09/28/2002 Cruise

Hi all, Just back from the pediatrician's office with the "baby". (He is six) I am really cross with the school. Today was the first day and he woke up and said he had a headache. I thought it was nerves. Sent him on his way. I went in at 1 to help in the office and the teacher came and said Patrick wasn't feeling too well, would I check him. The poor little guy was burning up!! His temp was 103.3. I took him home and it went up to 104.5. Couldn[t get it down. Finally took him in and he has a roaring case of strep. He said he told the teacher he was really sick and wanted to go home and she told him he had to stay at school. Now he will be home for at least 24 hours and has probably infected more children. :(

WEll, so much for the "martha stewart" (read:perfect) hamburgers I was going to make for dinner. It is so late we are having: PIZZA!!

On a good note, A realtor called and said he has a family with *, yes *, children to look at our house on Saturday. Yeeha. Hope they buy it!! It has been on the market for three months now.

Happy Evening all, hopefully tomorrow will be better:o

Kimber1963 ~

My DS 9 and DD 6 are huge pin traders. They would love to teach/trade with anyone. They got started on their first Disney cruise Feb 2001. The nice thing about being a Pin Mom is that pins make good incentive gifts. Did a good deed ~ here is a new pin. Cleaned the yard, Did good in school, sick in bed.....Whatever the occasion I always have a few spare hidden away in the house to suprise them with.

See you soon.

Lauren

Elaine hope that Patrick gets well soon. Lauren we are not a pin trader, but there are a ton of people that do:) Guess that I will have to haunt the fedex place close by;) Mike

Ok - I am sorry but with the week I am having and the drama continues tomorrow with a trip to Newark NJ for work. I need to have a nice package sitting at home waiting for me - tomorrow. Any prayers for me would be greatly appreciated to end this week on a good note.

You pin traders are scaring me. We bought pins for DD 6 and kept it UNDER our lid about trading. <You know some things you do not want to tell them> I guess I will need extra loot for the pins she plans to buy and for her DD 4 who wants to do what her big sis does. (If only they did not spend our money.)

Take Care and good nite - hopefully a better tomorrow.

disvaclub92 - I hope the week gets better for you. I will be thinking of you in Newark tomorrow. Wave when you are in the area. Sending you pixie dust to get you through your week.

And may there be packages waiting for all of us. :D

This is not a commercial--I promise--but I thought I'd tell the pin traders that the Disney Stores are having a promotion where guests can receive a free pin (your choice) with any purchase of a plush character. The only exception is that it does not apply to the mini bean bag characters. So, if anyone needs a gift for now or later, it's a nice way to get a free pin.

I only worked a five-hour shift yesterday, but explaining all the promotions the store has going on almost made me lose my voice. Besides the pin deal--again, not a commercial, but I thought some of you might be interested--guests can get a free children's watch with a $30 purchase. Also, if a $50 purchase includes a pre-order of Monsters, Inc., in addition to the free lithographs and watch, the guest also gets a $10 gift card. What a mouthful! If you think explaining it is hard, then I get to do all sorts of paperwork at the cash register. Luckily for me (and my voice), I'm off today.

It would be really, really nice to see my Fed Ex girl today. No offense to feminists, but she looks about 18.

Hey, Elaine--isn't there some rule that kids cannot be sick on the first day of school? I still remember the last year I taught. Our high school had this bright idea that perfect attendance would be rewarded with no final exams, so the kids could actually miss the exams given at the end of the semester. I used up all my sick days because I was teaching classes of kids who should have been home in bed, at the doctor, or in the hospital. Hmmmm, wonder if they still do that back in Omaha.

Well--hope everyone has a good day. I was up early with Riker and I'm heading back to bed for a bit. Ed is in England AGAIN. Shorter trip this time--ten days.

Just found a really fun thing on the Cruise Reports forum. Check out the "My 8/3 Western Caribbean Trip Report" thread. Look for the post from 8/15 @ 12:28 AM. There is a link to a cartoon journal drawn by Dan called "Dan Goes on a Cruise." This guy is really good.

Chrystina ... Here's hoping for a nice safe flight and time in Germany and England. If you want to try and digitize the logo go ahead...only problem is that Disney has a "mouse" if you do it and sell them - that's why I did the logo's as I did for so many people. Brother has an embroidery machine that is exclusive Disney (Kathy has one I believe).

Elain ... Tell Patrick I'm sending him some Pixie Dust to get over the sickies!

Lauren ... I'm not real nuts about the pin trading but I do have about 100 pins and I love to look at them. I have them all stuck to a gold foam placemat (that I got at WalMart at Christmas) and it's framed and on a door for all to see. Time to take it down and do a color copy to carry with me to see what I have and what I want (so I don't duplicate). This worked great for me so far.

Jul ... Hope your week gets better --- Keep thinking "I'm gonna cruise, I'm gonna cruise, I'm gonna cruise!"

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Isn't it great that they got that one month old little baby girl back safe and sound. Now all we have to do is keep praying for all the rest that are missing!

Well back to work ....... Enough Disney Dreaming (Who am I kidding, there is never enough!)

To all of you that are afraid of the Pin Traders.........

Please don't think I am one of "Them" ...lol

My kids trade only and we have found with Disney prices, they tend to be the cheapest souveniers you can buy.

See you soon!

No I haven't received them, but I am sooo...excited, I called to see if they had been sent. The CM I talked to was very nice and said they had been sent yesterday. The 14th. Now I can start watching for the Fedx guy for real.

My neighbor just gave me the neatest gift. las month her little girl broke her elbow at gymnastics. Her husband was out of town and she had noone to leave the other two with so I kept them No problem, she helps me out all the time too. Anyway, yesterday she brought over a cookies by design basket with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy Donald and a "YOu're Terrific" cookie. It was very cool. As if I am not in the disney mode anyway:p

if you haven't seen their cookies before, they are huge and very thick and very yummy! Think I will put a couple in zip lock bags and slip them into DS's basket that I am ordering from Shirley. They will be perfect!

Patrick is feeling a little bit better today. Penicillin is a super drug!
Am frantically cleaning the kids rooms for those 8 , yes 8 children to look at on Saturday with their parents. Keep your fingers, toes and anything else you can crossed. Wouldlove to get house sold before we leave.

Have a good day. Elaine:earseek:

Elaine, glad that Patrick is doing better. Have our fingers crossed for your home to sell before you leave. Mike

Just got off the phone with DCL and our documents were printed yesterday and are being shipped today. Looks like next week they should be here. I don't think that they are delivered on Saturdays, unless you pay extra for that when you make the reservation.

Karen ... I am so glad you posted about that "Cartoon" thread. I LMAO over it cause it is so true about a lot of the ship stuff. Especially funny is the "toilet" one. Art still laughts about my first cruise flush and me letting out the scream, etc ... I'm sure some of you can relate to that.

Glad to hear Patrick is feeling better ... give him the cruise video to watch and I'm sure that will speed things along!

Back to work ....

I think it is so odd that the documents are printed and mailed on different days. But I guess it kind of makes sense -- otherwise they would have a ton to mail all on one day.

I just want mine to arrive already! :D

Hi all. No docs for me either:(
I have been very busy with my family reunion. 2 sisters with families arrived yesterday, several more are coming in tomorrow. I get to play "tour guide" tomorrow in the historic district of downtown Charleston. I've also been doing "airport runs" including one last night at midnight.
I hope everyone is doing well. I have not had any addtions to the list, but am sending out a new addition anyway. This has a few minor changes/corrections, as well as a numbering sysytem.
Please send me any addtional corrections. Thanks!

Just thought you all might like to know that the day we are in Cayman, we are the only ship there that day. Do you suppose it will be much quieter> I read the cruise ship schedule on Daves DCL sight. elaine
