I agree 100%!!! I grew up in the projects. Although my mom refused to go on welfare (she worked 2 jobs instead) we did get food stamps and government food staples. Side note: Goverment cheese is the bomb! Anyhow, looking back it can create an unending cycle for some people who choose to work the system. There needs to be some form of motivation to get out of that system and there isn't. A lot of the kids I grew up around are still in the system and with kids of their ownMany of the others are now dead or in jail. The environment does not lend itself to making good choices in life. I'm still the only one in my family that went to college. It took me 10 years to graduate because I could only afford to pay for one class at a time when I was waiting tables
My brother and I are lucky not to have been caught up in that cycle. Our lives could have turned out much differently.
Terrie - I would have never guessed that you came from such a neighborhood. I'm so glad that your mom didn't get you & your brother OR herself caught up in that cycle.
Ho Ho Ho everyone! The next couple of days will be busy here so I wanted to wish everyone a warm Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. If you are traveling please be safe. Eat drink and be merry. I hope you all make wonderful memories.
I'm raising my cherry coke for a toast:" Here's to Santa being very generous to one and all".![]()
Merry Christmas to you and your family too, Lynn! I hope you also make lots of wonderful memories!!

So, I just found out at 4:55 today that I have tomorrow off. We were supposed to go in to work from 8-12 but the boss decided at the last minute to let us have the day off. THANK GOD...I have a million things still to do and I didn't know how I was going to have time to do it all!!!
