10/24/09 Bash on the Boat (I'm With BOB) Thread #11

Thanks Mel. I just found the Oct. 14 date listed on the Disneycruise website too. We weren't planning on doing any kind of big trip in 2010 so I'm thinking these look quite a bit out of our price range but I might just check it out anyways, you never know.

October 14th is when it all opens up for booking.

EB wants me to get a price on the transatlantic. I'm really surprised about this because I didn't think he'd want to be gone from work for that long. For me it doesn't matter. The kids will be young enough that I won't mind taking them out of preschool and kindergarden. It does, mean though that if we did that there would be no Disney whatsoever in 2009. We'd never be able to afford it otherwise.

The website says pricing starts at $999 which sounds great until you price airfare. I did a phantom date, multi stop since we would not be doing a round trip from the same airport and the airfare was $1600 pp. :scared1: So much for that idea! It is also right when the youngest will be leaving for college so money might be an issue.

My niece called towards the end of the webcast of all times  Did they mention when they'll start booking. If we could afford it the Baltic itinerary is what interests me and I know Al would be interested in that one also, a lot would depend on the price though.

Bookings are next week Tuesday, October 14th.

Did you see the BASE pricing for the Northern Europe cruises? Cat 9, for us, would be $9,650 minimum and that is before the fuel surcharge and taxes. Not to mention the airfare. :scared1:

On the high end we'd be around $13,000 before the add-ons.

Not happening for this family.

However, I see they added some nice 5-night cruises for the Wonder.

Port - Key West - At Sea - Nassau - Castaway - Port

and

Port - Castaway - Nassau - At Sea - Castaway - Port

I'm assuming they'll run the normal 4-nighter on the Friday to Tuesday openings.

There is a date for each of those that I'm looking at. Just don't know the prices yet.

Hey, the Dow is down 560+ points or about 5.5%. Nice day for DCL to pick to announce vacations that will cost almost $20,000. :sad2:

Yes, the airfare might be a bit scary. Hmmmmmm......

That's what I was thinking, the sample prices for the European cruises on the DCL website are scary and then I figured the airfare would be at least $1000 or more per person :scared1: After looking at this more I'm sure this won't be possible for us, Rach will be heading to college in a few short years too.

Yep as much as I'd like to get to some of those ports I know it won't be happening for us now that I started adding everything up.

Where did you see the 5 night sailings on the Wonder listed? Are they for summer 2010? We've never been on the Wonder. I might consider one of those but I think Al has been saying again the next cruise we do will be on some other cruise line.

That looks like it could be very convenient, and its cheap!

Rick just bought some scales from Amazon - £18.36 and they have a decent handle. The reviews on some say that they can cut into your hand.

believe me I know how hard it is. I am having a terrible time losing the pounds I gained on vacation last month. so easy to gain so hard to lose. Di

You know that you can do it Di....just got to get back that enthusiam again. I want to loose a few in preparation for Christmas.

Here we go with another installment of pictures. Just a few today...

As I mentioned we had a 'shop till we drop' day and ended up at Cheesecake Factory in the afternoon.
