaks at my morning PO, they're scheduling their own OT without asking a boss or manager!
It's driving me crazy, but they get away with it.
I can't stand people that can make their own rules like that, no wonder the Postal service is going under.
I was so upset by the time I went to my second half of day at the post office in the mall,
I made a couple of bad money boo-boos

I really needed to drink that night.

And it was great!

First was Coppola's Sofia sparkling wine
Then something I don't know from Spain.
And lastley Perrier Jouet.

Best one was the Sofia

Where's that winediva anyway??????

Paired with stuff I wouldn't eat....
Cheese with truffle..... don't do mushrooms
Oysters and something.... No seafood
Salmon slice with cracker and brie.... again no seafood, and don't like brie too much either, kindof mushroomy for me

Gave all that to Bob and just drank champagne!
Felt much better from my awful day
