wow - I should really start packing - have just realised that in exactly 1 week from now I will be leaving for the airport for the start of our trip.

We get to LAX at about 10am on the 18th Dec, and have 2 nights booked at HoJos. DS and I are going, and neither of us have been - sooooooo excited!

Just wanted to add a quick Thanks to you all for your great advice, help and suggestions over the last few months, this board has been great!

Kiwis really can fly!!!

Yay!!! Your son will be so excited!

I am not even close to packing either - then again, I don't have a trip to the UK tagged on to the end of my DLR trip, so I don't have to bring as much! You know my trip and yours will be overlapping, but you will probably in the parks on the 19th while we are sitting in the GCH lobby, listening to the carolers on Friday night. And on Sat the 20th, we will probably be in the parks while you are wandering around the hotels and DTD before you leave (though I still hope you end upgrading your Hopper to 3 days because I think you will need it!)!!! So we will be on the same Disney property but not in the same locations!

Also, I am so irritated because I keep checking the 10-15 day weather forecast and it changes every day on Accuweather. One day it says it is going to rain on the 19th, the next day it says it is NOT going to rain on the 19th. Same thing for the 20th and 21st. I always stuff my suitcase to the brim anyway, so I HATE having to drag along an umbrella and a rain jacket and extra clothes and socks to change into, and other cold weather gear. I hope I get a definitive answer on the weather by the time I leave on the 19th. I don't want to have to bring all that stuff "just in case," and then end up not using it. Then again, I don't want to have to use it because I don't want it to rain!!!

Oh No - Rain!!!! Haven't even looked at the forecast - better go and get some rain ponchos or something. Actually do they sell them at DL?

I am still thinking of using the Saturday to sleep in a little, and then roam DTD and GCH rather than going back to the parks, but we'll see. Hope you have a wonderful trip - and maybe I'll see you there, I'll look for LGMH's :goodvibes

They sell ponchos at DLR, in most of the shops. They keep them behind the counter a lot of the time. They have child-sized ones and adult ones. Some folks swear by them. Others say they were fine to the knees, but from the knees down they were soaked through and through!

I don't even know if my LGMH is visible! Maybe that is why no one approached me in October! They may not have seen it! In any event, in case you haven't done this already, go to my Trip Report thread (link below, in signature). I have all kinds of pictures from October and other trips in there, so you will see what I look like and what my friends look like and may be able to recognize us. This way, in case you and your son happen to be walking through DTD at the same time we are (we might be en route to or from the parks through DTD while you guys are browsing around), or we may all pass each other in the GCH lobby somewhere, you can keep an eye out for me and at least shout out a hello!!!

I don't have any pictures here, how do I go about uploading one? Then you can see what my son and I look like.

I really like your pictures, and for some reason haven't read your TR before, so am going to spend my next hr at work reading it :rotfl: bad Me!

I was actually late in posting picures in the TR! I had it up for two months just as written text before I posted anything. I posted mainly PhotoPass pictures for the October 2008 trip, so those are current, but all those other pictures in it through the middle and end are from various other fun DLR trips last year and in the '90s and beyond! And I still have more pictures to post of my own and others in albums that need to be scanned!!!

Do you belong to Photobucket or a similar photo hosting service? If you sign up with a service like that and upload some of your photos to it, then you will see something called an IMG code underneath the picture. You will copy that IMG code (ctrl c) and come back over here to your post or start another thread and paste (ctrl v) the complete code, which should begin and end with IMG. It's easy!!! Give it a try! Yes, I want to try to memorize what you guys look like so I can spot you if we happen to pass each other somewhere!!!!

TiggerNZ, where are you staying?

we're staying at the HoJo - my travel agent recommended it as I couldn't really justify the cost of staying on-site, and it looks great.

Where are you staying?

We're going to be at the Grand Californian. We were going to stay for four days, but we got cheaper air by staying a full week. Major splurge!!!!

I just looked at the 15 day weather at accuweather.com. Looks kind of chilly (well, not by Seattle standards!) so I'm revising our packing plan to take some heavier coats. Looks like some rain too.

I cannot wait!

Yay! It worked! Did you use Photobucket? Earlier I made the mistake of changing the name of one of my albums in Photobucket, forgetting the fact that doing that would change all the IMG codes for all the pictures in that album and then automatically delete them from wherever they had been posted - like in my Trip Report! So I had to go in and re-insert every one of those pictures from the very beginning of the Trip Report thread to the very end of the TR thread earlier today! What a pain!!! At first, I hadn't thought I posted TOO many pictures, but when I had to go back and re-post them all, it seemed lilke a lot!:sad2:

Anyway, your little boy is so adorable! (I had a hunch he would be!) I didn't realize you guys had already been to DL Paris! I thought that DLR would be a totally new experience for your son, but he has had some exposure to the whole Disney environment, so it won't be a complete shock to him!!! I love that picture of you guys and Tigger! And I was trying to figure out which character that is way over on the far left, wearing red and yellow, it looks like, with his back to the camera - is that Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dee?

I will definitely try to look out for you when I am there. My friend has eagle eyes - I should show her your picture and she would probably be able to spot you in a crowd of thousands!!!

Have a great time!!!

To funny, my husband keeps telling me to stop packing because he refuses to live out of a suitcase for two weeks before our trip! You are going to have such a wonderful trip with your DS. It is sooo exciting this countdown thing!

Hi again

I did use photobucket - worked great I think - although not sure why they are different sizes.....oh well never mind.
You're right we have been to DL Paris, so not totally new - but we only had a day there and to be honest we had no clue what we were doing...we just wondered around, and it was a baking hot day in Paris! Ouch. He does still remember going on Pirates, as we were sat there and suddenly it started going up ....... nervous wasn't the word, which is silly but he was 2yrs old, and I had no idea what was going on! Pretty funny really.
He also remembers having a Mickey Pizza for lunch, so am sure he'll love it this time round.
And yes it was Tweedle Dum or Tweddle Dee - no idea which one though!

Thanks for your kind comments - I think he's pretty adorable to - but I'm a little biased.

I'll be looking out for you - in less than a week!!!

Have a great time, we just got back to Auckland on Sunday, I want to leave again already :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know what you mean! I was going to start packing but I will have to wait. That shower that was just on my tuesday is moving it's way towards your trip. Hopefully it'll keep on moving though! It was rain and now it's just showers. Still about 60 degrees, but weather in portland is supposed to be very cold! Snow this weekend and then highs in the 30s! Monday is only supposed to be a high of 29 degrees! So 60's sounds great to me!! :)
