LOL, I know what you mean. I make an Italian one, and it has 1 pound of ricotta, 1 pound of cream cheese, 1 pound of sour cream, 1/4 pound of butter and lots of sugar plus a few other things!! But it's soooo yummy! I had a small piece last nite, and a slice today.

One of the rotational dinners, I think it is Parrot Cay has creme brulee cheesecake. It is really good  .
Creme brulee cheesecake is reason enough to cruise!

LOL, I get that all the time though I'm from a different "accent family" entirely. I have to bite my tongue not to call you ALL "Yanks" as I know a lot of the country doesn't identify with that!!

It seems like we are going to have lots of accents with Dis'ers. We will have deep southern drawls, NY/NJ, and plenty of others!!

Ah...it wasn't the 40 secs it was the lag!

Congrats Merryl! Thanks for coming out to play. :chat: And now I promised ds he could have his "turn" after we chased the pirate. Plus I just let dh's call go to voicemail...:rolleyes1

See you later!

Thanks Joanne! Catch ya later!

Aww, Beth, you could've played too! You're not a pirate (will the Dis let me use that word? I won't try...) anymore!

Anyway, hi, bye...ds is hovering!

Hey Beth!! How did you like our weather yesterday!! Strange huh!!

Yesterday's weather was just weird! In fact, the whole week has been strange. It was freezing here last night, but now it's beautiful, and it's supposed to get really cold again tonight. It's no wonder I have an awful cold!

I have a lot of trouble with my internet connection here at home. Apparently our wireless router operates on the same frequency as the signals that New Jersey Transit uses to raise and lower the safety gates at crossings, so when there's a train in the area (twice an hour, but fifteen minutes apart) it's very hard to maintain a connection. I was in there thinking I could get another pirate, and the train came through and *poof!!* I was unable to connect again until the train cleared the area. My DGD is using the hard-wired computer for her Barbie game, so I don't stand a chance of using that one!

I'll be around for a while now, no trains due for another hour. My DDIL is down in the basement hunting for Christmas decorations, so I think maybe we're going to be decorating tonight! The tree will wait until we get back, though, because the cats would spend the entire time chasing each other around in it!

Don't forget our Chicago accents.
We are the home of "Da Bearsh" and "Cheeseborger, cheeseborger. No Coke, Pepsi"*. Thanks, SNL!

Ok, here's my big "holiday shopping" beef...the FLYERS!! OMG I have a blue bag every week just of flyers! And I get duplicates. There are two free community weeklies that exist to wrap flyers, and I get the same ones in my daily subscription. So, some flyers (like Sears, Walmart, thick ones) I get THREE times!

I have called one of the weeklies twice now to say "STOP!" And the other one I called this week. But those carriers just automatically deliver to everyone, and it's a hassle for them to leave someone OFF the list I guess. And I have a sneaking suspicion there's another drop off that's not covered by those...I have to keep an eye out.

Plus, we're going to be away for 2+ weeks and a big pile of flyers at the end of the drive kind of gives it away, you know? We still don't know any of our neighbours well enough to ask them to clean it up for us. (Big lots, long driveways...it's a hassle for me to pick up my own, let alone someone else's.)

OTOH, I asked the postoffice to hold my mail starting Dec 3 and my mailbox is already surprisingly...empty. :sad2: Maybe I don't need to see any more bills before I go :rolleyes1 but, um, I probably should... Is the USPS as bad at getting things right as Canada Post? I am an experienced bureaucrat, and I hate to slam another gov't group gratuitously, but man, they earn all their bad press...

Anyway, any pirate: hunters yet??

Sorry about your trouble with the mail. :sad2: We are always having problems with our mail. The letter carrier always puts the mail in the neighbors box. I wonder what he is thinking when he drives past our box every day and has nothing for my box?:confused3

My DH's niece bake him a cake for Christmas 2 years ago and sent it in the mail. It arrived 3 weeks later. Had to trash it. She was told it would only take 2 or 3 days. :confused3

I went to the pharmacy yesterday and was told Gravol is the only option for kids for motion sickness. NOT worth it IMO given it seems motion sickness is not that common, and I don't want my kids that groggy for a "just in case". Is there something available in the US that works better? (You guys have waaaaay more choices on pretty much every consumer good than we do...your frozen food section always boggles my mind...) We'll have a day to shop for supplies before we board. I did buy the kids' chewable gravol as a backup, but I'm only planning on using it if absolutely necessary.

You will know where I'm from, when you hear me talk. Alot of people where we live here say, "you're not from here, are ya?" I have live in so many places and picked up different accents and phrases that I don't even talk like my family. :rotfl:

I'm looking forward to it! I'm glad I've had a chance to get to know each of you a bit so I can make connections...that's what NJ sounds like, TN, AK, places I haven't visited! :)

We went to Best Buy after lunch. It was not as bad as I expected.

I was looking at a small Canon camera for DW but came away with a Fugi digital camera instead. It is 12megapixel  That is more than my Canon XTi and it is only about the size of my palm. :confused3 I hope it helps her take more pictures.

Now I need to sell the old Canon Digital Rebel to make up for it :confused3

My local pharmacist said Bonine is good.

Well, I don't have a NJ accent. I am actually from Brooklyn, NY, where I grew up. But I got rid of that accent years ago. Certain words do still come out like that if I am tired or angry :).
