Today was our AK day/morning. I had originally reserved Rainforest Cafe, but thought if we were doing stuff in the park we wouldn't want to walk all the way to the front so I decided on Yak & Yeti instead, even though I'd eaten there for supper in May 2011.
We arrived around 10:50 for our 11:00 ADR and they weren't open yet. However, there was someone outside writing your name down on a card which was to be presented to the person inside at the podium. Promptly at 11:00 they opened, and we were seated at like 11:02. We sat upstairs by a window and had a nice view of people walking around outside. Something to note, it was freezing in here! I'm usually quite happy to be in blasting A/C at WDW, but I was soaked to the bone from Kali River Rapids so I spent most of lunch shivering.
Traves had a nonalcoholic
Pina Colada and a
Yak Attack mango daiquiri, Bacardi Light Rum & wildberry flavours $7.99
Sir's comments: The Pina Colada was delicious and I loved it while the Yak Attack was just okay.
I wasn't up for any alcohol so I just got
Fruit Punch
I love the fruit punch here! I wish more places offered it (it's a fountain drink). There's nothing special about it, but it tastes extra good at WDW I guess.
To start, Sir had
Seared Ahi Tuna, chilled sesame crusted ahi tuna, wasabi aioli and sweet chili slaw $11.99
I didn't try this.
Sir's comments: It was delicious! I love tuna and it was the second best I've ever had. It was served with a side of sweet chilli slaw and a delicous, creamy wasabi aioli.
I had
Wonton Soup Pork wontons, clear chicken broth and vegetables $4.99
This was so yummy. It was piping hot soup, perfect because I was so so cold. The broth was nice & salty, and the wontons were yummy & soft. There was a good amount of wontons in the soup. The crispy things on the side, I think pieces of fried wonton wrapper, were a nice accompaniment. I put them in the soup a little at a time to soften, like crackers. I'd definitely order this again!
Sir's main was
Duck with Anandapur Glaze Roasted half duckling, orange wasabi glaze, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables $23.99
I tried a small bite of this. I'd never had duck before, and it wasn't too bad. I found the texture of the meat to be different, almost kind of chewy? The glaze was good.
Sir's comments: I really liked this. It had a great semisweet orange flavour. The skin was crispy and the meat was flavourful, but a bit overcooked. The veggies and rice that were served with it were also good, but I'm more of a meat fan.
For my entree, I had
Kobe Beef Burger 10oz grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy sauce, mayonnaise, crispy shoestring fries. Topped with choice of shiitake mushroom & scallion compote or Asian slaw $18.49 (I chose the mushroom & scallion compote)
Unfortunately this isn't a very good picture. Sir took it from his side of the table, I wasn't in a picture taking mood, I was too darn cold. It was a HUGE burger, but it was so good. I think it's the best burger I've ever had. The meat itself was tender, and so so juicy and flavourful (I had it cooked med well). The compote was good, and I liked the Asian style mayonnaise (also on the side to dip fries). The bun was nice & soft, but it was just too much so I ended up eating the meat alone with a knife & fork after a few bites. The fries were nice & crispy. I ate a lot of fries and maybe 2/3 of the burger, Sir finished the rest of the meat.
For dessert Sir had
New York Cheesecake with mango & strawberry coulis, & fresh whipped cream $6.99
I tried a bite of this, the cake was nice & creamy. I love their mango coulis!
Sir's comments: I'm normally a huge fan of cheese cake but this one just didn't do it for me. It was good but not to the calibur of the other desserts I had eaten on our trip.
I had
Fried Wontons Skewers of fresh pineapple & cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99
I love these! I ordered them last time I ate here but was really full and only ate 1 or 2. This time I ate all of the wontons (besides the 1 I let Sir try

). I just love these wontons. Crispy wonton outside, hot & creamy cheese inside....drool.... I didn't eat any of the fruit or ice cream, I just felt I didn't need it. The wontons filled me right up.
I also don't have this receipt. I guess I didn't do as well as I thought I did with the receipts this trip.
I wouldn't hesitate to come back here. The other TS restaurants in AK don't really appeal to me, and I like Yak & Yeti, so we'll most likely eat here in the future!
