1.5 hours to get to breakfast from the resort!

Noticed today when making a couple of breakfast ressies, that Disney is now saying to allow 1.5 hours for travel time. Did'nt it used to be just 1 hour? I guess they realize that their transportation is just getting worse and worse and they just don't care.

Or they told people an hour and then when it took an hour and one minute people complained about it. So go with a longer time and people will be happy when they arrive early

I thought they say allow 1 hour to get to a park and 1.5 hours to go from resort to resort? At least I think that is what it used to say.

For the past couple years, I have see 90 minutes as the recommended time for travel when getting to a show or dining reservation.

I'm sure they are planning the worst case scenario which is resort to resort and with just missing the bus at each connection. I doubt this happens in most cases, but because it does happen sometimes, they give you the 90 minute recommendation.

I'd go with this. Let's see....

I'm staying at Pop Century and have a breakfast reservation at 1900 Park Fair. I get out to the bus stop and have just missed the Magic Kingdom bus. So another one comes exactly 20 minutes later. Takes another 15 minutes to get to Magic Kingdom. Then I just miss the next monorail so have to wait another 10 minutes to get one. And then I have to go all the way around the monorail line so that's another 25 minutes.

That's 65 minutes with all the bad luck.


Does it happen? Yes but rarely. Disney has to be in the business of covering their our butts because people will rarely say "oh my gosh, I was so early for my breakfast that we had time to enjoy a walk around the resort!". But you will hear up one side and down the other if they were late for their reservation.

And sometimes it can be because of things outside of Disney's control, such as car accidents causing traffic jams. Been there, done that.

Why do some people automatically assume Disney doesn't care? Do you not think they would want you to make your ADR (and spend more money by doing so)?

It's been years and years since I've heard an hour. We always use resort transportation, and only once was my son late for an ADR (bus was tail ended by another car) We find the transportation convenient and reliable. And if it looks like I might be running a little behind, I call the dining line from my cell and give them a heads up.

I guess they're saying 1.5 hours in case something happens that it truly does take 1.5 hours to get to the destination and they will be able to say "we told you it could take 1.5 hours" if someone complains.

For me, when it comes to an ADR where I will be going from one resort to another I just play it safe and pay the few dollars and go by cab. I hate feeling stressed out worrying about being late for an ADR.

One time I was staying at AKV Kidani and was meeting friends for dinner at Trails End at Ft Wilderness. The reservation was 6:30, so I went out for the bus at 5:30. Planned to bus to MK and boat to FW. Didn't get there until 6:45. Waited a long time at AKV for the bus, then just missed the boat. I was wishing I would have drove but we were planning to go to MK afterwards, so I didn't want to have to move the car or go back for it afterwards.

I think it has to do with the fact that many ADR's will charge you $10pp for not showing up. They don't people "moaning" that they missed their adr due to transportation issues. JMHO.
