09/28/2002 Cruise

Kathy and I went to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga yesterday. We went and saw the seahorse exhibit. Loved it. The aquarium is four stories high, and you start on the top and work your way down. Have started to post a few pictures. Cathy there were some horse and carriage ride operators there and on every carriage there was a dalmation as escort. Snapped some photos for you and I will send you a cd with them on it. Mike

Mike, glad you hd a nice weekend. Got the card and pictures... she is just sooooooo cute. Dumb ? ... how big were the sea horses? I was in Chicago for training and we went to Shedd's aquarium and that was neat to see, but don't remember any sea horses.

AshLee might be a good companion dog for a horse ... that is right us to the point where she would actually have to live in a stable and not have her ice water, fluffy bed and pillow at the ready...then it would be a different story!

Mary ... looked over the list and it seems that there are a lot of families that are on the "Who's Cruising List" that haven't made any contacts our bunch. OK, What's up with that? Also, ShellofH2O is mentioned as sitting with others but never sogned up with you? These people may regret watching us have so much fun at the Sail Away Party and enjoying our Laynards with name tags and shirts :bounce:

I'm going to send out a mass e-mail to those registered to try and get their home addresses so I can snail mail them logo's to copy if they want to make shirts. BUT IF YOU ARE READING THIS, SEND ME AN E-MAIL WITH YOUR "REAL NAMES" and ADDRESSES.
I'd like to avoid the increase in snail mail rates.

Check back later.....

Howdy gang! We have had warm weather here and therefore I have been no where near the computer. Hope all is well with al of you.

ShellyofH2O is sitting with ScoobyDoosMommy.

And yes, two years ago (the last time we went to Chicago) the Shedd had this AMAZING sea horse exhibit! They are truly incredible. And I had no idea there were so many species of Sea Horse. It was worth going to, so M & K I am sure you had a good time.

Hope everyone has a great day! GO RED WINGS! GO USA (World Cup Soccer)!

Today's the day--I finally officially registered on the Unofficial Cruise List for the 9/28 cruise!

I also informed RellingTwin that we are now on the definite list.

Thanks to all of you for the nice comments and inquiries about Riker's health. Only true dog people can understand how worried we were about leaving the little guy. Fortunately, we'll be leaving him with his "Uncle John"--a good friend of ours who also has a Schnauzer. We have the same vet, so John feels okay about taking on Riker's care.

I'm really excited about seeing some new ports of call. I love being on the ship, too. Can't wait to meet everyone in person.

Karen

RIKERSMOM .... That is so comforting to know that Riker will be in good paws (I mean hands!.) I know I feel better knowing AshLee is at home under the watchful eyes of our neighbors. Actually their son moves in to stay with her ... they don't have cable and we do, so he plans out the time with the TV Guide and AshLee dosen't care cause she loves him.

:bounce: OK, I did some cross checking and there are some families that have been on this thread but haven't signed up on the "Look Who's Cruising" thread .... and vise versa. I think it's kind of important that you re on both the thread and Mary's List
(RellingTwin) cause otherwise we won't know how many of us there really are and the names for the name tags. PLEASE keep us informed CAUSE IT'S MORE FUN WHEN YOU KNOW IN ADVANCE WHO DOES WHAT AND THE KIDS CAN GET TOGETHER BETTER (I mean from age l thru age 80!)

Picked up a set of flippers for myself for the beach ... more to add to the CRUISE BOX!

Check back later.......

I have two more cruisers to add to the list. VondaP and RikersMom. I will update it this week sometime and e-mail it to everyone who has given me an e-mail address.

Dave , thanks for the info about having the Tux pressed on board. It is nice to have options.

I plan on bringing my hole punch to the sail-away party for anyone who wants to attach their KTTW card on the lanyards I am bringing.

@GoofyNut, I can't wait to see the name tags and the logo!

ALOMST TO THE 100 DAY MARK! YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goofynut -

We would love nametags. We are also staying at the Radisson the night before. Our names are Michael, Lauren, Ryan & Paige Shields. If you need anymore info, or $ please let me know.

Thanks,
Lauren

So far we have 17 families - 35 adults and 19 children
3 are Yankees
5 are Southerners
4 Midwesteners
1 Southwestener
3 West Coasters
This is based on where we live NOW. It would be different if I figured it from where we were all from originally!

of the children.....
Boys out number girls 11 to 8

8 families are staying at the Radisson Friday night

we are celebrating 8 wedding anniversies and 5 birthday(3 in 1 family!)

The youngest crusiser is 2 (Hi Annabell!)

The cruiser who is traveling the longest distance is coming from Alaska! Closest, Panama City Florida

Late and Main seating are equally split 6 each.

There are also 4 Nurses among us!

Mary,

as there are again so many nurses you should really consider to apply for a tax deduction with the IRS. Perhaps they accept it as "training", "convention" or something similar :D

:bounce: NO CHARGE FOR THE NAME TAGS :bounce: Just a fun way for us to be able to identify each other, cause like last year, this will be the first time we actually meet in the flesh!

It's nice to see that more and more people are getting into being part of our group. I know Mike, Kathy, Mary & George have already experienced how much fun you guys are in for.

A little perk is that for the Mom's & Dad's ... since there will be so many of us all around the ship there are extra eyes out there to help look out for your kids....(Both the 2 year olds and the 50+-somethings!) HeHeHe.

Mary, glad to hear you are bringing your hole punch for the KTW cards cause I was trying to think of some kind of holders for them. It'll sure beat my idea for safe keeping of the cards! It's especially handy when wearing our bathing suits and no pockets.

Also loved the Breakdown of who's who ..... really fun to check out.

Dave, Ellen, Anja and Eric .... I'll try and send you "honorary" name tags, so you can see what you are missing!

Check Back Later................

Mary,

Anyway you could post the kids genders/ages. My two are already looking forward to meeting new friends. They had such a ball on their first cruise and still talk about it all of the time.

Thanks,

mlshields (Lauren)

P.S. DS/8 DD/6

Cathy & Art,

thanks - we really look forward to it and we feel honoured!!!
BTW, we definitely know what we will be missing
:( , but at least you can't dip me :p

Thanks Mary for all your work on this list. I realize that some of you know each other already and I can't wait to meet all of you and put faces with the names. As was stated in one of the previous posts, if any $ is needed for the nametags, t-shirts etc..., please let me know. I'll be happy to contribute in anyway I can. Is there anything else that I can bring for our "dis" party? Since I'm a newbie to DCL, you'll have to give me ideas.

Kimber

:bounce: :bounce: Now I know why I am @GoofyNut ... I need the real mailing addresses for anyone that wants me to snail-mail them a copy of the DIS Cruisears logo so you can do your own shirts with the iron-on paper. (RellingTwin & PaPa, I already have your adresses)

:bounce: :bounce: Hey no brain, no pain .... Just PM me with your addresss .

I have made the logo in 2 different sizes. One will work for adults and one is a bit smaller for kids. Since we come in all sizes, I figured it would be easier if we all got our own shirts and then we know that they fit, etc. You can get the iron-on transfer paper in any stationary store or at Wal-Mart or K-Mart. This way you can make as many as you want also. Hopefully, you have a scanner or you can take the image to a Staples or Office Store and have them copy it on the iron-on paper. I find that T-shirt's or that kind of material takes best. I'm using a light blue for myself and my husband (Art).

Oh no I rambled on again ... Oh Well!

Check back later......

Thanks to Rae Ann and Lauren (Rae519 and mlsheilds) for getting me the info. The list is updated and it will be in your mailboxes tonight.
Lauren...The kids names and ages are on the list.

As far as bringing anything....totally up to you. Last year some cruisers brought small things from their hometowns. Buckeyes from Ohio, Goo Goo clusters from Tenn. Since it was just after 9/11 one family brought small American flags for us to wave at the sail away party!I seem to remember someone from ID. saying they were going to bring "corn pins"??? Please do not stress about it. The lanyards are my treat:p

@GoofyNut...I can 2nd the "extra eyes" thing. My 2 kids took a trip up to deck 10 (I thought they were in the hall waiting for DH and I) when a DIS'er called to let me know! YUP....sure is nice haveing so many friends on board. Also nice when we were at the Goofy pool and I wanted to run down to the cabin and get my book. There was another DIS'er by the pool, and she was happy to keep an eye on them for 5 min.! MUCH better then making them get out while I was gone!

As for knowing everyone...actully there are only 3 famlies from last year Papa, @GoofyNut and us! But not to worry...we all will know each other by the time Sept gets here! Just read the boards often and post when you can.

Rellingtwin, thanks for the list. So happy to see so many Disers come out of the lurking mode.
The more I read the boards, the more sure I am that this will be the best cruise ever! Easy for me to say, it is my first. But I have heard so much from Rellingtwin I feel like a vet.
GoofyNut, will e-mail my home address. Lt blue t-shirts sound fine. I was thinking we could all do the same color. What do you think?
are we under 100 days yet? :( Are we there yet?:)

:bounce: I've started to get some of the snail-mail addresses so I can send out the Logo for all to make their own shirts. I have a feeling this is the best way to go. More economical and heck if you want to you can make enough for the whole cruise! I'm going with light blue for myself and DH - Art.

? ... anyone hear from PowerAlaska lately ... hope all is well. Wondering too if PowerAlabama is spelled Christina or Chrystina? Need to know for the name tags.

Have started to print some of the name tags and thinking of putting each DIS family's tags in a little "bank" envelope for quick distribution either at the Raddison or the Sail-A-Way.

By the way ... Is the sail-A-Way meet set for overlooking the Goofy Pool? That seemed to work well last year and it was a lot of fun to wave our American Flags at the people along the shore as we sailed out to sea.

Well back to the name tags .........

@GoofyNut...I thought you were going to e-mail the logo??If you need addresses(snail mail) I can suppy some as some cruisers put their snail mail addresses in the info that was sent to me. I can forward these to you.

I also like the idea of light blue shirts.

107 days!

Mary ... I was going to E-Mail the logo out but whenI tried it seems that it wasn't totally readable and I figured what the heck .. gotta do something to keep the Post Office going. You can e-mail (or PM) me what addresses you may have.

I did all of the name tags for the people that are currently registered thru RellingTwin (Mary). :bounce: If you are not on the list and want a name tag, etc GET ON THE LIST ASAP!

Check back later .... gotta work
