09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

So where will you be staying?

And what is a must do while you are there? I know everyone has there favorite things they have to do!:woohoo:

We (my nephew and me) will be at Kidani for this trip.

Let's see, our must do for this trip (though it is a secret from my nephew) is that we are going to the "Return To Endor" party at DHS on the day we arrive. It is actually part of an Orlando Star Wars Convention but we are just doing the party. He is a big Star Wars fan and will be totally surprised! :thumbsup2

Wow you are a busy person!! I know when my DGD was living with us for around 3 years, it was a lot of work, and worth every minute.

Well your family in growing, maybe not the way we plan, but it really dosen't matter. Just as long as there is love, and some how God seems to give challanges to keep us on out toes. And without the challanges it could be a little dull, although I kind of prefer a little dull. I am so, glad you will get to go on the cruise soon.:dance3:

Michael will go to the Doctor on Thursday to see if he can be released to go to work, He is now 15 on the list and some calls are starting to come into the Union hall...we can only pray.. And I have been home sick since Monday with a sinus infection, I hope tomorrow when I get up, I feel well enough to go to work, latley my head feels like it is going to explode!:scared1:

Talk to you all soon!!

That's great news that Micheal if finally getting some calls. Hopefully, he will be working soon! pixiedust:

I don't DIS much, for lack of time - and I only just brought up my facebook page for the first time since joining 4-5 years ago. Anyway, everyone here seems to up on facebook, I was wondering if there were a couple of pointers to help me get focused into finding / joining Disney related pages/threads - facebook overall seems like one jumbled collection of shards of people's thoughts. I'm sure I'll like it once I'm set up to cut through the clutter - but if anyone has suggestions to get started, please - HELP!

I will be interested to see the replies that you get. When I first started on FB, I joined a lot of groups thinking that it would be like threads here on the various message boards. But I must admit that I rarely end up going to any of them.

Here's my 2 cents for what it is worth.

To me the best way to find groups is when I see friends joining them. You can do a search but you'll find lots and lots of Disney pages. Some official, some fan pages. There are also groups which can be just about anything.

If your friends or a fan page does a post it will show up on the "home" page. Things from the groups won't do that. When you are on the home page you will see the word group on the left hand side. If you click that it will take you to the list of groups and they will say if there are new wall posts and new photos. You can then decide if you want to go view them.

Some of the "like" or fan pages I have are DCL, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Milwaukee Irish Fest, Sonic, Chick-fil-a (you get the idea).

Some of the groups I belong to are NCIS, my high school alumni, my grade school alumni, Growing up in Oak Park, the group for the wedding cruise we just went on. Again I think you get the idea.

Both fan pages and groups have discussion tabs and those tabs work a little bit like the DIS with someone posing a question and then people responding to it.

Hope this helps.

Wow that sounds like a lot of fun!!!

You will have to tell me how you liked Kidani?

Update on Michael, the Doctor wants him to continue rehab a little longer and does not want to release him until Aug 18th....ugh oh well, we have waited this long, its all in gods hands now.:littleangel:

Hi Everyone!

I to have been on facebook. I just decided to check in and we have been busy here.

Mary - Congrats on the new addition to DVC

Dianne - Pixie dust for you and your hubby.

Robbie - Have a great time.

Susan - My heart goes out to you. :littleangel: Best of luck

:surfweb:

So I am now toying with a F&WF trip... I have points left in my '10 UY plus my AP is good until the beginning of Dec. Jet Blue is running a sale until Friday and there are some $89 flights (one way) between Boston and Orlando. Gee, it looks like I may be calling DVC tomorrow to see if I can find myself a studio for a few days.

Well HELLO DIS Friends!!!

I am happy to see some current posts out here. I was periodicially checking but I had not seen any posts in such a long time. I was sad that we seemed to be slowly dropping off.

Several of us keep in touch on FB but this is a nice change from FB.

Mary - From your posts on FB and here, it really sounds like you and Mark had a wonderful cruise. As I type I can't help but think back to this time last year and everything going on in your life. What a difference a year makes! :thumbsup2 Here's to continued good health. :tink:

Dianne - I hope you are feeling better soon. Seems like you have been under the weather for a while now. Here's to getting better and good news for Michael :tink:

Robbie - Great to hear from you. Have a great trip! The special event sounds like fun.

Susan - I am so very sorry to hear the news about your DD. I know you and your DH did so much to help her. I recall the vivid details of all the events in Philly when you were searching for her. Heart breaking. I won't pretend to know how difficult things have been for her (or you) but just from what I have seen and heard from others with similar experiences.... every day is a struggle. I know your DGS is in good hands with all the love you and your DH have to offer.

ehagerty - I am sorry but I'm not certain of your first name. I'm thinking Eileen. I can picture you and your husband. I can even hear your voice in my head from when we spoke on the SSMC09. Did not want to back out of my post screen to go search in the gallery. So, if I got it wrong my apologies. I will check once I finish this post. ;)

As for FB, when I first built my account I never really did much with it for the first couple of months. I had no idea what all the things meant.. :lmao:
home vs profile vs wall vs info ...message vs comment on wall vs poke...:lmao: you get the picture. Then when I would get all these notifications half did not make sense and I did not even know the people sending them. It has taken me a while to really figure out what I do know so far. Also, what I see when I access FB on my laptop is a little different than how i see it on my phone so that took me a while to figure out.

I will look for you on FB and send a friend request if I find you. There are several other people on here that are also on FB. Feel free to send any questions..either on my wall or in a private message. If I can help at all I will.

FLO - Hi! Speaking of FB. I am not sure how you have your account set up but I can only ever send you a message by responding to something you posted that shows up on my wall or notifications. When I select you on my friends list I never have the option to see your wall or send a message. I can only ever see your profile page. Not sure if you meant to set it up this way but I figured I would let you know. I wanted to send you a note one day but could not.

Hope everything is going well with your job.

I see Chris, Dave, and Marsha out on FB. Everyone seems to be doing well. Although Dave and Tanya did end up cancelling their WBTA cruise. That is really a shame.

As for all our other DIS friends out there. Hope all is well and you are having a great summer!

I am still missing Sue. Have not seen or heard from her on FB or here. I even sent her DS a private message on FB asking him to let her know we were thinking of her and worried that we had not heard from her in so long. I have not heard back. :sad1: I have to say I am really worried that something might be wrong. It is just not like her to not check in at all. If anyone does get a message from her or has any news please just post a quick note.

As for the kids and I, we are doing well. DS just got back from a week of boy scout camp. DD just started getting sick on Monday so she is actually not feeling well at the moment. Head cold, lost her voice, and starting to get some chest congestion and cough. Pharmacist told me tonight it is going around. He had it and is still trying to get over it.

Only a few weeks left of class for me. I have lots and lots of work to do for the final paper. Have not done anything since my last assignment. So busy with all the changes at work. Everything went through with the sale of our company as of 7/1 so it's been really crazy this month. I am currently on my computer working on our current SAS 70 audit and needed a break. Jumped on here just to take a quick look to see if anyone has posted. A novel worth of comments later and I am still out here. :lmao:

Well, enjoy the rest of your summer and any upcoming DIS vacations. We are going in November - 16 of us. :scared1:

:flower3: Take Care!

Thanks! I'll be done there from Sept 30 until Oct 5.

Cool Robbie. Hope you have a good time. You will have to let us know how it is. We will be down there the first weekend in November. We can't wait. We are taking one of Bobby's long time friends/military buddies down with us for his first time ever to WDW. Plus our friends from Florida are to be joining us. The three guys worked for years together in the IA Army National Guard so it will be fun for the three of them to be together again.

Be sure to let us know though how it goes for you. It is one of my favorite times to be down there. :goodvibes

Got some news to share. I have a lot less stress than I've had the past couple of months. Layoffs are looming at my company and I was pretty sure I was going to be one of the ones cut (we're heavy in middle management where I am). Friday I was offered a job in a different department. I'm now going to be the cost analyst in the Accounting Department. I'm very happy especially when you consider what the alternative could have been. Plus it is a great department with great people and I get to learn some new software and some new skill sets. So no longer in management but it is a secure position and I don't have to look for a new company and start all over. All in all a very good thing and I'm happy.

Thanks everyone! I've been training for two days now and my head hurts. :lmao: Lots to try and remember. Having said that I really do like it and I'm so glad I was given the opportunity. Layoffs haven't happened and maybe they won't :confused3 but I still feel that this was right for me and I've been feeling much better since it happened.

Haven't mentioned anything on Facebook because I am friends with people who are friend with people who still work there and don't want my worries about possible layoffs scaring anyone. My gut still tells me they will happen and that I would have been on the list.

Congrats Mary!!

I am sure you have done the right thing with all the uncertainty at the mid levels!!

Hope everyone is doing okay, has anyone heard from Sue? Haven't heard anything since her son left for overseas, I hope all is well with them.

Things here are busy as usual, summer activities in full swing.

Sure do miss our Sunrise Club mornings!!:grouphug:
