10/22/11 Parley!! Will this get me on the ship any faster?

Nice meeting you Joh, Nancy, Char, Mike, and Wendy! This is my third DC, husband's first to the EC. We did the 5 day double dip over Memorial Day last year on the Wonder and loved it. Why would anyone not want two days on CC! We are in much need of a vacation...I just graduated from anesthesia school last Friday, I am studying to take my boards at the end of June, and then we will be packing to move back to Colorado from Kansas City where we moved for me to go to school.

Can I ask how you all came up with the slogan/logo? I always arrive late on the meet/greet threads and find the graphics people come up with pretty awesome. Our logo for the "Double Dip" was of Pirate Mickey eating a double scoop of ice cream.

I am pretty busy, but will try to get on every couple of days to stay in touch

Maybe all my graduate education has rendered me unable to see the forest for the trees but doesn't "Parley" mean to negotiate or place a bet? Is there a hidden meaning as to how this slogan applies to this cruise or was there a heated battle about the slogan and therefore "Parley" became the slogan because it means heated discussion...cause that would really be awesome!

I'll think about it, depends if I can get my bum in gear. This is the plan to lose at least 15 lbs this summer, hopefully 20 to 30 by cruise. I go back to the gym tomorrow. Zumba here I come. Looks like a treadmill will need to be in my future too.

I am a beginner, but I should be doing better by then. I'm doing my 1st 5K at the end of this month. 5K is only 3.1 miles, so I know I can do it in less than an hour.

What, not even on vacation

Well, I have been known to have a Bellini or 2 in Palo at brunch

Believe me, I will be drinking my weight scared1 in Konk Koolers as soon as I finish! So, I will meet you guys at the bar

I absolutely plan on it. In fact, at the point of the cruise, I will be about 6 weeks away from my first full marathon, so I will be running quite a bit that week.

I have lost a little over 40lbs in the last year, 20 of it in 2011, and want to lose another 20 or so by the cruise.

Wow! Like I said, I'm just beginning, but I'm shooting for the Princess Half Marathon next Feb.

You runners will need t-shirts. I suggest "Parley Pavement Pounders"!

Nancy may have a better story, but I believe 'PARLEY!' comes from the 1st Pirates of the Caribbean movie. When the pirates come for Elizabeth Swann, she screams 'Parley', which is from the Pirate Code (actually,they're more like guidelines). It means they must take her to the Captain of their ship to negotiate terms and cannot harm her in any way. So, I believe the idea is that if you scream 'Parley' you will be taken directly to the ship. (Although, the Code only applies to Pirates and they're actually more like guidelines...)
