Just saw from a FB friend that DCL is now strictly enforcing their no rolling cooler rule.

I know the kids clubs are closed when the ship is in port, but does anyone know if the Edge will be open? My daughter is not interested in any of the shore excursions in San Juan and we were considering leaving her on board. She is 12 and an experienced cruiser. Does Disney have a policy on this? I'm a little nervous. Any thoughts?

How is everybody getting to/from the port? We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge the night before and at the Boardwalk for a couple nights after the cruise. There are 4 adults and a 6 month old, and we are trying to figure out the best option that would also allow us to pick up bottled water/alcohol and is also the most affordable. Any suggestions/tips?

We are using tiffany town car. I do need to call and change our pickup from the airport to GF since we are taking advantage of the room only discounts

I also read on here that they are enforcing the amount of alcohol you can bring too

how much are you allowed to bring? I have only brought a 6 pack of diet doctor pepper in the past.

I think it applies to alcohol...haven't heard about limits on soda

I keep reading mixed comments on that. Last official word I heard (and when looking at their web page) there is no actual limit. There was talk of one but they got a lot of negative feedback and I believe the decision was reversed. Either way, we aren't big drinkers but we do enjoy a beer or glass of wine in the evening while on vacation.

As far as the coolers, we have soft coolers that you carry by shoulder strap - i wonder if we will have problems with those. It seems like most of the issues have been with rolling coolers, but u never know. It's just so much easier to packs a soft cooler when flying down and fill with stuff we buy down there rather then leaving room in a carrion size suitcase. Oh well, we will def figure something out!

Does Tiffany allow a stop? Don't need a serious liquor store, just someplace with water, Sam Adams, wine coolers and Barefoot wine lol

Yes, you just need to request it when you book. They also don't charge extra for a car seat or booster if needed.

We're doing the DCL bus. There's only two of us, which does make it the cheapest. Of course, we're also going to Universal, so we're renting a car, which will allow us time to buy stuff.

Like I said on FB, our TA pays off our cruise tomorrow!! :cool1::dance3::yay:

I have two more trips between now and then. Once is a quick road trip to IL, to visit the in-laws for Thanksgiving, and another trip to MA for my family and Christmas.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this trip, since it'll just be the two of us and we won't have to make anyone else happy!

Yay! We plan to pay ours off tomorrow so we can book Palo as soon as it opens on the 28th!

We think we are just going to try excursions on our own - not sure what yet though lol. What has everyone else decided?

We are thinking about doing DCL back to the hotel just because we did last time and it was really easy. Plus the TA said we would only have to pay for the adults b/c my daughter would be considered a lap child, so it's not as bad.

Yeah, our credit card billing cycle ends today, so by paying tomorrow, it hits in a different month AND I can still pay part of it with the current cycle. YES. I HAVE SPENT TOO MUCH TIME THINKING ABOUT THIS.

And then we can hopefully get a Palo time on the 28th. Glad it's a Sunday!

Also, we're hoofing it on our own at San Juan (jilljill gave me a great starting point and then I've borrowed a couple books from the library that have some nice self-guided tours!) and at Castaway Cay. We haven't figured out St. Thomas yet, but I think we're considering the helmet dive or another beach day. :)

Well, with 4 adults, it might still be cheaper to hire private transport, but it's close. We went with Happy Limo last year and we liked them. If you're going from the same hotel to the cruise ship and back, it's probably a good deal. We ended up booking two one-ways, since we went Disney --> cruise ship --> airport.

IL, huh? That's my neck of the "woods." Are they in Chicago or the other half of the state? :rotfl2:

Chicago suburbs. You mean there's another part of the state?! :rotfl2:

(kiiiiiddding)

I think you're pretty far away from that, yes? In short, HELP HELP I NEED TO ESCAPE. ;) it's going to be a hot mess. There will be a couple new babies and a 4 year old. However, the mom of one of the babies is single/unwed and the mom of the other babies likes to look down her nose at the single mom and she judges like no one's business. Plus, politics and religion and other stuff that should never come up in polite conversation. (And yet, they don't understand why I insist on a hotel room - never mind there'd be 6 people sharing one bathroom)

Yes, indeed, there is another part! :rotfl2: I am hours away, you are correct.

Doesn't sound like a fun time, but I could probably come up with equally horrifying family situations. I have always joked that we put the "fun" in dysfunctional! :)

I got it from both sides this weekend. I was ready to pack it all in and go live in a cave. Oh, families!:lmao:

Too bad we'll be far apart; it might have been nice to meet for coffee or something, even as a break. The furthest south we'll be will be, uh, well, rte 80. But we'll probably visit my friend in Bolingbrook, which still doesn't count!

I think something weird is going on with our cruise. I looked a couple weeks ago, and there were only a few categories remaining, and it appeared our cruise was almost sold out. Checked today, and almost all of the categories outside of concierge are available. I wonder what is going on :confused3
