I believe Lademmann with be at the port before me and she will also have leis. I will be wearing my so if anyone see me in port and wants theirs I will be happy to part with them. Lois

COZUMEL, Mexico (Aug. 21, 2007) – The island of Cozumel experienced only tropical storm winds, as Hurricane Dean moved through Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula early Tuesday morning on August 21.

Cozumel is in excellent shape and the island’s tourism infrastructure is completely intact.

According to Raul Marrufo, Director of the Cozumel Tourism Promotion Board, “Cozumel was well prepared for Dean, but fortunately the hurricane did not pass through the island,” explained Marrufo. “Cozumel is back to normal and everything on the island is set to resume operations on Wednesday including local schools, hotels, restaurants and more.”

“Some of the hotels, restaurants and shops took today to clean up and remove light debris scattered by the tropical winds,” adds Marrufo. “All of the resort properties and local businesses will be open and prepared to welcome guests back to the island by tomorrow.”

Current updates from the island as of 5:00 p.m. Central Time:

The Cozumel International airport reopened immediately after the storm at 12:00 p.m. today (Aug. 21) and received its first flight, a Continental Airlines flight that arrived from Houston.
Passenger ferry services between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen will resume operation tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at 6:00 a.m. CDT. The vehicle and cargo ferry will begin service tomorrow as well at 12:00 p.m.
All of Cozumel’s piers, including the Punta Langosta Pier and International Pier for cruise ships, are fine and fully operational.
Cruise ships will begin returning to Cozumel on Thursday, Aug. 23. The island will be welcoming two Carnival Cruise Line ships scheduled to arrive that first day and three ships (including Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines) on Friday, Aug. 24.
The majority of Cozumel hotels and resorts were up and running today and the remaining properties will be open and ready to receive guests by tomorrow (Aug. 22).
Restaurants and shops throughout the island, including downtown San Miguel, have started to reopen today and all are expected to resume business by tomorrow (Aug. 22).
Cozumel beach clubs are scheduled to reopen on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007.
The Cozumel Country Club Golf Course incurred no damage and will reopen tomorrow (Aug. 22).
The Museum of the Island of Cozumel reopened today.
Chankanaab Park and the archaeological sites at San Gervasio will reopen tomorrow (Aug. 22).
All island tours are currently up and running.
The Atlantis Submarine ride will begin operating again on Friday, August 24, 2007.
Individuals who have existing travel plans to Cozumel during this time are always encouraged to check with travel agents, hotels and airlines for additional updates.

So glad to know that Cozumel was not damaged much and the people are safe.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Hopefully most everyone will come up to the Mickey Pool drink station side for that first meet at 3 PM on 9/8. We will have to go about 345 to get ready for the drill. Rememner Ladyemmaann and I have the leis. The are 1 dollar. Another reason to bring some cash. Yet another reason is if you ordered braclets, Baracuda will have them. I believe they we 1.50 each.

So far the computer is holding out. I am keeping my fingers crossed that that it last lets say another 3 or 4 years so I can continue to cruise.

YES.... I will have some of the leis at the hotel for those meeting before the
Dis bus. Then at Port C. before we sail. Watch for me at those places and then near the pool.

We got are cruise documents (and room assignment) today.... we are in a cat 5 on deck 7 near the aft of the ship.

My hubby said a disney person called today and told him that all the parasailing was cancelled for Castaway :0( I was so sad, that was the first excursion that I had booked! :0(

Other than that we are doing the Atlantis Submarine in Grand Cayman, the Tulum Ruins in Cozumel (most likely), renting scooters at sightseeing on our own in Key West and relaxing on the beach in Castaway. Still checking everyday to see if a spot for Palo opens up, guess we were a little slow on that point. This is our first cruise and I didn't know that all the reservations would go so entirely fast.

I am still trying to figure out what to say to my boss to get the time off to go on the cruise...probably should break the news to her tomorrow. Hopefully I won't get "let-go". Wish me luck!

We booked a verandah cabin (Cat 6) and received one. Was hoping for a plexi wall but I guess this one will give us a little more privacy.

We are on deck 7 aft, we booked at cat 7 navigators verandah, and thats what we got. We are happy with the 7. DH doesn't go on the verandah but I need to have fresh air once in a while so a cat 7 is ok with me.

!st, i will try on here to cretae a new topic and then link to it. I'll work on that tonight or first thing tomorrow, besides, I hate that you can put comments on the myspace group pics too.

2nd, i own a tux from the Knights of Columbus organization that I belong to, and i am looking to get my 2 year old son a tux on ebay. i think my brother is planning on just a suit, and if i didn't own a tux, i would be doing the same thing. no way i would rent a tux for a boat trip,!!!
