Any idea of average temperatures? I know Castaway Cay can be chilly (relatively--I'm from New England) that time of year, but are the other ports also typically cool at the end of January?
I sailed aboard the Disney Dream last January (2012). The temperatures at Castaway Cay was in the high 70s. I can't remember the exact temperature, but it was pleasant. I didn't see too many swimming, but there were folks that did water activities. In fact, we did the Jet Ski Adventure back in January. No problems and it was a beautiful day. (I have pictures to prove it!)

Average temperatures should be mid-70s to low-80s.

houseofstaggs and hairmajesty and Donnah I have you on the FE Group but I need your info. Room number, name, age, gender, and favorite charactor for everybody in your group thank you. As soon as I get this info I will send everybody the FE Group 1 list. YES we are full in group 1 now onto group 2. Let me clear that up, our FE Group is broken down into 12 rooms per group and we have just filled group 1 we still have LOTS of room for everybody that wants to join our FE Group. We need 12 more rooms to make up group 2.

The only two times we have sailed have been at the end of January - and we have loved it! Both times we went to CC the weather was nice. The first time it was upper 60's-low 70's but we still went snorkeling and quickly adjusted to water temps (we were in the water easily 2 hours at a time). The second time it was high 70's and felt quite warm! Any time we got cold we would just get out and dry off by napping in the sun lol.

Yay! Can't wait to start personalizing the gifts!

I have cruised twice in January with stops in CC and both times the weather was great. People was in the water. I love cruisin in January, winter break.

I cruised in late January and the weather was perfect for us. We did meet a family from Texas who said it seemed really cold to them on the sea days and on CC.

Confession: I haven't read through the entire thread.
Sorry if someone already answered this. Is there a character breakfast on this cruise?

Also, what is the best night to book Remy? I don't want my kids (ages 3 and 5) to miss out on the dinner "shows," such as pirate night or the Animator's Palate show . . .

Thanks for your input!

Welcome Donnah! My little guy will be 3 by the time we go on the cruise too! Are you planning on doing the kids club with him?

Hi to everyone....

I and a friend just booked this cruise; it will be my fifth DCL (yay, I'll finally be gold!) cruise, but my travel companion's first on DCL.
I've been on the Wonder twice, the Dream once, and most recently on the Magic. I really love the classic ships the most, but I'll give the Fantasy a chance to impress me!
I'll look forward to reading this thread, and getting to know you all.

Hi Everyone! Long time since I have posted... I have been on here time to time reading but finally posting. My DD had a concision and we have been dealing with her recovery.

I had a blond moment and did not know that I had to check the messages to see if I had any PMs I thought it would let me know. So I am working on adding the kids to the Facebook page. Please send me a pm and i will check hehehehe to add your kids to the page. My DD will be the one to add them that way they will see her post and not mine. I will tell her who to add and be checking it. Sorry for the delay :teacher:

On a good note yay!!! Cruise is paid in full! Now waiting for the date to add excursions. Most excited about having time to relax now that this will be second dis cruise and kids a little older. And really excited to go on a new ship with new stops!!

First cruise was in Feb and the weather was awesome! It rained two days but it was still in the 70's and was warm even when raining. One of the rainy days was at Key West and the other was a at sea day. We are looking forward to at least some sun in the winter heheehehe :cool1:

Survived my weekend on two feet. I was a little sore by the time I was expected to entertain my 2 year old niece, but I was also super exhausted and I gave my brother A Look when he said "Go keep her busy!" Haha.

Next thing: paying off the cruise so I can book excursions on Sunday! What time does that happen? 12:01am? 3am? I'm thrilled it's a Sunday and I can do stupid things to my sleep schedule!

In other cruise-news, we'd told my inlaws to let us know by September if they wanted to cruise Alaska for sure. We tried to convince them to put a deposit down; we did. Well. Last week, we gave up - hadn't heard from them - so we moved the deposit, cancelled everything else, and went on. Then, on Saturday? They called my husband and said YAY ALASKA!

October 20th isn't even CLOSE to September! I just checked the price - what we originally booked at and what it is now and it's a $650/person price increase. Nope nope nope. Not unless they're going to cover the difference for us.

I am DEFINITELY going to use the kids' clubs! On our last cruise, our son had just turned 3, and I was nervous about leaving him, and so we really under-utilized the clubs. My mistake. Once he got comfortable there, he never wanted to leave. Why would he want to leave when Chip and Dale were teaching him how to be a Rescue Ranger? Or when he could sit on Snow White's lap during storytime? The wavephones gave me a sense of security, too, since I knew they'd call me if he wasn't happy.

This time we'll be starting off early with club time. I'm already dreaming about the books I'll be reading by the adult pool . . .

Welcome!!!! Wish I was Gold... you like the classic ships more? Why is that?

I have only been on the Magic and we loved it! Hoping to love the fantasy even more. I know my teen is so looking forward to the teen area on the fantasy.

All three of my kids got upset at me for not letting them spend more time in the clubs.... they told me all that I made them miss .... ooops lol this time I look forward to more alone time with hubby :yay: win win

We have to drag my son out of the kids clubs. It is a strange feeling spending my vacation without my kid on the ship.

Doesn't the Fantasy and Dream both offer a service where the kids clubs will come to your dinner table and take the kids to the clubs?? I thought I read that somewhere.

Disney Magic Nov 2010 Western
Disney Magic Jan 2012 Western
Disney Fanasy Jan 2013 Eastern

I know they had it on the magic in 2010. They come to the front of the restaurant and what ever kids meet them there they take. I always lost track of time and then dropped the kids off after dinner.

How is everybody getting to/from the port? We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge the night before and at the Boardwalk for a couple nights after the cruise. There are 4 adults and a 6 month old, and we are trying to figure out the best option that would also allow us to pick up bottled water/alcohol and is also the most affordable. Any suggestions/tips?
