Disney Cruise Ships movies going high-tech
Nov 14, 2008

Disney Cruise Line is introducing Disney Digital 3-D movie technology onboard both the Disney Wonder and Magic. Both the Buena Vista Theaters and Walt Disney Theaters will be enhanced.

The Disney Wonder will be the first to debut 3-D movies on November 20 when it features a midnight viewing of Disney's latest animated film "Bolt." Characters from Bolt will also be appearing at this movie premiere. The Disney Magic will introduce 3-D on December 6.

In 2009, stage lighting, streamers, fog and lasers will be added in the Disney cruise ship's theaters. It will be part of a once per cruise screening of a 3-D movie with special effects.

Tom McAlpin, president of Disney Cruise Line, stated "With Disney Digital 3-D we can provide extraordinary cinematic experiences for our guests that no other cruise line can offer."

I remember a while back on the regular part of the thread someone saying that they were changing the TV’s in the rooms to flat screens? :happytv: Does any one know if this happened and if it did on the Magic and the Wonder? Or was I dreaming!:cloud9:

Thanks

The Magic got new flat screen tv's after drydock earlier this year. I don't think the Wonder will get them in time for our cruise as I believe drydock is scheduled for after our cruise (in October I think) and they should get them then.

:sunny: Good Morning Everyone.

Hope you have a great day :)

Congrats Flo on :bride: :thumbsup2
Congrats been2marceline on pirate: :thumbsup2

Take care.....Monika:daisy:

Yep, the Magic has new flat screens in the room and they are very nice. They pull out and swing around so you can position it toward the bed or the couch. It had a nice picture on it too. :flower3:

Oh well! Guess I will have to wait to see. I can handle the old ones.

What else have they done to the Magic? DH and I were on the last cruise before drydock and haven't seen the improvements yet. (Flatscreen TVs sound cool.)

We've done Palo brunch on our last two Member Cruises and really enjoyed it. There usually is something going on at the same time, but having said that it usually is something repeated later in the day. If we get on board and find that something is going on that we wouldn't want to miss we'd cancel Palo.

We haven't done Palo dinner for a number of cruises now as I like eating with our tablemates in the regular rotation. Others love Palo dinner and wouldn't miss it so it is up to each family.

On are last two cruises we did Palo dinner. All I can say is wow!:) THis past cruise we did a brunch. WOW WOW. It was great. If we do it I think we will do Brunch. I did not know what to eat first at the brunch. I was so full that I did not even have deserrt. I don't think we even went to dinner tht night. Have not decided that is why I figured I would ask. Also, the last 2 cruises were 7 day. Not sure if 4 days is long enought for Palo. Thanks Mary.

I agree. We've done Palo brunch and dinner on 7 and 5 day cruises, but I think we've decided to pass this time since this is a unique cruise and we want to catch everything else we can. We also want to spend the time w/other DISers, if possible.

Oooo, tomorrow we will be under 300 days! :woohoo:

Mark, I have a quick suggestion to add to your tips: Use lip protectant w/sunscreen like Blistex (last trip to CC, I ended up w/a HUGE cold sore on my bottom lip because I forgot the sunscreen :scared1: ).

Joannne,

I agree about the lips. I bring Blitex and abreva. I always end up with blisters on my lips from the sun if I don't. I don't just get one. I get them all over my upper and lower lip. They are pain full. So when ever I go on vacation I come prepared now.

You're the smart one. I completely didn't even think about it when we went to CC, and, boy, did I pay for it. It took 2 weeks for all the blisters to go away  .

Just checked the Disney site for our cruise and they still haven't updated it. Come on, guys!

You'll be happy to know that for the last two years DVC has given out lip balm at CC. Though both times they gave it out on the 2nd day (not sure why they didn't give it out the first day) and I can't promise they will give it out again. Good tip!

Just checking in....

I see alot of new names for this cruise vs the last 2 years. Welcome aboard all.

I decided that this will be my annual tradition, GOD willing.

So I have been on the last 2 and this year will be my third.

I am making less but longer trips to wdw, next trip in May. Of course I say that but one of my 19 year twins got accepted to the Disney College Program and is going down in Jan.... maybe I will have top bring him down to make sure he gets there alright :) .

Imagine being a lifeguard at Disney at 19 !!!! Wow He is living my Dream Job!!!

Anyways Hello all ... I will be talking to you !

We went to Palo on our first cruise (not the 2003 Members one). My dh and I really enjoyed it, but I think most of all we enjoyed the quiet couple of hours we had..kids went to the nursery!

I haven't gone on a Disney cruise for 5 years now, I can't remember if we are able to make reservations before we board??

Thanks!
