I am hooked on the DIS!!!

I have a little free time as I am out on a short leave from work.

After spending some time searching the DIS I now know.....

3. I will definitely need to purchase MORE points as I anticipate becoming a regular. I am already enjoying this and it has only been 2 days since I booked my first DCL. It's great to find other Disney PHANATICS. And yes, that is spelled correctly......at least for this PHIGHTING PHILLIES PHAN it is.

Questions:

Regarding dinner times. My kids and I are booked for late dining. When we are at WDW we tend to eat later and thought we would probably be doing the same. I figured we would be so busy with all the daily activities that we would not want to interrupt the fun.
Any thoughts? I assume we will be able to get snacks to hold us over.

When we are at Castaway Cay what time do we have to be back on the ship?

I have lots more questions but will end for now.

Best regards to all!

I'll try to provide more information for you on the questions above. One of the things about being on a DVC Member cruise is that there are always special offers if you add on points. We did this on SSMC05 and purchased 150 points at SSR but one thing I wish I did was bought 3 contracts at 50 points each. We gave our son 100 points for Christmas that year and he was so surprised! If you purchase points and want to leave them to your children, you may want to split your contract points for this reason.

DS graduated from St. Joseph's University in Philly this year, lives in a suburb of PHiladelphia and work at KoP so I understand what you are stating about being a PHAN.

Don't be concerned about food and eating late. We always go for early (main) dining because like others, I like to have dinner and then go to a show, Bingo or other event. DCL holds 2 shows - an early one for those who are eating later and a later one for those who are eating early. There are plenty of places to eat though. You can get sandwich wraps, pizza, chicken fingers, ice cream, fresh fruit, etc. Don't ever worry about being hungry while on board. You can even order room service and get cookies and milk at bedtime or a Mickey Mouse ice cream! We've never done this but I know some people who have.

We took our 12 year old DGS (dear god son) with us on our recent cruise on October 5 and signed him up for the Oceaneers Lab. He had a GREAT time. He got up in the morning and had breakfast with us then off he went to the lab. They had so many activities for his age group that he even left dinner early one evening to go back to the lab. While SSMC09 doesn't stop at Nassau, our cruise did and DGS decided to stay on the ship because of the fun filled day that was planned. The other nice thing is that you are given a beeper just in case your children are looking for you.

One other thing we did on that cruise was have DGS exchange emails with others his age so that he felt like he already knew someone before he got on board (just like us). This was also nice.

As for CC, I can't remember if we had to be back on the ship by 4:30 or 5pm. I was bound to a wheelchair at the time and got tired early so we didn't stay too long. I do recall on one of the SSMCs they were calling people's names over the loud speaker because they still weren't back on the ship and they were getting ready to leave.

I hoped I've answered some of your questions.

Annmarie

We were excited to get on this member cruise. We have been on one cruise and are getting ready to set sail on the 11/22 Magic sailing this Thanksgiving. We are blessed to be able to have our whole faimily on that trip.

This one will just be my wife and myself and we are looking forward to it.

We may come down a day early and return to WDW after the trip as well.

Hi All,

Quick question, I was reading on the webpage that has past cruise and I click something about essentials for cruisers and is it true about what it says for tips that it is included on the member cruise? Any info would be great. Thank you

:wave2: tiggerandpooh
Yes, it is true, tips are included in the Members Cruise. You may tip extra if you get excetional service from room attendant, dinner servers etc. On the members cruise 2008 our room attendant (Charlie) gave us exceptional service so we gave him an extra trip. I wasn't thrilled with our dinner servers, so no extra tip for them.
Hope this helps.
Take care.....Monika:flower3:

Yes, they are included in the member cruise. :) I am happy about that. Not that if I have good service I would not put more in there. ;) Mary had siad (correct me if I am wrong) that they give you tip envelopes like usual and I think she siad little cards to put in there. I like that idea allot. I wish they would do that with all the cruises. This means the only extra on the ship is for Souvenirs and drinks.:woohoo:

Yes, they give you tip envelopes at the end of the cruise.

The little cards are vouchers that you give to your servers and room attendants....you give them the last night.

Take care....Monika:flower3:
