Tonight we had dinner at Le Cellier. Sir loves steak and one of his only firm requests was that we eat at a steakhouse. I had originally wanted to book Yachtsmen, but it was in the middle of a refurb so I booked Le Cellier. I had always thought I'd probably never eat there even though it had awesome reviews, just because there's so many other great places at Epcot to eat and why was I leaving Canada to eat at a Canadian restaurant?
We arrived at Epcot with some time to spare, we planned to have a leisurely stroll around the World Showcase because Sir hadn't been there and it was our only real opportunity to do so. We started in Mexico so we could get margaritas, and then it went downhill. For some reason, I was completely miserable. I had switched to different sandals this night because at home these ones are super comfy and I figured they'd be perfect for lots of walking and standing. Oh I was so wrong. My feet were killing me, I was hot, exhausted, and mega cranky. All I wanted was to lay down and have someone wait on me

Sir was also super tired and sore. We were not very happy campers that night. As a result we barely did anything while walking around the WS. It ended up mostly being us miserably truding along and cursing how far Canada was. You'd think we were walking back home from Florida.
We eventually arrived in Canada and Off Kilter was playing. They were playing some good East coast Canadian music from back home, and we enjoyed listening to a few songs before we had to go check in. We checked in early, as usual, probably around 5:45 for our 6:05 ADR. When we got into the lobby it was packed, standing room only, and people were saying they were 40 minutes behind. I almost started crying when I realized I'd be standing for maybe a long time waiting. Sir told me we could just go home, but I knew I'd be fine once I got to sit. After about 10 mins a seat opened up and I practically leapt into it. We were seated only probably 10 mins later, not too long after our ADR time.
We sat at a 2 top in New Brunswick, which is actually the province beside our home province of Nova Scotia, and we've both been there many times. Our server was Tyler from Ajax, ON, another place we are both familiar with. He was amazing and around our age, and during the meal we had an awesome time reminiscing with him about our favourite childhoold Canadian TV shows. He only had a few months left at WDW, and then had to return home. He was hopeful he would get a job at the
Disney Store there so he could keep working for Disney. Sir described Tyler's service as "exceptional".
I was way too hot & tired for alcohol, so I had water and a
Red Maple which is a raspberry smoothie with Sprite
This was perfect and delicious. The raspberry taste was intense, and it was sour & tart, not too sweet. It really hit the spot.
Sir had
Coke and
Moosehead Pale Ale (he had 2) $5.25 each
The Moosehead was cold and good, I had a sip. Sir enjoyed it so much he got 2. I just read on the menu that Le Cellier is the only place outside of Canada that sells Moosehead beer. Moosehead is a common beer at home and it was neat to have it somewhere else.
Tyler brought us the Bread Basket, which included
Pretzel Bread, Sourdough Rolls & Multigrain Rolls
we both LOVED the pretzel bread! I looooove all pretzels, and it was the perfect bread to go with my app. I'm not quite sure what pretzels have to do with Canada, but who am I to argue something so yummy? I could have eaten 5 of them, but I stuck with just 1. Sir tried a bite of each of the others, but he didn't care for them.
Sir's comments: The pretzel bread was good and tasted like a crunchy movie pretzel.
To start, Sir had
Wagyu Beef Carpaccio Beef tenderloin, capers, radish, frisee, Flagship Reserve cheddar, and lemon oil $14.00
I didn't try this, carpaccio does not appeal to me at all.
Sir's comments: The carpaccio was AWESOME! It was so tender that it could have been sucked up with a straw. I loved its richness mixed with the saltiness of the capers it was served with.
My app was
Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup made with Moosehead beer, and "Nueske's" smoked bacon $9.00
This is what I was most looking forward to eating at this dinner. I'd had the thimble sized portion at the F&W Festival before and I couldn't wait to eat a whole bowl. It was perfectly thick, and just the right amount of salty. I used it kind of a like a cheese fondue type dip for my pretzel breadstick. I really, really enjoyed this.
Just a side note, there was quite a bit of time between each of the courses because the kitchen was backed up. However, this was perfect for us. I'm a super slow eater, and I like having time between my courses to digest. The extra time allowed me to eat more of each course & enjoy the meal. It also gave us more time to chat with Tyler when he wasn't too busy.
Sir's entree was
Grilled Bone-In Rib-Eye 16oz. bone-in rib-eye with herb parmesan potato wedges and maple-pink peppercorn butter $43.00
I tried a bite of Sir's steak and it was so tender and yummy. When I was writing this review, I checked the menu on the WDW website. This dish has changed slightly. It's a bigger steak (18-20oz) which makes Sir sad that he had a smaller one. However, they've changed the butter to roasted garlic which he thinks was a bad choice.
Sir's comments: The best steak I had the whole trip was here at Le Cellier. It was one of the few dinners where I really liked what I had ordered more than I liked Michaela's. The steak was cooked perfectly (mid rare) and melted in my mouth. The maple and peppercorn butter served on top was amazing and really enhanced the meat without masking its flavours. The potato wedges were also good but nothing could compare to that steak... except another slightly smaller steak on the side.
I had
"Le Cellier" Mushroom Filet Mignon 8oz.
AAA Canadian beef tenderloin with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle-butter sauce, and micro chervil $43.00
BEST STEAK EVER!! It was cooked perfectly medium, and was so tender I could have cut it with my fork. It was a perfect serving size, and I ate all of the steak. I honestly can't believe just how delicious this steak was. The risotto was delicious, and so mushroom-y. The sauce was yummy & salty (I'm a salt fan). This dish was perfect, and I think it was my favourite entree. I could happily eat this meal every single day. I wish I had one right now actually.
Dessert! Sir had
Seasonal Sorbet $6.49 The flavour was Summer Melon & Cucumber - Cucumber, Micro Mint & Sea Salt
Sorry for the picture, Sir had trouble getting a good one. With the flash it was too bright (white sorbet on white plate), without it was too dark! I tried a bite and it was really good, very refreshing. Perfect for after a heavy meal.
Sir's comments: I'll admit at the begining the flavour combination seemed a bit odd to me, but it was refreshing and light which was a great way to end the meal.
I had
Chocolate "Moose" Chocolate mousse rolled in toasted chocolate crumbs with maple leaf antlers $6.49
I couldn't wait to try this. I'd seen it on some reviews on here and it's so cute! It was also delicious. The mousse itself was kind of bitter, and not too sweet, which was perfect after such a rich meal. I ate all the mousse, but was too full to eat the antler & tongue cookies.
This was easily the absolute best meal of the trip (except for Cali Grill, you'll see why soon). We just had such a great experience with Tyler, the pacing of the courses, and of course the food itself. Despite my initial reluctance to eat in "Canada", I can't wait to go back!
Apparently I didn't do so well keeping receipts as I had thought. I only have the
DDP receit which shows our OOP charge for the beer (apparently we were only charged for 1) was $5.25
