10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

I was just looking at my touring plans dashboard for our upcoming trip, and it has the WDW crowd level at an 8 on October 1st. I know it isn't exact, etc, but I would have assumed they would have it at a 10. They also have it as a 4 on Sept 30th, which I don't believe even a little bit. Just interesting, that's all.

Overall an 8 for Oct 1st, but MK is a 10. Those have been the numbers shown on the crowd calendar for quite some time.

I have been 3x times since Covid for a total of 29 park days. I have had to order my mobile food in the morning exactly once out of fear of being locked out, in January, for Woody’s Lunchbox.

no issues August 2020 or 2021. I do however plan to order my food for the day in the morning on 10/1. Better safe than sorry.

I, too, have had three trips since Covid, and Woody’s Lunchbox was the only meal where I placed our order early due to patterns I was seeing with slots filling up far into the day.

Im officially getting excited, been working hard on ressies, we are arriving on 9/29 to catch the last HEA, gonna spend 5 days in the parks, including MK on 10/1, and will be there from open to close like always! We got CRT breakfast that morning, leaving the rest of the day free so we don't miss out on any special pixie dust or happenings. gonna check out new night shows on 10/1 at mk and 10/2 at epcot. Also got ADRs for Steakhouse '71 and Space 220 for the weekend, gonna hopefully get Remy on Sat, we'll see!!!

I booked lunch at Crystal Palace for October 1st weeks ago. I hoped character dining would be back and planned to cancel if that was not the case.

...but now I am afraid to cancel because I may not be able to eat anywhere if I don't have a reservation. LOL.

Watching the Dis Unplugged, Kevin Klose keeps saying you need to book your quick service lunch at by 9am or you don't eat.
Is mobile order that bad? How are others planning to eat on October 1st?

I got a super Earidescence blue/purple sparkling pedicure for the trip! Was thinking about doing blue/gold with my hair, but am sticking with my bronze/gold normal summer color.
Still not sure on my outfit :/ but do have new Maleficent ears from Etsy - need to find how to hold them in place. Anyone got tips for that?

My sister hit boo bash last night, crowd levels at the party were very low, (not surprised considering how pricey it has become), but she reported that emporium was stocked up heavy with all the 50th merch, so i think it definitely looks good for next week for those worried about it. I do think Emporium on 10/1 will be a little intense, but I'm betting they will have plenty of stock for that day specifically..

It’s funny the wildly different reports you get from different people. I’m part of several WDW Facebook groups that are full of very dramatic people lol and two people were claiming it was so crowded they couldn’t ride anything and the food lines for the free stuff were so long they couldn’t get anything. I went to the first one which was also sold out and while they looked long for me it was never more than 2-3 minutes to get to the front because it’s all free!

I have a merch update, too! I was at Epcot and World of Disney today, then heading back home until I return 9/30 for the festivities!! So I don’t know about MK, but if you’re looking for ears, there were PLENTY at WoD. Pins are also all over the place, but I’ve noticed different stores have different ones. That probably helps them not sell out, though, which is nice. So don’t be discouraged if they don’t have the one you want at the first store you check. Also the only 50th merch at Epcot is a few pins, Alex and Ani, and the reusable bags (which are SO gorgeous in person!!!). Now the bad news…Loungeflys. Yikes. WoD did not have any. I asked the cashier CM, and she said because of the supply issues, deliveries have been super inconsistent and they go days at a time without them, and then when they do they sell out in the first hour. According to her, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be there on 10/1 because they haven’t set anything aside. It gets stocked as it comes in. Fingers crossed for better luck at MK!!!

This isn't specific to the 50th necessarily, but how does rope drop work when resort guests get early access? I'm not new to Disney, but I am not a morning person and have only rope-dropped once. Without Fast Pass, it will be a necessity for this trip. Also, if resort guests get early access on the 1st, what time do you think we should aim to be there in the morning?

FIVE DAYS!!

We are soooo close now! I can almost feel it. Still waiting to see any news of a special ceremony on the big day. A stage is certainly ready if Chapek wants to greet us that morning and be like Oprah and give us all Genie + free for a year. I keed I keed.

Wishing you all safe trips as you head to Central Florida. The weather forecast says it'll be HOT (of course), but it looks like we might not need our ponchos (possibly at all).
