09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Got some news to share. I have a lot less stress than I've had the past couple of months. Layoffs are looming at my company and I was pretty sure I was going to be one of the ones cut (we're heavy in middle management where I am). Friday I was offered a job in a different department. I'm now going to be the cost analyst in the Accounting Department. I'm very happy especially when you consider what the alternative could have been. Plus it is a great department with great people and I get to learn some new software and some new skill sets. So no longer in management but it is a secure position and I don't have to look for a new company and start all over. All in all a very good thing and I'm happy.

Congrats on the new position.:thumbsup2 Much luck. You are right better then the other alternative.

Thanks everyone! I've been training for two days now and my head hurts. :lmao: Lots to try and remember. Having said that I really do like it and I'm so glad I was given the opportunity. Layoffs haven't happened and maybe they won't :confused3 but I still feel that this was right for me and I've been feeling much better since it happened.

Haven't mentioned anything on Facebook because I am friends with people who are friend with people who still work there and don't want my worries about possible layoffs scaring anyone. My gut still tells me they will happen and that I would have been on the list.

Glad you are liking the new position. Learning new things is always fun.

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Flash - I am with you I hope things are well with Sue and Family.

Take care everyone and have a great weekend.

Hi there! I'm BACK !

Wow, you all are so very sweet to be so worried about me! I can't tell you how much it has all meant to me! I only read back a few pages - my DBFF Gail is over for a visit and said that she had read all of the posts and that you were all looking for me - so ta da - here I am!

First of all, Lisa, sorry I didn't respond to the lovely message that you sent to Dustin on FB. He read it to me and I could hardly speak. Thank you so much for your concern. It was very nice of you to try to keep in touch through him, and I really appreciate it.

To all of my cruisin' buddies - THANK YOU ! I missed you too. :lovestruc

Let me say first off that all is well with DS in Afghanistan. (knock on wood) I hear from him once every two weeks or so by email. He has sent some pictures and he seems to be adjusting to his job there. He was really unhappy with the living arrangements, it was apparently very crowded in the barracks where he is - so my creative-thinking son decided that it was well within his ability to order himself a "portable housing unit" that seems to be a 8' by 20' trailer, that he can have all to himself! At last we spoke, he was waiting for the electricity to be hooked up. That's my boy!! But he seems well and safe, so that's all that matters. It has kept me in kind of a dark place where I haven't been out much or talked to too many people, so for that, I apologize to all of my friends!

Then there was summer camp, which just ended on Friday - THANK HEAVENS! It was another tough summer with another new camp director who works year-round in the GS office. She thought that she was all that and a bag of chips so she was very hard to work with - after all, me only having 19 years experience shouldn't know more than her - right? :confused3
And the teenage brats who caused all of the problems last year were - you guessed it - hired back again!! Who does these stupid things!! But after going toe-to-toe with this lady at least twice, we'll see if I even get interviewed next year!

And finally there is more news about my mom. And not good, I'm sorry to say. After experiencing a vision problem, we went to the eye doctor, who said there had been a clot that had broken in the back of her right eye that was causing all of her problems, but her heart rate was really high and she sent her for tests. After an EKG, an ultrasound on the right carated (spelling ?) artery and and echo cardiogram, they sent her to a cardiologist. He then sent her for a heart cathorization which was all day in the hospital, but she did really well through that. But the results were a little more dramatic that we all were ready for. She apparently has what they call critical aortic stenosous - her aorta value should be opening at about 3.4 cm ( I think cm) but hers is only opening .6 cm. That is putting a great deal of strain on her heart, but amazingly enough, that is still working fine. She shows no outward signs of all of this which is crazy. Then they said that 3 out of the 4 main arteries have 80 percent blockages. So it has to be full open heart surgery with a long recovery - and she doesn't think she wants any parts of that. So now I suppose it will be a wait and see game, making me more nuts! And I thought I was gray before all of this! :rotfl2:

I want to say hi to everyone individually - but that will make this post about three pages long!! I promise I will be on here more often, and will try to conquer my FB page - still not sure how all that works.

Mary, I reeeeaaaally miss our Sunrise Club! Miss you guys and glad to here that you had a nice visit with Dianne and Michael and Flo and Danny. Wish I could see some of you!

Dave, thanks for the pirate: ! How's everything in Red Sox country?

Chris, I am so jealous that you guys will be on the Member Cruise soon! Sounds like you guys are going to have fun in November too! Have a Sammy for me in America!!

Flo, you will love it when it snows on Main Street!

Dianne, glad to hear that Michael is healing well!

Miss you all - gee it's Sunday - shouldn't it be time for a sail-away party!?! :yay:

Sue,

I am so happy to hear that everything is okay!! Just glad you are back to chat with all of us!!

Sue - so glad that you checked in! Sounds like you have been one busy lady! Happy to hear the good news and sorry to hear about your Mom. Prayers and pixie dust for you and the whole family.

We just got back from 3 nights up in Milwaukee at Irish Fest. What a wonderful time we had. One bittersweet moment was finding out one of the members of our favorite band is battling recurrent cancer. Got a chance to talk to him this morning before Mass and told him how much the fest has meant to me over the years and especially last year when I was dealing with my own cancer. Needless to say it ended in tears. He's such a sweet guy and since I'm such a believer in prayers and all the prayers you all had for me I have a request. If you have room on your prayer list please add Chuck Ward.

Yes, it's good to be back on with all of my friends!

Thanks Dave! It's nice to be chatting again - I really did miss it so much and catching up with all of you will take pages I'm sure. Did you go on the transatlantic?

Hi Mary! Thanks for the "hello"! Glad you had a nice time away, and really sorry to hear about your friend - will be glad to add him to my prayer list for sure!

Lisa - CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MASTERS!!!! :yay: :cheer2:

Hello All!

I am so happy to see some activity out here.

Welcome Back Sue! So happy and relieved that you are well. I am sorry to hear about your mother. It sounds like you had a tough summer at camp.

Mary - Good luck with the new job. Happy that you were given the opportunity to try something new versus possibly being let go.

Thanks for the Congrats regarding the Masters. I feel like you all have lived through this past year and a half with me as I struggled through the long nights. Thank you for all your support and encouragement. Can you believe during my final meeting they tried to talk me into working on my doctoral degree. I laughed and said No Thanks!

Well I need to get back to work. Audit time again.

I'll check back out here more frequently now that I know you are all checking in.

Take care

Hi Everyone!

Sue - Glad you are back. You sure had allot going on. Glad your son is doing good. Also,:wizard: for you and your mom.

Sue, we had to cancel the TA due to Tanya's mom health issues. We did reschedule to a Feb vacation week 4 day on the Dream for next year instead. The kids think that is a great swap....:rotfl2:

Hey everyone!

Just thought I would say that as we are getting closer to this year's Members Cruise, we will be remembering last year's cruise and all of you. It won't be the same without you guys, but we will try to have a good time. ;)

And the Deck 9 Sunrise Coffee Club will be missed. We will go up there to toast you all with Pepsi and Coffee. :goodvibes

Is anyone still considering next year's cruise??????

Have a great time! Is anyone else going? I know that Monika & MJ will also be on the cruise.

I am still toying with the idea of the '11 cruise, but to be honest, I am getting too many things backing up within a month or so of the cruise. I am taking my niece to WDW during the 3rd week of August next year plus I may be going to a National Park fan convention the weekend prior to the trip with my niece.

Does anyone know how the crowds are in July (not 4th of July week)? One option may be to move the trip with my niece into July but I would have to think about it some.

Well it has been a while since I have posted but we are getting soooo close! Looking forward to meeting everyone!:cool1:

Yes, Chris, we are definitely going to try to get in for next year's member cruise. Please tell me you guys are going to, please! I'm really hoping for a reunion of the Deck 9 Sunrise Club plus many more from ssmc09.

Dave, please tell Tanya that I will sending prayers to her mom. How is she now? It's a shame you had to cancel, but I know how you feel because I had to cancel out of our trip with the English Scouts because of my mom's health. But it does sound like you made a good switch - glad the kids are happy. You'll have to let us all know how nice the new ship is - wow, how exciting!

Hello DIS friends!

I have been DREAMing of the SSMC11. Just waiting and waiting for the details to arrive in the mail. I can't wait! And the kids are very excited also. DS is lovin the new 'tween' club.

Dave that sounds like fun being able to go on the DREAM in Feb. You'll have to scope out a great place to hang out for the Sunrise Club and report back to everyone. I can't wait to join you all this time.

Hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer as August comes to a close. For us it ends with yet another heat wave. Ugh.

I started going to the gym. I won a 1 month free membership a while back and waited until school ended to use it. Did cardio on Friday and then last night and tonight I did some cardio and then the Life Circuit. I'm a little sore but should sleep good tonight. Starting out slow but looking forward getting into shape. To date I've lost about 43 pounds and have been able to keep it off. I hope to reach my goal and lose about 20 more pounds and then maintain it with healthy eating and exercise. Going to get DS signed up in the next few days so he can go with me and start doing the cardio.

Maybe by the SSMC11 you won't even recognize us. Well DS you won't recognize anyway. I think he's over 5'7" and only 11 years old.

Have a safe holiday! School starts next Tuesday for the kids here. Yeah!!

Take Care

Lisa - congrats on the weight loss. That is awesome. Me and DH are walking on our noon hour right now. Just trying to get the legs in shape for WDW.

We too are talking about the Members Cruise next year. The only thing is, we will be at WDW on the call in day in November. So not sure how that is going to work out. And we are thinking it will just be me and him on next year's. The oldest will be in college and the youngest is just involved in too many things. I think taking them out of school this year is going to be rough on them. But they really wanted to go, and we do hate leaving them behind. So they are going with. And we are so ready to go. Just keep your fingers crossed that all those storms out in the Atlantic stay away from CC!

Lisa, that is fabulous that you've lost so much weight - what is your secret?! I can't seem to get past 5 pounds!! Could be too many distractions, but I've got to do something!

Good idea about having Dave scope out our morning club spot - sounds like a plan! Sunrise Clubbers Unite!

Chris, I really really want you and Bob to come on the ssmc11 - please!!!!!
Do you know when the call day is? I hadn't heard yet. If I get in, I'll be glad to make your reservation for you - just leave your info with me. :thumbsup2

I will pray for a calm Atlantic!!

So happy to see some action on this thread!

Chris - have a great time on the Member Cruise. Please come back and tell us all about it. Here's hoping for calm waters and no little suitcases. :lmao:

Dave - you will have to tell us all about the Dream.

Sue - we're still undecided about the 2011 cruise (looking doubtful with one cruise already booked and my pay cut) but it won't hurt to "dream" (pun intended).

Lisa - congrats on the weight loss. Great job. I'm afraid I've been going the other way. :sad2:

I really miss all my deck 9 chatting buddies. What wonderful mornings those were!

Sue - I believe I saw some where that call in day will be November 6th. And we will be down for F&W. And yes I will be glad to drink a festival beer for you. :thumbsup2 It would be fun to drink one with you though. ;)

Mary - wish you would be able to go next year. Please "Dream" big. :goodvibes And you cracked me up about the little suitcases. :lmao: I so hope we don't get those this year. We usually end up leaving ours because we have no room for them and really no use for them either.

Dave - what about you guys and next year?????? Flo, Dianne, Robbie, JoAnn and you too?

And thanks for the well weather wishes. We are hoping the hurricanes will stay away from CC and Florida.
