09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Sue - Hi!!!!! Sorry I didn't respond to your other post but I am really bummed too that we will be missing each other by a day. Darn it! Can't you stay another day???????? I know you can't. Hopefully we will meet up again someday. Do I hear 2011 Member Cruise?????

I'm glad you had a Super Holiday season with your son home and all. I bet you are glad to get things back to normal though. Our girls don't start school until tomorrow because the teachers needed an in-service day today. Don't know what they did for the last two weeks but they still needed today, paaaaalllleeeeeeessssseeeeeee! :sad2: But tomorrow things will get back to craziness around here.

I hope you guys have a fantastic trip to the world in a couple weeks. Hopefully the renovations won't be too bad for you guys. We love going over there and having drinks at the bar by the clown pool. The girls have even pool hopped so they could go down the slide once, or twice or more. They loved it. I hope Dustin and friend are able to have as much fun. I'm excited for you just typing this. Wee Hee!!!!!!

Well, take care and stay warm!!!! :flower3:

I know - don't you just wish you could change plans - just for that one day!! But we will definitely have to plan it again - all of us!!!!! :rotfl:

How much is the owners locker you are getting and where is it - if you don't mind me asking. I was thinking about one but I wasn't sure if I'd have enough to really need one - how big is it?

Question for anyone else who uses a nearby grocery - is there a minimum size to your order and how much lead time do they need?

Well, I don't remember much about the cost or how big the locker is. DH did this. We will be getting it for the first time when we go down in January. We plan on putting alot of bathroom stuff (shampoos, sun screen, toothpaste and the stuff that is hard to take on airplanes anymore), laundry soaps, extra drinks that haven't been opened. We want to leave some unbreakable mugs and other stuff. If you go to the owners locker site it can tell you all about it. We just figure that we are going at least two times a year and that it will be worth it for us. We are hoping to not check luggage when we fly by doing this. And we have read that they can even meet you at MCO to give you your box and you would be able to take it with on a cruise!

As for groceries, we have never utilized the service Disney offers. We have always gone to Goodings by DTD, expensive, or we have found a Super Wal-Mart that is close by that we will go to. So, sorry I can't help ya there.

Have a great day with mom! And stay warm.

Hey Dave - how did you like the AKV? What kind of view did you have? Would you stay there again? I always feel like it's so far from everything else.

Today's a "mom" day - take her to the hairdresser and probably take down her pretty light-up tree on the front porch - that is if I can stand being outside for that long - we'll see!

Sue-We stayed at Kidani and the room was awesome, it is now my favorite resort. We had a savannah view and the animals were visable most of the time. Our only complaint was the room is very dark, so bring a reading light if thats what you like to do. We will definitely stay there again, and the bus rides were not that long to get to the parks. Have fun on your trip, where did you say you were staying?

Haven't been on this board for a while, catching up now.

Playing farmville on facebook with Mary and Mark, and some of you who don't let your crops wither and die! Fun and addictive.

Spent 12/11-18 in the world at SSR. It was a wonderful time with exception of our room, two bedroom dedicated: no airconditioning which was worked on for 7 days, no iron, no pack n play, hardward missing from drawers, no welcome mat, lamp in living room broken, curtian fixture broken. Think they used the room for spare parts. I was credited with 2 days of points for the lousy room. But Christmas in the world is so beautiful. Makayla (4) went with us for the first time without her parents, and our daughter and grandson Cameron (2) were with us. The kids loved the room and all of the extra doors and rooms to hide in. Makayla keeps telling me she wants to go back to our hotel because it is nicer than our houses. LOL
Christmas at the Brown family was a blast...Zhu Zhu pets running wild, rhythm bands pounding, Barbies, princesses, Star Wars, Leap Tag Readers...with a 5, 4, 4, 2 year old grandkids it was toyland for sure.
Quiet new year, except watching my fireworks and ball drop on farmville/facebook. Cold weather here in PA. Miss Florida. It was in the 80's while we were there. Not too crowded, either.
It's fun to read what everyone is up to. Sorry we will miss this year's cruise.
I got to WDW too late in the day to go to Disapalooza's Marty Sklar talk. Heard it was fabulous. I so want to see him one day. D23 took him from our cruise...darn them. Maybe now that we complained, the cruise will be better as far as planning and events.
Hope everyone has a blessed, healthy and safe 2010!
Susan

I'm so happy that you liked it there - even after all of our teasing that it would be like being at the zoo! Glad it was so nice! Pictures of the interior looked a little dark so I guess you found that to be true.

We're at Boardwalk this time with a two-bedroom. It's supposed to be the pool view, but of course, the day we get there they are starting the pool refurbishment! So I requested to be changed to a boardwalk view - so we'll see. Dustin is excited about bringing a friend, so I hope everything works out. :confused3

Hey - Happy New Year to my partner in Susan Squared!!!! It's been a while, glad all is well and holidays were nice! Yes, it is very cold here in the Northeast lately. Wow, I've never seen a room as bad as you described - that's amazing.

We go down on the 17th. Hope it warms up by then. :lmao:

Hi everyone just back from wdw and the new years eve celebrations where great. we had a mk view from blt and wish i could get that every year. As for owners locker this is our first year having one and we actually expanded to two. It is so nice to have regular things in there we use everyday. We feel it is well worth the money on them.

Pm me if you like on them and i can fill you in more on our experience with them

Hi everyone, well unfortunately my mother lost her battle today and past away this afternoon. She had another heart attack this afternoon and that was it.

I am still trying to figure out what if anything to place in my facebook status.

Hello Everyone!

Hope all is well.

Dave - The job is going quite well. Thanks for asking. Getting up at 4AM in the morning gets to me by the end of the week.

Sounds like you had a great time at the World. Glad you liked the AKL. We stayed at the lodge and had a savanna view and also loved the view. I used to get up get a cup of coffee and sit on the balcony and watch the animals.

Susan - So sorry to hear your experience at SSR.

PDFG and all our friends who need it - especially Robbie today!

Oh, Robbie, I am so very sorry to hear about your mom. Just keep all your good memories of her foremost in your heart. We'll keep you in our prayers. :grouphug:

Robbie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Having lost a parent, I know how hard it is - hope your happy memories will see you through.

OMG, Susan, I can't believe how bad your room was at SSR. We have never had a bad room like that. The only thing wrong with our room last time was that the chair in the living room was pretty badly stained. But other than that everything was fine. I hope when we go down in a couple weeks our room will be ok. We own at SSR and find it kind of upsetting that your room was in such a state. I'm glad that they credited you back 2 days of points for the inconvenience. But besides the room it sounds like you had a wonderful time. :goodvibes

I posted this on the SSR owners and lovers thread and would you believe that another family had the exact same room in Nov and had the same issues.
No A/C and she noticed that the knobs were missing on the dresser...on two drawers...that's why I think they were using it for parts...no pack n play in a dedicated 2 bedroom? No iron? No working lamp? Hummm..and NO WELCOME HOME MAT!! But we did have a great time, thanks.

Hey, Robbie. I am close to losing my mother and I can't imagine how sad that will be. She has been ill for years with heart and lung problems. She can't speak but a few words because she is so short of breath, and her long term memory is now going too. My heart goes out to you and you are in my prayers. Like Mary said, I hope your memories of your mother will help you get through all of this. I am so fortunate to have my parents at my age, but I know that day is coming soon. Blessings to you.

:grouphug: Thank you so much everyone! While my sisters and I have known that this day would come probably sooner than later, it still always seems a bit of a surprise. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers very much.

Susan, pixiedust: for your mother. I will pray for her also. You are in a similar position to where we were. My mother had a hard almost 4 years and between kidney and heart issues was getting a bit worse after each incident and since her cancer had returned I don't think that she relished the thought of fighting it again. As prepared as I thought that I was, when I got the call it was still a bit of a surprise, but I am glad that I was able to visit her multiple times over the Christmas break. Again, thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers and I will keep your mother in your prayers. It is so hard to loose a parent at any age. :grouphug:

:coffee: Good Morning Deck 9 Sunrisers & all my Friends :coffee:

Cold again but not as bad as the last few days here in Jersey. And I know that all my friends in the Chicago area are getting pounded with snow right now. That will be heading our way late tonight and tomorrow! Yippee, more snow!! I like to watch it and see it on the ground - I just hate trying to get around in it.

I go to mom's today and I'll take her to the food store so that she'll have everything she needs - not that it will be that big of a deal with the snow - we're only forecast for about 2 or 3". But she likes to have things "just so".

Lisa, you asked before about the Klondike Derby at Roosevelt SR. Is your son participating in it?

So new news for the upcoming trip to see The Mouse - now middle DS Tom says he has a change in his Florida itinerary and he might be spending more than just a day or two with us. Now he has me pricing things for all 4 or 5 days! Kids!! But will love to have him along - of course!! :rotfl2:
