10-21-12 Dream!!!

The cruise is also a surprise for our 5 year old son...He's been on 2 cruises before and LOVED them...especially the new water slide on the new ships. We are only 5 mins from the port so he sees the ship all the time when we drive around...he keeps saying he wished we were doing a cruise this year....DH and I told him that it was a lot of money so we can't go all the time....he told my parents last week that he can't go on the disney boat because we don't have any money...my parents were trying to hold back the laughter.

We don't plan on telling him....we're just gonna get up and say were going to run errands...and drive to the port and see how long it takes him to figure it out....we will finally say YES we are going once we pull up to the porter stand! LOL Can't wait for that moment!

We watched the dream sail away today on the Port Canaveral Cam, our son says "wow wish i was on that one, can anyone hear me send me a ticket"!! lol he is a bright kid so I'm surprised he doesn't know...but 10.00 says he will say "I knew it" when we pull up! We don't plan to tell him until we are there and we will schedule the call/timing for around the same time we pull up :-) ..... Busy October Month since we live here but looking forward to the official 21 day count down!

If you're using a Florida REsident rate, then yes, you will need to email or fax a copy of proof of residency, otherwise they will revert you to rack rate for the cruise. I emailed a scan of my license. I did not hear anything back, confirming receipt, but was told that I wouldn't. They said if there was any issue, I'd get a phone call or email a couple of days before the cruise to make sure they had my proof.

I also included my ressie#, and sail dates with my scan.

Wow. Our TA didn't say anything about this when she switched us to the Fl Res rate. I guess I'll be calling DCL tomorrow. :(

Did you all set up a call for your kids??

i set up a call for my sister! :goodvibes

So I officially got butterflies last night when I realized I only have 3 more weekends to get everything prepared for this trip!! It's hard to believe it's almost here!

Is it 2 items per cabin that you are allowed to drop off at GS to have signed?? I can't decide between the photo mat and pillow case for the kids. Both are great keepsakes! And about the little gifts for the characters... shouldn't we leave 6 or 7 gifts in the bag so each one signing gets something? How have you guys done it in the past?

I know what you mean.....I have just 2 weekends to prepare for my business trip to Dubai (all dress clothes) which goes straight into the week at WDW and DCL ( mostly casual). I am thinking more and more that a trip to Walmart when arriving in the USA for some casual clothes may be necessary.....airline baggage policies are terrible.

I have heard in the past that it is only one item that can be dropped off per cabin. If you find this is the case upon, embarkation, you can give me your 2nd item and I will submit it from my cabin since I am not planning to do anything.

Just booked a veranda this morning - looking forward to my first Disney Cruise experience. I tried to join the FB group, but it wouldn't come up. Is there a new link?

Main Seating is full, I booked second.

Tricia has the FB group set on secret so her kids won't find it.

Once she opens it, you'll be able to get to the link.

I'm going to leave her a message on FB now. :)

this link should work when she opens the group:

We're coming from RI, so it's already chilly here in morning and evening. I'll bring one sweatshirt each and one or two sweaters for my daughter and I to wear for dinner if needed. Probably one pair of jeans and one pants. Mostly shorts and skirts, a couple of sundresses. It'll probably still be 80s during the day. Download the weather.com app and search for lake buena vista, and Nassau, Bahamas. And, we can always go shopping!!

I think we are going to set up a phone call for my kids for lunchtime on the 18th. We are leaving after lunch that day to drive to Florida. (We plan on getting there on Saturday and going to the space center.)

My to do list is so long!!! Don't forget if you want to be ordering stuff online for the trip to do it soon if you are doing standard delivery!

I have a couple of questions: Is it easier to drop off our autograph book to be signed or carry it with and have the characters do it during meet and greets? Also, how much candy and such to bring for cm's? How much do you usually go through in a trip? And does it get cool on the boat at night? I have no idea what kind of clothes to pack with the exception of the 4-yr old since I know she will primarily wear princess dresses (don't know why I bothered packing regular clothes for her when we were at the World last year!) Lastly, I have heard that there are some hotels in the area that offer a discount (like 40%) on parking at the port if you stay there. Anyone know if there are still hotels doing this? Thanks!

Ok- I found from another thread that the Days Inn, Best Western and La Quinta (not the ocean front) in Port Canaveral offer 40% off parking at the Port when you stay there overnight. Is anyone familiar with these hotels? I don't want to spend a fortune, but since we have to stay overnight, might as well get a discount on parking!

Also, anyone know where there is a Catholic church near the port? We would like to go to Mass Sunday morning before boarding. Thanks!

Our Saviours Catholic Community is 10 minutes south of the port. Sunday mass at 8 and 10:15 AM

I just sent a Mickey call to DW now. Big smile on her face when she picked up.

We've been discussing the packing lists during our daily dog walks with Max. I started my list of what and how many today, along with the dinner outfit plans. CC 5k 4 weeks from tomorrow!
