It's probably the Pre-K giving her grief. They have to staff so many teachers to keep the right teacher-child ratios. When parents take children out, they expect to not have to pay, but what is the center supposed to do with those teachers? It's a tough thing, but most day care's only allow so many absences, changes to the schedule, and then you have to start paying for those changes.

I see. It's been a long time since I had kids in daycare, but I just paid the same as if they were there and kept them out when our family was able to spend time together.

:confused3 This is proof that I will take pictures of anything. :confused3

We take picutures of anything too. Especially Hidden Mickeys. The ladies in the rest room outside of Cirque du Soleil thought I was wierd taking picures of the floor (Hidden Mickey). Of course I had to move the carpet out of the pictures, then I sent my husband into the men's to find one in there.

Yep, me too. I just keep paying to keep her slot, and take DD out whenever I want. They are only young once!

I pay my cleaners when I'm on vacation too. I figure no reason to mess up their budget, just because I'm going on vacation.

You sent your DH into the bathroom with a camera to "take pictures?" Oh he is so lucky he came out of that one alive! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Yes, just the Hidden Mickey on the floor.
When my kids were young, I always worried when then went into public bathrooms. Now after all the recent news, I have to worry about my husband going into public bathrooms. Who would have thunk it????:confused3

Hehe...Way back when, I used to play Unreal Tournament with friends over a LAN all the time and it was a blast. To me, XBOX Live has reminded me a lot of that atmosphere and is a better fit since our 9 year old computer really can't run any cool games. :lmao:

Oh my, you need to get a new Dell Duuuude :)

I just don't like the controllers, I'm a die hard keyboard and mouser (in a couple of ways, I guess). :)

Yes, that's the way the Pre-K wants it. But when a parent is paying over $100 a week (we're paying 174 a week for our 18 month old), we don't want to have to pay for the two weeks he's going to miss ;)

A day or two isn't so bad...

Yeah, but look at it this way. You've already budgeted for the expense, so you're really not paying anything extra.

Maybe I just look at it differently, since I'm in the military. There've been times when I've been paying childcare in two places for weeks at a time while I've been on temporary duty. Now THAT stinks!

I don't get it.. They make you PAY for daycare even when your child isn't in the class?? :confused3 DS was never in daycare so I had no clue they did this. :sad2:

We have taken our son out of school for about a week every school year since he was young.. He is a strong student and never had a problem with make up work..

Well, my dehydration is getting better and I have more energy, my sunburn doesn't hurt nearly as much as it did, however, this cold is kicking my butt..

Taking pictures of Hidden Mickey's on the bathroom floor... You know you are obsessed when.... :rolleyes1

Still No High Tea for me and DH :sad1: I'm starting to give up hope..

I'm still planning on getting to the ship ASAP and go directly to the Spa to schedule a Hair-Do appointment for Formal night :cloud9:

Congrats on another pirate: I'm still going for NO pirate: and I'm doing a GREAT job too :upsidedow

At four, DD is in a state funded Pre-K program that mimics what they will be doing and need to know in K. In fact, certain things not being known during K testing puts kids in "special ed" which I think is ridiculous and all about funding, but I digress.

Basically we pay $70 a month for five days a week at a private school. The state funds all the rest. There were only 20 slots for her class and I was out all night in the snow back on February 1st to get one of those slots.

They are only allowed to miss 10 days a year or they face losing their funding and as such she could lose her spot. WDW and the cruise will take 7-8 days depending on when we leave. Heck we booked DCL before we were even in this state so there is no way we were going to give that up.

And back to brunch, nothing available at all. On dinner it shows available, but then only has the slot we already have taken. I will keep watching.

For now, I continue my search for diecast CARS.

Glad to hear you're doing better.

From a business standpoint I can understand why they would charge. I mean why should they hold your child's slot when there are other people who are willing to pay for it? The alternative is to disenroll your child, but you have to see if you'd have to repay any admin fees, and hope there's a slot when you get back. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but one of those times when you have to "accept what I cannot change...."

I'm sure you'll get a Tea ressie after you get onboard. Can't wait to see your hair on formal night. :cutie:

I understand that. Daycare was, of course, way cheaper "back then", but it is all relative. $50 for daycare, but rent was $200 and salaries were way less also.

Is it a Head Start program? My wife is a teacher for Head Start. It's a federal Pre-K program. She's getting a lot of grief for her vacation request, because it's just before the Christmas vacation.

The school situation with you is making more sense. Wow. 10 days a year is only 2 weeks of vacation total. I would not like that. Are there school breaks when you can work in a few more family days?

::yes:: I agree, it does make more sense now that I really think about it..

DS is in a VOCTS program and if he misses 10 days he can be removed from the program as well...

But.. I don't get why you still have to pay full price if your child isn't attending.. There should be a discount or something at least..

Best Wishes with the whole School issues.. :wizard:

Because the daycare can't call it's teachers in the morning and tell them not to come in today because there's 6 kids who didn't show today. They still have to pay the teachers. That's why many only allow a limited number of schedule changes per year. Our's allows two free changes, if you give enough notice, and two weeks of vacation / sick time that is earned 1 week at a time twice in a year.

There are school breaks just not when we are going. It made it hard on kids in this district with a kid in this school and in the public school since DD's school did not have a fall break while the public did. They did however start a week later than the public school and will finish a week earlier as there is no winter break either. (There is a break for a week around T-giving, Christmas, and in the Spring).

Because of this school though, we are trying not to make waves as there is a 50 person waiting list and we do not want to lose our place. If were paying for it directly, it would be close to $1000 a month. So we kind of go along to get along on our $70 which covers food for a month. KWIM???

Next year is even going to be tougher as we are on a 15 day Hawaiian cruise in October AFTER the fall break but before the T-giving break. She will miss 10 full days of K.

After that trip we decided that December is the BEST time to vacation at Disney: 1) It's cooler temperature 2) Early December is Value Season 3)Less people in early December and 4) It's decorated up for Christmas!!! :santa: The main thing we learned is, just because it's Florida does NOT mean it doesn't get cold!!! We went with minimal warm-wear and because of it Pooh_Girl got a cold and almost ruined our honeymoon!! :rolleyes1
We were not prepared for the cooler evenings at WDW last year (the week of Thanksgiving). It was chilly!

Bill has just informed me that we will be receiving some information on DVC in the mail. All this talk has peaked his interest.
