09/28/2002 Cruise

Ave the earliest that we can get at the Palo brunch is 10:30 instead of 10. Mike

Thanks Mike. 10:30 still good with us. Anyone who wants to skip it let me know. Can't see that half hour on a day at sea could make that much difference, but I've never been on a cruise, so what do I know.:p Later, Ave'

Well, it took me a while to catch up on the posts--glad to see y'all are keeping in touch.

A few thoughts--

Dennis--Davy Crockett's keelboat was the Bertha Mae. Guess I'll have to watch Peter Pan to find out Captain Hook's ship. No idea of Steamboat Willie's either.

Helmsman Mickey wears a rainhat that matches his slicker. Does that kind of hat have a special name?

Nancy--quick hint to remember the seven dwarfs: two D's, two S's, and three emotions. Dopey, Doc, Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, Grumpy, and Bashful. Also, I totally understand how suitcases seem to disappear with the kids. Once in a while I convince the guys to bring one BACK, but not much luck--they just keep leaving.

Elaine--super news about school. What course(s) are you taking?

To the new folks--welcome! It'll be great to meet you SOON.

US Air informed us that they cancelled our return flight. We aren't too happy with the one they offered, so we may be switching to another airline. Never a dull moment.

Is everyone fully documented now? Hope so.

Karen

MikeJ - Just leave the paperwork to DW!!! That's how I do it! :p

Elaine - Congrats on school ...

William - Hope you work as hard on your schoolwork as you do on these Disney Trivia questions - You'll be A+'s!!!

Karen - You think I know the answers to these questions?! Why do you think I asked them? I thought the Davey Crockett one would be the hardest... Somebody has to know the Cpt Hook one.

Yes there is a special name for the hat ... Gloucester fisherman wear them! Need help, have been gone from New England for so long that I have forgotten. Standing out in the cold watching the Northern Lights has frozen my last undamaged brain cell.

Rae - Nothing like the Northern Lights but I prefer the Grizzlies, Caribou, Moose, Wolf, etc ... when out fishing in the boonies. Just got back from getting my gear ready for this weekend.

Rae - Oops!! Went to check my "message length" and pushed the "Submit Reply" button. Anyhow, I told you my remaining brain cell was frozen. Headed out to Prince William Sound for silver salmon and (hopefully) halibut. Since the freezer here is full, most of this will end up travelling with me to the DEEP SOUTH.
Neighbors love it when I bring them a "small catch" - just doesn't compare with a Bream or Bass. Hopefully, we will get to see some marine wildlife. With all the geese, cranes, and ducks headed south, the big whales may have turned for the southern migration already. Always a good time anyways.

Twinave - 30 Minutes during a day at sea is SIGNIFICANT. MUST work on developing the appropriate color tone to bug all those people when you go back home!!! ;) If not that, there is always perfecting the art of "deck walking" between naps! Only thing more relaxing is a flyfishing-river rafting trip. But on a raft trip I have to do chores! CRUISE!!!!

HH&GB to all

Ok guys - one last thing .... Does a London Disney Store carry any different type of merchandise? Was checking to see how much damage Chrystina had done to the American Express card. Noticed she had gone to Disney Store in London!!! Whirlwind tour of London and she still has time to go shopping!!! At least it was Disney!!!! Sure hope it was for me!!!

Losing 5 minutes 39 seconds a day now in Alaska :(

HH&GB to all

Dennis--Been to a couple different Disney Stores in London. A lot of the merchandise was the same as stores here in the colonies, but I did find some clothing that I had never seen in Pennsylvania. My very best purchase was a large (very large) Mickey candle that had been reduced a few times. I carried that thing on the double-decker bus and through Harrod's. Ed kept saying, "Aren't you glad you bought that?" I kept saying, "I love this candle, I love this candle..." By the time I got back to our hotel, I think that candle weighed about 50 pounds! Guess what? I still love that candle. It's on an end table in my family room--never been lit.

I'll check with my friendly Disney expert about the other ship names. Maybe Hook's ship is the Jolly Roger? I'll let you know what Anthony has to say.

Saw that Mary posted a list of character breakfast dates. Looks like we'll have breakfast with Mickey and crew and then brunch with the DIS crew. It's a nasty job, but someone has to do it.

Here's one of my favorite questions: How many one-word titles of Disney movies can you name? ("The" is a word--so don't count ones that start with "the".)

Have a magical day--

Karen

Hey All,

If I remember correctly, I think Capt. Hook's Ship was called "The Jolly Roger"???????

Sorry I haven't gotten many posts this week, but it has been a hectic week. And the ones coming up to the cruise don't appear to be any less so.

So now that we are under 30 days, the days will really start to click off. ;)

See You Real Soon!!!!

Quick question, How do you know if you get an upgrade? I also read the 9/14 thread and it seems if lots of them are getting them now, so wondering if it is about two weeks out they do it. While our cruise was "free". I did pay 1400 to upgrade to a category 6 and also had to pay for William since it was only for two adults. Don't know if I could get much better than a six. We did have a 4 last time, but we really don't need that extra pull down bed, although the extra space would be nice. Oh well, I will be on the Magic and that is what is important.

For all of you that requested the "joke" I am trying to figure a way to either scan it and then copy it to your email or pm. So I don't have to type it five times, I am sure it is very simple. Will ask the husband when he gets home.:p

Have a big day planned. My mom is having a garage sale next weekend and I want ot get rid of lots of stuff. ONly problem is I need to dig all the stuff out!!!

Another Weekend closer. Yee HA!

Dennis, William said to tell you look for the question this weekend. He had to make a web page for school. He is good at that stuff but wants to take an HTML class. OUr local Compusa is offering one on the 12th but can't let him skip school since he is already missing four days.
He is a pretty bright and funny kid, so am not worried about the missing school part, but the principal definitely frowns on it. Especially when we tell him we are going to disney.
Too Bad some people just don't know the "Power of the Mouse"
Have a MIckey Mickey Mickey:earsboy: day.

Elaine

Good Morning Elaine !
Quick question....does it have to do with a nun?

Bette:jester:

Elaine, if you get a free upgrade one of three things will happen. Either, you get a call fron DCL (or TA) to inform(ask) you, your docs will reflect it, OR you will be told at check in.

Dennis...maybe she bought some London Disney pins!!?????

Movie with one word titles:
Pinochio(sp)
Dumbo
Cinderella
Splash (I think it was Disney)
Tarzan
Dinosaur
Big
Pocahontas
Bambi
Fantasia

Or a little london bobby to bring back to AL Dennis:p Just Kidding!!!!

Mary thanks for the bouncies. I put them in the post yesterday trying to hurry the time up;)

Take care all. Mike

Mary--Good start on the one-word movie titles. I was only thinking of animated movies, but you get credit for Splash (That was Touchstone, which is owned by Disney), but Big was from another studio. Keep 'em coming--there are more!

Did some serious shopping at some outlets today in Reading, PA. Besides their usual discounted prices, they were reduced even more for a Labor Day sale. Don't ask how much I spent, but I saved a lot.

Elaine, I'd love to hear your joke. A nun, huh?

Cathy and anyone else, anyone get their documents today??? Mike

No Docs here and I don't care,
No Docs here and I don't care,
No Docs here and I don't care,
Cruise acoming anyway!!!!:jester:
:jester: ;)

Karen - First time I ever went on a cruise was with three women.
A blonde, brunette, and a redhead (NOT kidding). We all shared the same room. (Eat your heart out Guys!!!). Red was Chrystina.
Anyhow, we stopped in Puerto Vallarta where the blonde and the brunette bought ONYX statues in the VERY FIRST store! They did weigh 10#'s. By the end of the day ~ my arms were two inches longer from carrying them around!!! Notice I married the redhead!

Karen - Need to light the candle, at least the wick. My Irish mother & grandmother said it was bad luck not to do so. Have absolutuely no idea why. BUT to this day every candle in the house is lit at least once. Anybody know why? Irish Tale?

Elaine~William I am waiting. Have William write a "report" about his trip. That should get him some school credit. He can do a special geography report about where the DisCruisers are from!
Some things are more educational than classroom work!

More to come
