Great try Dan - but Mimi swooped in for the pirate!

Congrats Mimi!

Anyone watching the VMA's?

I completely forgot about this.... turned it on just in time to see Britney...

She didn't look as much a mess as last year. Don't know who that messy-haired host dude is though! So much for keeping up with pop culture.

Whow, she managed to sound coherant and dare i say polite. notice how they didn't let her sing this year and how long do you think she had to practice reading the teleprompter to sound as put together as she did?

...... I have been following most of the discussions, but am not terribly disclosive in the electronic public square.

Suffice it to say, I am looking forward to meeting all of you - whether at the pre-cruise meet / Mass - or at dinner (hello to table-mates, the Kennys, Wilsons and Perlmutters). Originally, I had to wait list for early dinning, DCL indicates that I have been cleared to join the group.

Although we've been members "since the beginning" (toured 11/92, final paperwork 2/93), and DCL-cruised with family (up to 2000, when children entered middle school and couldn't afford to take time off from school any more), I didn't occur to me to take the DVC cruise - UNTIL - I happened to be on a boat from DTD to SSR/OKW in Oct 2006. We are a family of martial artists (hubby is master instructor, I am one of his black belts - any of you who studied martial arts know how difficult that could be!!) and siezed a SWA moment to get RT airfare for $100/pp to go the Disney Martial Arts festival. Anyway - this family had just gotten off the cruise and were overflowing with enthusiasm (probably an understatement) about what great time they had, what great promotions for add-ons they had, etc. Well, I caught the bug. I cruised in 2007. I added on. I thought to myself when I got off - "nice cacoon" - surrounded by people who share some of the same interests (and, dare I say, values), surrounded by Disney service, would like to go again, but wasn't sure I'd actually pick up the phone and make a reservation.

That said, I have included the thing I do most on the Disboards - pictures. In this case, links to pictures from last year's cruise

We took him & his wife to Disneyland for July 4th, we thought there was no better way to celebrate our country's freedom than with someone who is on the front lines making sure it stays that way at a classic American landmark.:tinker: :smickey:

My Dad did 5 years, then 25 in the reserves. He fought in Korea and was at the Chosin Reservoir. He met my Mom (a WM) when he came back to Lejuene after Korea. I've yet to meet anyone else, besides my brother, that had 2 Marines for parents!

We too are a a military family, My uncle did 30 years in th AF as a Catholic priest. BIL 30 years navigator. My dad was in WW2 for a little while. DH did 26 years in AF, now DS #2 is in ROTC and will be in the AF when he graduates.

SIL and her hubby are both marines and have had 3 kids. The two boys are in the marines and one is waiting to deploy right now in Camp Pendelton. So our thoughts and prayers are always with those deployed.

Hi Ellen!
Nice pictures. We're looking forward to being your table-mates, too.

Hi there... I am am still in the process of trying to catch up on all I missed over the last 4 days.... You guys were a Chatty bunch... LOL... I was with my husband working as a SAT operator during Tropical Storm Hanna. I had no idea that I was actually going, but then poof there I was on a plane on Thursday. We were supposed to be in Charleston but then we ended up in Wrightsville Beach, NC instead. It wasn't to bad but between 11 PM and 3 AM the winds were about to blow the SAT truck and our hotel over. I was in the bed and the hotel bed was actually shaking from the wind.

Chris sends his THANK YOUS for all the B'day wishes. We were gone for his whole b'day so we just celebrated his B'day when we returned to West Palm today... He got an iPhone and a Carvel Ice Cream Cake....:cool1:

Excellent photos especially of the Members Ball. We were way up on deck 5. Do you mind if I scraplift some for when I finally do my scrapbook?

So glad you got linked with fellow DISers this year. Looks like you got a great table there. We all totally understand about taking pictures of all the little details including the food.

Boy did this weekend go fast. Between working yesterday and preparing for Hanna on Saturday, so much for a day off. Well at least I will have 10 days off starting next Thursday:banana:

Have a great week,

Les

What station do you work for in south Florida? A couple of our friends work as broadcast engineers for MSNBC and I work for a corporate a/v production house in nyc. Are you a mac user? The I-Phone is not all that it is cracked up to be, but it is better then a crackberry. We have have ours for over a year and replaced them twice because of issues. UMMM Carvel Ice Cream Cake....

Good morning everyone - happy Monday!

I am happy to report all the buttons are done, sorted and packed! :woohoo: Those of you who were in chat last night knew Mark was working on them and he finished them up. We have a really good group this year. 47 packets total for 125 buttons! I really look forward to seeing everyone wearing them and showing the crew of the Wonder that we are proud to be DISers. Plus it is a great way to spot a fellow DISer (and also to help you remember who they are). :)

Remember you can pick up your buttons at the Beach Club DIS meet, in the terminal Sunday morning, or at the Sunday afternoon DIS meet. If you miss all of those they will be dropped at the stateroom number you gave us but we make no guarantee when.
