Well I think I am ready for the start of my busy season tomorrow. I just put new cards in the signs on my stands. I checked my equipment and now fixing the bells that broke last year. The "dingers" fall out and need replaced frequently.

How are donations looking this year Chris?

It is going to be one tough year for large donations. I don't think it will get any better over the next couple of years either.

I am thinking kettle donations will be about what we raised last year as they more of the "spontaneous" and generally small donations. I expect that our mail appeal will take a big hit as that is more of an informed donation, ie writing a check vs. putting a dollar in a red kettle.

We start tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see. Our demand for services is going through the roof. I expect we will do 25 to 50% more familes than last year.

What is your 'territory' Chris? Do you cover a large area?

My brother and I always get up early to shop on Black Friday and one of our traditions is dropping a few bucks in the Salvation Army kettle for the first donation of the season. I used to like when they had musicians too. Do you guys still do that?

It's such a great organization and it's nice to know that most of my donation goes to actually helping people, unlike a lot of other charities.

I am responsible for Salvation Army operations in and around Norwich, Connecticut. We serve Norwich and 3 surrounding communities. I would say it is a small to medium operation, but we are growing significantly.

We still do have muscians go out. Elaine is quite talented and tries to get out a few times to help out. I can play, but not nearly as good as she can. I do when I have to! :lmao:

One of the unique things about The Salvation Army is that we are entirely locally driven. All of our operating income is raised in the community, and therefore stays in the community. We do have endowments that are held at our corporate office, but these endowments come from local donors. The money is held there to ensure wise investment by the "experts."

Hi everyone. I am just posting quickly. I am fighting a headache--I think I waited too late to get caffeine and now the headache is ahead of me. So I just wanted to say,

BOLLOCKS!

maybe he just did.:thumbsup2 :grouphug:

Don't think so.

Too many people wanted to drink their Diet Pepsi now and have none for the future, but will look for someone to give it to them. Diet Coke people look towards the future and how to supply themsleves with their own Diet Coke.

The more free Diet Pepsi, the harder it will be to get people to buy their own Diet Pepsi.

A can of Diet Pepsi here and there will help quench an immediate thirst but you'll get thirsty again, but a pallet of Diet Coke will allow someone to give cases to others which will change a persons lifestyle.

Face it, the whole mess came from too many people wanting soda they couldn't afford. That is the root of this mess. That goes much further back than 8 years.

And don't forget all the pizza to go with the soda!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I started a diet today.:headache:

Hi Andy
I am so sorry to read that you cant make the cruise. Hope everything is okay with you and your family.
Was looking forward to meeting you all, feel like we know you all already.
Keep up the good work with your exercise:thumbsup2
Hope to still see you posting, it was fun reading how well you were progressing.
Hope Lina likes her Ugg boots. We have got Olivia some for Xmas, she wanted the new colour for this season (grey) and they only do them in adult sizes so the darn boots cost £140.00:scared1:
Love to all your family
Cath
