Brack: I hope Annette gets home safely through all that DC traffic. I use to live in No. VA. So, I understand the craziness of the DC traffic. :headache: I worked in Arlington, VA.

She's home :thumbsup2

Wow... I had never heard of that man before and now that's the second time in 24 hours that someone has said his name to me. How weird.
Many of the recipes that DDIL is using for our Thanksgiving dinner are his. His show is great--it's fun, the food is good, and you learn WHY things happen they way they happen when you cook. Even my DGD has learned to cook some things from watching his show.

So does that mean that cheesecake is kind of a "steamed" food? "Steamed" means it's healthy, right? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Absolutely. Plus, it's dairy, and dairy means protein, and that's good, too. So go ahead and eat all the cheesecake you want, OK?:lmao: Don't I wish!

And, by the way, we had pizza tonight too. This night is the second busiest night of the year for pizza delivery. The busiest is Super Bowl Sunday!

Good Evening!

This cooking thing is for the birds. I have never made Thanksgiving before and WOW is it a lot of WORK.

I think I am doing okay. I did drop the Turkey though.:rotfl2:

Going to try to catch up.

Yup, it is. This made me remember the first Thanksgiving and Turkey I cooked. It was 1982, I was living in Kingston NY, and I must have called my mom 1000 times to ask questions. I had never cleaned a turkey or chikcen before!! She told me to put my hand inside the bird to take out the bag...I was like, I am not sticking my hand inside that bird!! I used some long untensil to do it!! :rotfl:

It came out good though!!

I am sure your dinner is gonna be fine! Good luck!

Still haven't caught up but I wanted to share that we have rain! Real, hard rain. So loud I can't hear the TV. Wow, we just got thunder!:cheer2:
I do live in N GA and I really can't remember the last time we had a real rain. I think it is supposed to rain the better part of tomorrow as well.

The town we live in is so low that they are considering rationing the water about the time we get back from the cruise. They would really shut it off for certain hours of the day.

I sure know what I will be thankful for tomorrow!

DD(18) saw me remove "the bag" and then would not go to bed until I threw it our and sanitized the whole kitchen. She even mopped. Apparently she saw a sign about food poison and chitterlings (sp) and thought since "the bag" was inside the bird it must be chitterlings.

Another good bag story. About five years ago my DSIL decided to cook the turkey at her house. We all show up for lunch, she pulls the bird out of the oven and it is still in the plastic bag it was wrapped in. She thought it was a cooking bag. Needless to say her DH does all the cooking now.:rotfl2:

I'm glad to hear that it's raining! I keep seeing on the news how bad it is. I hope the drought breaks soon for you!

Good luck with the turkey. The first Thanksgiving dinner is always the hardest. After 20 or 30 of them, it's still a lot of work;).

OK, good night, all. I'm going to head for bed and see if rest will cure this cold! I'll be back in the morning!

Beth

Even though father outlaw is smoking outside it is all over his clothes, so the house stinks. We are getting along surprisingly even though it is just me and him today as DH and mother outlaw are shopping.

I can smell when people are smoking in their car when we are sitting still at traffic lights. I'm not sure if it's a gift or a curse. I also caught my employees smoking and went psycho. They no longer smoke in the shop.

Good night, I hope you are 100% better in the morning.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

And a happy thanksgiving to everyone. DH went out to pick up the morning paper and I have been going through the sales ads planning my modus operandi of attack tomorrow morning. I have made a breakfast pizza, trimmed the fat off the brisket, and DH just finished making Texas Trash which is our version of the Chex Party Mix. He says it is just perfect for football.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

I had to grab a computer moment when I could--one computer is playing Christmas music, one is displaying recipes in the kitchen, and my laptop is upstairs charging.

I'm feeling somewhat better today, and should be back to normal by tomorrow. "The Kids" are cooking dinner, so I can relax all day. We'll do the cleanup later, but I've been sneaking into the kitchen washing things as they get used, so it won't be too bad. My DDIL is a good cook, but she doesn't believe in "clean as you go", and she somehow manages to use every pot, pan and utensil that we have no matter what she's cooking!:confused3

Enjoy your day, everyone. I'll be back later when all the festivities are over!

Beth

Mom wants us over at 2 and eat at 3.. so I will be going through the Ads to see if I'm going shopping with the rest of the Crazies.. :rolleyes1

I hope everyone has a Great, Fun-Filled, Family Thanksgiving :thumbsup2
Back tonight..

Happy Thanksgiivng everyone!! My cheesecake came out great last nite!! :thumbsup2

My corn muffins are done, and the stuffing is in the oven.

So, now time for a break!! And we leave in about 45 minutes...fun times!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone :)

I went with my plan of going to the store late last night for the banana pudding ingredients. I walked in at 9:58pm. Not only was it still incrediably busy but there was also not one, but two local television news crews there to catch the madness.

When I walked in, all the lines were backed up into the aisles including the self-serve checkouts. But apparently everyone else's plan was to go at 9:30pm while mine was to go at 10pm, because in just the 15 minutes it took me to grab the stuff I needed, the lines had cleared out considerably and I only had to wait for 2 people to finish at the self-serve before I could check out! :woohoo:

Off to make banana pudding!

And, for our Canadian friends.... Happy Thursday! :confused3 :rolleyes1
