We are driving form Oklahoma. :moped: We stopped at Hattisburg in 2002 and will probably stop about there this time (May 05). The motel was not nice at all and was about 60.00. We booked off of Lodging.com.
We are looking for a cheap and clean, I repeat clean motel. We we only be there from about 8:00 pm. till 8:00 am. Any suggestions????

I have stayed at the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites in Hattiesburg. Both were clean with a free breakfast. I like the Homewood better, but it may be a little higher. It has a nicer pool and just is a nicer hotel.

Can't answer for Carol, but we generally stay in Hampton Inns and book through their website. Print out a copy of the confirmation and you can call from the road before the cancellation time if it looks like you won't make it that far, or if you're making great time and want to get farther.

I booked via my corporte TA so that probably isn't much help!

SORRY!

Thanks for all the advice!!!! :lovestruc I did look them up and it does look nice. I checked the price $79.00. Is that about what you have been paying?

I did find a few others---Econo Lodge and Days Inn----Any advice on these??

I think the Days Inn was fairly old looking. (Don't recall an Econo lodge)

Your price sounds about right, but sometimes you can find coupons at interstate rest areas to get a discount. Also, I think Hampton gives AAA discounts.

OklaDISNEYMom we have driven from Oklahoma several times and have always gone down to Dallas and across Louisianna, down through Jackson and so on. I have learned to hate that drive. SOOO, last summer we went out I-40 through Nashville then down through Atlanta. I have to tell you the drive was so much nicer and it was even a faster trip. In fact the half way point for us would be around Nashville but we started out late afternoon the day before our trip and drove most of the way through Arkansas. The next day we made it to Tifton, GA easily. If I had not already made reservations for there we would have gone on another hour or two. So depending on where you are in Oklahoma you may be able to make it to Nashville or even farther. You should not have trouble finding a nice place to stay anywhere around there or even a little farther on from there.

If you would like any further info let me know. I will see what I can do to help you out. We are flying this summer but DH and I both agreed from now on when we drive it will be out I-40 not through TX, LA, MS, etc.
