i was wondering when everyone is leaving for the member cruise. I you are coming early where are you staying. if you are staying after where are you staying.

i am leaving sept5 for a 7 day cruise on disney magic. Then i iam staying one night at vero beach and then the member cruise then heading home.

Sandi and I will be driving down. Our plan is to leave on Thursday (the 10th ?) and spend 2 days driving. We will end up in St Augustine and spend Saturday in St Augustine. On Saturday night we will stay either in St Augustine or down by the port. Then on Thursday after the cruise, we will start heading home but our plan right now is that we won't get home until Sunday. We hope to make 1 or 2 stops along the way to sight see. We just need to figure out where.

DS is really excited. He got an invitation from his karate instructor for his Black Belt test - she believes he is ready! That will take place on Aug. 9th and it is an all-day event. There is quite a bit of work that has gone into this and he is just beaming from ear to ear that he can finally test and hopefully earn his Black Belt. Wish him luck!

Wow, congratulations to your son!!!!!!:banana:

Yes we are doing a DIS meet at the Beach Club the day before the cruise just like the past couple of years. Full details including a map on the web page (link can be found in the first post on this thread).

I know after last years meet some went over to Epcot to hang out and view Illuminations. Not sure if anyone talked about that this year.

I won't be able to go to Epcot..I don't have annual pass this year. not sure if we will be in the parks for more than a day or 2 after the cruise. I'll have to find a different place to view the fireworks

Good morning everyone - happy Saturday!

Sue - congrats to your son and good luck with his black belt test!

Dianne - you can see a lot of the Illuminations fireworks from the bridge between Beach Club and Boardwalk. We'll be over at Fort Wilderness after the meet as we are going to Trails End with friends.

Member Gallery Update!

Stop by and get to know Frank (aka Pinocchio) and his DW Rosemary (aka Fairygodmother). Frank and Rosemary have been on a number of Member Cruises.

Link to the gallery can be found in the first post.

We had some strong storms go through here last night. I know it was bad because my older dog does not like them, so I did not get much sleep last night. My neighbor has a canopy on her deck well the top of it is gone (the cover) all that is left is the frame. We also have are festival this weekend. I wound what came down there during the night. Oh Well.

Have a good day.

Take care
Flo

Marsha - Have a great time at the wedding.

Sue – Congrats to your son!
:thumbsup2

Happy Saturday! :goodvibes

Sue - good luck to your son on taking his black belt test.

Flo - too bad about the storms. I know they were bad on the eastern side of Iowa yesterday.

Well, gotta go for now. Going to go do some shopping. Have a great day! :flower3:

Has any one every ordered there groceries through the resort? Since we will be in late on Friday I was thinking of doing that so that we at least have something in the room when we get there.

Hello! My name is Carrie and I am going on the Disney member cruise with my family! (Hubby ryan, DD Claire 8, DS Christian 2, and DS Cameron 1). It will be our first cruise, and I am SOOO excited!!

I am so excited to go, it is all I think about! Any words of wisdom from the pros out there?
thanks.
Carrie
:welcome: aboard :sail: Carrie and family :wave2: This is a great place to learn a lot about the Member cruise. I even think there are several who were aboard every DVC Member Cruise. Everone here a wealth of knowledge so don't be afraid to ask questions. I am sure you'll get an answer or many times several esponses to one question. DH and I have only been on three cruise and all were Disney 4-night cruises; 2 member SSMC05 and SSMC06.

DH won a DCL cruise for 4 nights. While it wasn't a DVC Member cruise, it was a change. We were able to take our God Child (12) and his parents (with an extra cabin), That was a lot of fun because we were able to enjoy seeing their faces and excitement going on around them (for there first time). As far as our God Child, we saw him during meals because he had a "crush" on our server :lmao:

Great news for DS!! :grouphug: :cheer2:

I need a vacation - oops - that's right - we're cruising! Please, can it be Sept. 13th tomorrow!!:thumbsup2

Flo, we usually order some food to be sent to our room before we arrive at a DVC resort. So far we have not had a problem. Prices are the same as buying them from the conveince area of food areas in that resort.
Last year when we went to AKL, in addition to having our food already in our room, we also recieved a plate of chocolate chip cookies and a caraffe of milk just as a "thank you from the staff". Nothing better than free cookies and milk.

Well, since the cruise is getting much closer and since it has been 5 years since my previous cruise, what can you DCL vets tell us about the first day? Let's see some of my questions are:

1) What time can you board the ship?

2) What is the advantage of on-line check in?

3) What time can we go into our cabins?

4) Are there any perks for Castaway Cay members?

5) What else should we know???

Well, since the cruise is getting much closer and since it has been 5 years since my previous cruise, what can you DCL vets tell us about the first day? Let's see some of my questions are:

1) What time can you board the ship? I think around noon.

2) What is the advantage of on-line check in? All, you have to do is being the charge form with instead of all the other forms.

3) What time can we go into our cabins? 1:30 or 2:00

4) Are there any perks for Castaway Cay members? 90 day Palobooking, etc. and a gift in stateroom.

5) What else should we know??? Enjoy and have fun! Also, have a fofo drink.:)

I did the above from memory so if I am wrong I am sure some one will know the correct answer.

The most important thing to me is being on the ship and having fun.:woohoo:

Take care

1. Usually they start boarding about noon. As you arrive, before check-in, you are given a number and they call the groups of numbers to board.

2. On line check in is great! you don't have to fill out the little cards in the brown guest travel booklet. Everything is printed on the 2 sheets of paper you give to the CM checking you in at the port. One has to be signed by the credit card holder and the other one is the cruise contract, and every one over the age of 18 has to sign, and the parent signs for the younger ones.

3. The cabins are ready by 1:30pm. Usually, by the time you have checked in, gone to brunch at one of the buffets (Parrot Cay or Beach Blanket Buffet) your room will be ready so you can drop off your carry ons and if you want, you can change into your swim suits.
Your other luggage is usually there by the time you get back from the life boat/safety drill.

4.well, the main perk for Castaway Club members is the lanyard and the gift bag you get in your room. But, remember, this is a DVC cruise and you'll get LOTS and LOTS of gifts!

5. Be sure to go to the SAIL away Party!!!

There are several grocery delivery companies that cater just to the resorts. They will shop for you and then deliver to your room. The food is cheaper and the variety is bigger because they shop at regular stores like Publix.
GardenGrocer.com is one I know of.

:thumbsup2 we have used them on several occasions. They are really good!

Wow, for as many times as we've been there, I've never used an outside grocer - actually didn't know I could. We either shop when we get there, or bring our own from home - even when we fly (that way I have extra room for goodies when we go home)! I love this place - I learn more and more! :)

Thanks so much - you all are so nice!

When I showed my DS all of your well-wishes and congratulations for his Black Belt test, he was really delighted! Thank you so much - you all made his day! I'll let you know how he does on the 9th!
