We will be getting there early- we fly in on the 10th... just in time for the Not So Scary halloween party! This was a double bonus for me, since that is my favorite thing that Disney does! This will be our first time staying off the Disney Properties. My husband will be down there for work, so we are staying where they are paying! (The Hilton by downtown Disney). I guess I will have to cancel my Animal Kingdom reservations....

Carrie,

The Hilton is not so far away. If you don't have to pay for it that is even better. You can save the Animal Kingdom for another time.

Take care

:goodvibesFor all of you Chicago people, are you aware the Disney A Christmas Carol Train will be in Chicago ,,July 24th thru 26th at 225 South Canal Street, next stop St. Louis...I hope you can go.:goodvibes

Diane,

We are thinking about it. BUt I am afraid it is going to be a zoon down there. We could catch the train out here and take it right into union station. We will see.

P.S. Mike the Magnet is real cool! Great Job.:thumbsup2 Can't wait to see your door when passing out the fish extender gifts.

Morning!

Good morning everyone - happy Friday!

Mike - great job on the magnet. Very cool!

Dianne - we heard about the Christmas train a few weeks ago but we have other plans this weekend so we are going to have to miss it.

RC4 - since you will be down there early think about coming to the DIS meet on Saturday the 12th. Details on the web page. It is a great way to meet your fellow cruisers before you board the ship. It is held at the Beach Club which is a short walk from the International Gateway at Epcot. It is very informal and usually lasts no more than an hour.

Good morning everyone! Have a great Friday!

Does anyone have special plans for the weekend? Nothing too much on my end. Originally my sister and I were planning on heading to Boston today with her kids, but they are having issues with their hot water heater this morning so we decided to cancel our plans.

Good Friday Morning.

Welcome to Carrie and family. This is our 2nd Member Cruise and we are so excited. We loved the first one we were on in 2007 and just can't wait for this one.

Mike - your magnet is great! I can't wait to see everyone's doors. I have several ready to go.

Good Morning Everyone

Have a great weekend!

As I told my DW, I still have 7 more weeks to start packing...:lmao:
I am jealous of everyone that can plan so far ahead and be so organized. I have always been last second and it seems to work, although it drives DW crazy. Maybe I will make some calls for transportation to the port for Friday night, nah still plenty of time. :rotfl2:

Found this on the discussion part and thought I would post in case any one needs to make one.

No-Sew FE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After several requests I have finally gotten around to writing the directions to how I did it. What I did is very similar to the directions on earlier posts so those provided great guidance.

Supplies:

2 yards of fabric (two colors – one yard each)
Double fold bias tape
Dowell Rod
Iron-On Patches
1 Package of Iron-On Interfacing
1 Package of Heat-n-Bond No Sew Ultra Hold 7/8 in. hem
1 Package of Heat-n-Bond No Sew 1 Yard
Various Colors of Ribbon

1. Cut fabric to be used as the body of the FE to be 8 in. wide by 58 in. in length. When folded the FE will be 29 in. in length.
2. Cut fabric for the three pockets, cut each pocket 11 in. wide by 12 in. in length. When folded each pocked will be 6 in. in length.
3. On the inside of the FE body piece and each pocket iron on the interfacing. Once cooled completely I ironed on the sheet of Heat-n-Bond cut 8 in. by 29 in. to the inside of the body of the FE.
4. On each of the 3 folded pockets I made pleats so that the pockets were 2 in.-pleat-4 in.-pleat 2 in. To secure the pleats I used the Heat-n-Bond Ultrahold hem. This was done on the cut side so that the top edge would be folded and clean.
5. Next I used the heat-n-bond hem to add 8 in. strips of the double fold bias tape to the bottom of each pocket.
6. Next I lined up the pockets on the body of the FE starting 8 in. from the top and then about 1 in. apart. I market the spots with a pencil and secured the bottom and sides of the pockets using the heat-n-bond hem.
7. Once all cooled. I used the double fold bias tape for the perimeter of the body of the FE which again was secured using the iron on hem.
8. Once cooled I ironed on the patches to each of the pockets.
9. I then folded down the top of the FE about 2 inches and secured to the back of the FE by the iron-on hem creating a little opening to insert the dowel rod.
10. Using the multicolored ribbon I made it long enough so that the FE would hang approximately 7-8 in. from a hanger.
11. For our names I bough iron-on computer paper and printed the names on the computer. Then I cut and surrounded the paper with double fold bias tape attached using the iron-on hem. Finally I ironed on the name piece.

I think that’s all. I’ve never tried to write directions for anything like this before. Everything I used I bought from either Wal-Mart, Michaels, or Joann’s Fabrics.

Here is the link to it has a pic.

We are staying for 2 night before at the boardwalk. Afer cruise we are going to the airport then home.

Are you flying in our of O'hare or driving?

If any one is flying check out the new luggage fees. If you check your luggage in on line it is cheaper then if you wait till you ge to the air port.

We leave on the 10th to drive down from Chicago. Should get to WDW mid-day on the 11th. We have 2 nights at BWV (our home) in a studio, then the cruise, then 2 more nights at BWV (this time in a one bedroom so I can use the washer/dryer) before driving back home.

We ARE FLYING OUT OF MIDWAY. WE LIVE IN JOLIET AREA SO MIDWAY IS BETTER FOR US. IT IS LIKE A HALF HOUR FROM US

DW and I are driving down to Florida on the 11th, driving overnight and staying at BCV the night of the 12th, we are then doing the cruise and staying the 17th and 18th in a 1 bedroom at AKV (Kidani right now, but I am waitlisted to change to Jambo).

Is there going to be a get together at BCV like there was last year. I also remember something about a get together inside EPCOT last year as well? If anyone knows for sure please let me know. :cool1:

Thanks

Yes we are doing a DIS meet at the Beach Club the day before the cruise just like the past couple of years. Full details including a map on the web page (link can be found in the first post on this thread).

I know after last years meet some went over to Epcot to hang out and view Illuminations. Not sure if anyone talked about that this year.

I remember that tornado. I was 19. That was a bad one. I also remember the Oak Lawn one. Glad he lived through the tornado.

OMG, tornadoes scare the daylights out of me! You don't think of Virginia as being a tornado state, but we had one touch down about a mile away from where we live last year. Scary!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Well, another week of day camp down (three down, three to go) and all is well so far. We had a couple of rainy days this week, but not bad overall. Next week, however, doesn't look great, the heat and humidity are supposed to go up and the number of campers goes way up - doesn't sound like a good recipe there, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.

DS is really excited. He got an invitation from his karate instructor for his Black Belt test - she believes he is ready! That will take place on Aug. 9th and it is an all-day event. There is quite a bit of work that has gone into this and he is just beaming from ear to ear that he can finally test and hopefully earn his Black Belt. Wish him luck!

We were going to go down to Maryland for the weekend, but Saturday looks very hot and humid and Sunday it's supposed to rain and storm. So we're thinking about just staying home and trying to catch up on stuff around the house. We get home so late from camp and my house now looks like junk heap! Everything is everywhere!! :rotfl2:

I need a vacation - oops - that's right - we're cruising! Please, can it be Sept. 13th tomorrow!!:thumbsup2
