Tonight for supper we ate at Cinderella's Royal Table. I'd eaten here for dinner back in 2009, before the Princesses were present at Dinner. At that time it was just a little show/song with the Fairy Godmother & Mice.
I knew the food here isn't great, but I had hopes it had gotten better (nope). However, I think everyone should eat here at least once just for the atmosphere, so I had to take Sir. I also wanted to see all the Princesses, as their line is usually too long for me to bother waiting in.
Our ADR was at 5:40, and we waited in a long-ish line around 5:15 to check in. When we got to the desk we were told we were too early to check in and to come back in 10 minutes. So we looked around Sir Mickey's, went back & waited in a long line, and this time could check in. We were called upstairs really quickly, while we were still in a long, slow line for our picture with Cindy. So after we got our picture taken, we went upstairs right away. We sat at a 2 top by the railing on the top tier, which turned out to be the last place the Princesses visit. At my spot on the table was a round, laminated placemat type picture with the princesses signature, for my Birthday I suppose. That was a nice touch.
Here's our picture with Cinderella:
Our server was Shelley. The restaurant wasn't that busy while we were there, but Shelley gave us the impression she was too busy for us. Sir doesn't even remember our server at CRT, while he remembers all the other. So I suppose the service could be described as unmemorable.
Obviously, we didn't have any alcohol at this meal because it's in the MK. I had Sprite & Sir had Coke.
We were served a basket of rolls & butter. In this picture you can see the placemat thingy.
I ate one of these rolls, they aren't too bad.
To start, Sir had Rock Shrimp Cocktail with Tomato Marmalade
I didn't try this.
Sir's comments: I really liked how the shrimp was diced up into the dish, it made for a better distribution of flavours than at GFC. However the shrimp cocktail wasn't as good as the one from GFC.
I started with the Castle Salad Mixed greens, apples, cucumbers, and candied walnuts topped with shaved romano cheese with a hint of herbed vinaigrette.
This salad was only ok. The greens were kind of wilted, I think they had been dressed way ahead of time. I didn't really enjoy the dressing, it was too sour. I mostly enjoyed the apples, cheese & walnuts. Luckily I had a roll to fill up with.
For his entree Sir had Grilled Swordfish brushed with truffle-lemon butter on a bed of heirloom tomatoes, red watercress, watermelon radish and cipollini onions in a light champagne vinaigrette
I thought this looked pretty, but I didn't try any.
Sir's Comments: I really didn't like it much. It was dry and not very flavourful. It tasted really fishy. I would not order it again.
I had Slow Roasted Pork Loin resting on a goat cheese polenta cake with a cherry-port reduction
Pork again! Goat cheese polenta again! See a recurring theme? When I got here I wasn't planning on ordering pork again, but for some reason I ordered it even though I was thinking about the tomato risotto. I saw someone else got the risotto and regretted my decision. The pork was ok, a bit dry. It was cooked well done. The polenta cake was delicious, nice & creamy. The sauce was good too. I only ate about a piece of this, Sir finished the rest.
For dessert, Sir ordered Chef's Dessert Trio
Sir's comments: This was really good but not great. Overall I was least impressed with the meal at Ciderella's Royal Table. I know it's a Disney staple for first timers and it was worth it for the experience of meeting all the princesses.
The trio consisted of the flourless chocolate cake, a white chocolate custard, and espresso cheesecake.
I had the Flourless Chocolate Cake with white chocolate custard
This dessert was so delicious. I loved, loved the cake. The chocolate wasn't too sweet, and was just bitter enough. It was dense & creamy. The custard was good, but the cake was the real star of this dessert.
I was also brought a Cupcake for my Birthday
This cupcake was actually decent, but I didn't eat much because my other dessert was so good.
I probably won't eat here again unless I'm bringing another first timer, until we have kids that is. It uses 2 dining credits a person, or the cost is around $70 an adult.
The Princesses were ok. Cinderella down in the lobby was great. I was kind of disappointed in the ones in the dining room. I understand that we're 2 adults with no kids, but we're eating here because we want to and so I think we deserve the same amount of time. I found that they just stopped, said Hi got the picture and left. Except for Belle. She was super nice and actually chatted with us a bit, she was delightful.
