Thanks to all of you (flo, Mary and, bigdoghu75) who have made me feel so welcome to this forum! We have been members of DVC for quite a while, our home resort is OKW. We went on the maiden voyage of the Disney Magic in 1998, and have cruised with Disney multiple times. We have been on one member cruise in 2005. That was an incredible cruise, (remember Ophelia?!). We are just recovering from using all our points, and, here we go again! YEA!

My husband and I will be traveling with my parents, they will be celebrating turning 75 next year and I am celebrating? turning 50! I would like to say there are children in our group but, aren't we all just kids at heart!

I feel this forum and all of you will make this cruise an even more special event because of all of you.

How do I PM? I think that means private message?

Thanks,

Ravonne

We were on the 2005 Ophelia cruise as well. Since then we have been in 07 & 08 but will not be going in 09. Just want to wish you lots of fun! By the time you go you will have so many friends. It makes the trip much more fun!

1) Yes it is jsut the bars, lounges and room service.

2) So far yes the Wounder and the Magic have pirate nights. So have some fun and do some shopping.pirate: at WDW.

But most important have a great time at the World.

Keep 'em comin' :)

1) The only other place it's not free is room service, as they get it from the bar services. Pop is free at sitdown meals, the deck 9 drink station and at the buffets on the ship and island.

2) Pirate night is something DCL does on all cruises now, not just a DVC thing. So yes, prepare away :)

Like I posted before you will get a lot of responses to your questions.

1) During our October 5 cruise, they offered special straws or things that clipped on my god child's glass. I think they offered Captain Hook or Tinker Bell. So while the soda was free, if you wanted the special cup/add-on they offered, it cost you extra money.

2) Now that Halloween is over most stores have all of their costumes and stuff on sale so now is a great time to buy pirate related stuff.

Thanks guys! :goodvibes

OK, first task -- Find some pirate gear! Check. I have 2 WDW trips in the up-coming month or so to see what is available before branching out.

Ravonne,

You are quite welcome! You will meet so many great people this way before we even set sale. I still e mail and send cards to people that I went on a cruise with in 2006.

I know I am a kid at hart and I am not growing up.:)

Actually, I remember getting a notice under our stateroom door discussing Tropical Storm 16 because it hadn't been officially named yet. That bus ride back to WDW was dreadful.

I was just thinking not only is this are first DVC cruise this is are first cruise with out my son (the one in the picture).

It is so going to be strange. But when you graduate college and get a job things change. But I have all my new DIS (DVC) frineds.

I don't think you can PM until you have 10 messages or more so keep sending them! :surfweb: Wow! You were on SSMC05 and could've run into a number of us. That was our very first cruise and I got emotional as we left the port. I can't imagine what it must've been like to be on the maiden voyage! I would love to do that with one of the new ships.

Annmarie

I recall seeing your T-shirts and wondering who this group was! And yes, that was an amazing cruise. I was so thrilled at all the wonderful gifts left on our bed every evening. My parents came with us on that trip also and they had a blast. I think I am even more excited for this SSMC09 cruise.

The maiden voyage was... interesting! Disney has so much to learn and promptly hired a cruise director after the maiden voyage. They gave everyone a beautifully framed lithograph of "Mickey at the Helm", as we left the ship. It is hanging in my living room. We waited a while before trying DCL again.

I can say, the member cruise is (IMHO) is the best Disney Cruise I have ever taken!

Thanks for all the information. We will be leaving a 14mo old with my parents so I think we will be going from the airport to the port on SUnday and then staying for maybe a day at wdw after, not sure yet. They told me to call back with airline info to get my transfers and that i needed to be at orlando by noon. The cost was 70.00 per person. I would welcome everyone or anyones opinions on this.

My opinion on getting to Orlando for a cruise is always always always get there the day before you sail. Even if it's late in the evening on Saturday, it's so worth it not to worry about one little hold up making you late for the ship.

We've actually done it where we've gotten to MCO around 11 or 12 at night, then just crashed at the Hyatt right there at MCO. Then we were up bright and early and on our way to the port. :)

Do I remember 2005 and Ophelia? Oh yeah! That was a great cruise.

The only thing I don't want to repeat from that cruise is docking in Ft. Lauderdale and having to bus back to Port Canaveral.

The bus took us right by our home, to Port Canaveral, where we had to get our car, turn around and drive back south for 2 more hours!

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for are cruise in 2006. I liked it but I am not so sure it is worth the money.

We had gotten a really great rate on the Hyatt (I believe it was $89!!) and since we were getting in so late, it didn't make sense to make it all the way to WDW just to sleep for 6 hours. ;)

I'm sorry we won't get to meet you. Maybe another year!

Here are two of the men who made that cruise so special:

Make that three men! :) My son's smoothie dad!! Although they didn't realize they were even related at that point! :lmao: :lmao:

Yeah? I'd have loved that. We had to be bussed back to Port Canaveral! Remember the rain and high winds that prevented us from docking there? Yeah, they dropped us off and let us drag our own luggage to our cars in that rain and wind! There were no porters to help because they were all bussed to Ft. Lauderdale to help there. :)

But we made it. And Ophelia definitely made it memorable. :)

DH feels the same way about the member cruise. He won a 4-night cruise through DCL/House Party and we went took our god son, his mom and his dad got his own cabin. That was their first cruise ever and had a blast! While DH and I had a great time with friends we consider family, DH said it just wasn't the same as the last two member cruises we went on in 2005 & 2006. He said he liked coming back to the room and finding surprises every night. He also liked the special guests that DVC had on the member cruises.

I know Disney is more expensive than other cruise lines but I can't imagine going with anyone else.

Annmarie

We cruised for the first time on the 2008 Members Cruise. How long should it take to get our Cataway Club info. When I booked for the '09 cruise yesterday, they asked for my club number, but I had not received yet.

Thanks,
Bill

Even though we're not going on the Member Cruise this time, may I humbly offer my services to be the score keeper of Swans and Pirate for the thread?:worship: I really enjoyed doing it for the last cruise.:hyper:

Wow - how generous of your Gary! I am glad they are letting you do it. I will miss getting pirates and swans and miss the cruise with all of you even more. Party bus???? Mack says to tell you, Mary, he feels very left out! :rotfl2:

This 08 members' cruise was also our first DCL one. We were on the phone with DCL for something else and simply asked for our numbers since we had not received them yet either. We still haven't received anything official with them, but we used them to book our 7 day next year and every time we call them or something, the number is verified. Just call, I guess.

:wave2: to another Bay Stater. I believe once you cruise it takes several months for them to send the cards out. At least that is what happened to us. Annmarie

I went online throught the DCL site and filled out their contact / email form and asked for the CC Numbers. They sent me our numbers within about 48 hours. We still do not have cards yet, but we have our numbers. :)

I second the above. I can't imagine crusing with any one else. :) I like seeing Mickey and Minnie and Friends. :)
