Happy Friday! And good luck on your daughter's audition. What kind of dancing does she do?

Well, it has been awhile since I have been on. Ever since the middle of December life has pretty much stunk for our families. We are trying to stay positive and I need to be on here for my therapy. It really does help keep me in my happy place (if only for a while).

I would like to say a big Happy Birthday to all of the ones I have missed. Hope all who have had them have had a great day!

Hope everything gets better for you in 2009:grouphug:

Thanks Dave! :flower3:

Congrats Tanya (and Dave) on the :bride:

Congrats to Kathy from the 2008 Member Cruise for being a true pirate: and swooping in to grab one. Love ya Kathy aka one of my pancake sisters.

This particular audition is for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's summer program. I'm trying to downplay the importance of actually "making it" for the audition. Her dance instructor is sending her for the audition experience and "collecting letters" as she calls it. There is a lot of rejection in dance and we're trying to help her grow into that aspect of auditioning, winning some, and losing some.

She also takes jazz, tap, lyrical, and ballroom - but ballet is her strongest. That girl loves to dance!

Very smart to not make it "imperative" that they make it for all auditions. Our DD13 is also very much into ballet and wishes that she could do more outside of our local opportunities. I think that it is nice that they continue dancing, as most girls that she has danced with (started at 3yo) have all dropped it because it wasn't "cool" anymore.

Thanks guys! I wish I could say it was intentional, but I didn't even look at the post #! I guess my pirate instincts have taken over!

Good morning everyone!

I'm just glad its snowing today and hopefully it'll be all cleaned up by tomorrow. I'm about two hours north of Chicago and we're driving into the city tomorrow morning. My daughter has a dance audition. I really don't mind driving downtown in the summer....but the winter is just not as much fun! :sad2:

Kelly,

Did you live in IL? I am in the northwest burbs around woodfield. You are right driving downtown during the summer is one thing but now not so good.

I just got ack from doing my cousin a favor. She does not have her car and she had to go pick up one of her friend from the hospital. It was no fun out there. I tried the expressway but that was worse then the streets with trafic.

Hope it all goes away by the time you need to drive tomorrow.:wizard: We have to be out of the house by 8:30 tomorrow.

Have a good day.

I live in Wisconsin, near the Illinois border. The Lake Geneva area. I know Woodfield well. I go there at least twice a year when they have events at Doorway to Dreams (usually Feb and Aug). They usually sucker me into adding onto my DVC with the incentives there.

We'll have to leave here by 6:00am in order to get downtown and all registered for auditions by 9:00am. I sure hope the weather breaks by then. Its nothing to drive in this stuff up here where there are lots of wide open spaces, but downtown Chicago - yuck!

We usually take the train from Harvard when we go into the city. The kids love it. But we need to drive for this one cuz the train doesn't run as early on the weekends as it does during the week.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Kelly,

My nice lives on the boarder of Lake Geneva in IL. I can't remember her bub, but Lake Geneva is her park district. I think it may be Sugar Grove.

We usually go to the DVC in Feb and August to. We see each other and don't even know it maybe.

By the time you come the expressways should be good:wizard:

Take care and stay safe.

That is really cool. My daughters also dance but nothing like that. They take tap, jazz and ballet. Good luck to your daughter.

Flo and Mary, thanks for the good vibes :goodvibes . So far, so good for baby and me.

Mary, I think we're going to try getting BCV for Sept. Gonna keep my fingers crossed. (BCV is the one DVC resort we've never stayed at, so I'd like to try it.)

Robbie, I hope the ice is history for you and for all of you northern folk. I think CC is a great thing to concentrate on now. Oh, cabana boy.....

You'll love BCV. I stayed there in December for the first time and really enjoyed it. Let's just say ... there may be another add-on in the future :rolleyes1

On the ice, yep, the ice is history now. With another snow storm coming tomorrow, I am just counting down the days until CC! :beach:

Yuck on the ice! Not fun at all. Here's hoping the driving wasn't too bad as the streets often get coated with it as well.
Luckily for me, by the time that I left work the roads were in good shape.
