Today is going to be a crazy day - DH is usually off on Wed AM but his counterpart is on vacation so he has to work all day - I work all day and then DD3 has her preschool orientation tonight and I have to be there (I'm president of the parent/teacher group) so I have to run home feed them, get everything ready for tonight, THEN they have appts for back to school hair cuts - not looking forward to today!!!!

Good luck with your busy day today! You reminded me...I still have to get my kids' haircuts before school starts next Tuesday!

GOOD MORNING, LOOKS LIKE RAIN HERE, FINALLY!!!EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT SCHOOL. YOUR SCHOOLS START EARLIER THAN OURS RIGHT. OURS DONT START UNTIL AFTER LABOUR DAY.

Hi Ian! Yes, our schools start early! Some of the schools around me have already started, others start today, and then my kids start next Tuesday. I think Indiana passed a law that next year school cannot start before Labor Day. But then I wonder how late into the month of June they'll keep them!

And I know school starts to early now a days around here. When I was in school it started after Labor Day and got our before Memorial Day. Now we start before Labor Day and out after Memorial Day. What's up with that? I know our teachers get a lot more inservice days and stuff than they did when I was in school. Our kids get early one day a month and they usually have atleast one day off of school a month. Crazy.

When I was a kid we started the Thursday before labor day. Had half a day that day, a full day on Friday and then off on Monday! How stupid!! Now, Indiana has eliminated the half days, so there are no more parent/teacher conferences unless the parent or the teacher requests one. The kids nor the teachers get a break where that's concerned! They get a four day weekend in October, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas break, then SPring break, then Good Friday, then Summer break. No in service days or half days anymore. If they take a day off due to weather, they make it up at the end of the year. THey used to have built in snow days into the school year but no more.
