no glamour or anything.

i got a job right out of high school (34 plus years ago) at a local tire manufacturer. Denman Tire. we make tires for off road vehicles and classic wide whitewall tires for show cars etc.
cant complain, its been good to us. although as with anyone these days, its getting tougher out there. i feel sorry for the younger guys.
they just told us, you're laid off the rest of the year. no holiday pays or anything. just sign up for unemployment(about 1/2 your pay):sad2:

as i said, i'm happy to get the time off, but the younger guys with families are the ones who suffer.:sad2:

it is truley unfortunate but I think companies are making the problem worse.. we need to keep spending so the economy can recover.. or else it will be really hard to get it back up. But like I have always said there is a silver lining in everything if you look hard enough :goodvibes
I am sure the young guys will find something.. things are only as bad as we make them... ok enough with the fortune cookie proverbs..lol :hippie:

I know it's only a part-time job, but Lina hasn't had any hours at The Disney Store for the past three weeks. She was scheduled for 4 hours tomorrow night, but got called off already. I think the store hired more seasonal help then they thought they would need. At least Lina did get to babysit a few days this week.

guess i'd better go start dinner for my sweet polly.

baked chicken with mashed potatoes.
on seperate plates of course.:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone! I actually left school on time and have been enjoying an afternoon at home. Tonight will be busy though - we have lots to wrap and ship, so the wrapping must get done. Lots of Christmas cards to stuff in envelopes - I addressed them already - and licking to do... yuck!!!!!!! My son left today to fly to CO and Utah to ski for 10 days. He is writing for a website, so he gets his lift tickets comped and they are paying for his flight back. He is lodging with a fraternity brother, so the whole thing is not costing him hardly anything. VAil ahs all their stuff open and Canyons - I think that is the other resort - has some but not all open. HE went out there in the spring and wrote a review of the place, so now he is reviewing it for skiing. We went out there last year for Christmas for the best vacation our family has ever had together - oh how I wish we were going again! Poor daughter only gets 4 days off at Christmas though because of cheer nationals. I hate it for her, but I know she loves cheering.

So - have a nice night! Oh has anyone ever made one of the breakfast - hash brown - crockpot recipes? I am trying one tonight for the work Christmas brunch tomorrow. I am hoping the eggs don't dry out. Any words of wisdom to share from one who has done it????

This is what I have to look at sitting on our diningroom table until Saturday evening. These are the chocolate covered pretzels Lina and Samantha made last night for the Christmas party they are going to on Saturday. We have a small bowl on the table of broken pretzel pieces.

Let's see - just get to where you don't like them!

The trouble is, they taste YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Yep - that's when I used to start finding flavors in foods I didn't like. Dipped pretzels were hard for me till I noticed the waxy taste of the chocolate coating. Find something - you can do it. Back away from the pretzels!!!!!

Does anyone else watch Jon & Kate plus 8???

Boy, I get stressed just watching it. But...it sure makes me feel better about my simple little life :lmao: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Just finished printing off our "Family 2008 Newsletter."

Thought I'd share it here since I only have a few of your addresses. I hope it comes out big enough to read. :santa:

That is one great pic of you and Hazel Andy! Can you get me the photographers number;)
Loved the letter, but you should have made it a little more exciting and put that you not only sailed on the Magic but you survived Hurricane Hannah as well.

Really! Wow cool!

Ugly at the School Districts here in CA as well there Mike. My district has to cut 14 million out of the budget(I'm thinking of emailing Pelosi and asking for a bailout) that is only if the state can come up with their cuts, and if not then we will have to cut 20 million.
First round of cuts came out yesterday, 14 administrators are being put back in the classroom, still have a job, but get a huge paycut. ALL our budgets are frozen, cant spend anything.
2 round is next and that maybe where people lose their jobs.......oh and then there is the whole the state may go bankrupt which means I don't get a paycheck.....but for now I am so happy to have a job.

I used to, but don't get the channel anymore since I had to cut back.:sad2:

The kids are soooo funny though. Leah is my favorite girl and Aiden is the favorite boy. Maddie drives me crazy, she is definately her mothers child.:rotfl2:

Dang, I knew there was something I wanted to add about the cruise. With adding the pics, it takes away from how much I can write. I also try to keep it short, simple and to the point. Maybe extras have to be left out.

I guess I should have used a 10 point font instead of a 12 point font.

Hey Girl - How was it last night? How is Frank doing? Did you take any pictures?
