08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

Hi Everyone-
Hope all is well with everyone!
NYC was great! We are planning to take a girl's trip once a year. There was so much that we didn't get to see. Now I have my wedding to look forward to. TEN DAYS!!! :) We are just doing last minute stuff for that. I still need to do bridesmaids and parents gifts! I'm running out of time. But I'm remaining calm! :)
:cool1:

Hello everyone. I've been very busy lately with stuff and haven't had much time.

Arica ... you're now married!! You'll have to post some pictures for us when you get back on line.

How is everyone? Any exciting news? One year to go!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'M MARRIED AND I LOVE IT!
We had the most beautiful everything. :) I'm so fortunate! I will send pictures as soon as they are available. We leave on our honeymoon on Wednesday, so when we get back three weeks later, we should have pictures!

*Arica*

Congrats Arica!! Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Where are you going for your honeymoon?

:cheer2: Congrats Arica! I'm sure you are well into your honeymoon having a blast.

I am soooooo close to this years vacation I cannot wait  18 more days and its off to Tahiti for my wife and I 1 year wedding anniversary.

Hope everyone else is doing great, and less than a year now YES! My wife found some books online at Amazon.com cheap about all the ports we are going to be stopping at. She also, got another book about personal walking tours around the area's we are stopping at as well. So we have started the research, well my wife has. I am waiting for what kind of excursions are going to become available through disney so we have an idea of what to look for in each port.

We have decided like a lot of other folks on this board to book a flight a day early so we can recover from jet lag and possibly see some of Barcelona.

Hope everyone is well and eager! Anyone else taking trips this summer or already have?

Hey, just checking in no-one has said anything in a while so I thought I would update you. I called Disney and made resevations at Barcelona Hotel Atenea Mar for 3 days prior so we can explore in Barcellona and get over jet lag. I am excited it is right across the street from the beach. While I was on the phone I asked when Disney planned on announcing the shore excursions and the reservation man "Clint" said that they were hoping to do that by the 1st of the year. Who else is coming in early? 345 days until we leave:eeyore:

We are planning on arriving 1 day before in case of missed flights plus jet lag. Maybe even 2 days, but that all depends on the funds at the time we book. May I ask how much it cost you for one night at the hotel you are staying at? I am curious on pricing. I only have 7 days to go before my big trip this year. I am very excited.

As always, hope all is well.

James,
I don't have a nightly Rate. We booked though Disney ( Still checking to see if I can get it cheaper) but for the 3 nights it was $810.00. Roughly 270 a night but we would be staying a Sunday night which is technically a weekend that day might be higher than the week days. We choose a hotel though Disney b/c with the ground transfers we purchased, Disney will pick up at at the airport and the hotel, it is right across from the beach. Check out Hotels.com there are a couple trip reports and pictures (This hotel happened to be the cheapest for 3 days at the time I called with Disney for the hotels that they are offering). There is also a concierge desk that will help with sightseeing which we liked. The Hotels that you can book through disney are Hotel Atenea Mar ( The one we are staying at), Hilton Diagonal Mar, Hesperia Presidente, Grand Marina Hotel, and the AC Barcenlona. Hope this helps you!!!!

That does help, thanks. I will bring it up to the wife in the next couple days.

By the way, Arica, if you are back soon, my wife and I just got back from the American Idol Concert tonight. It was well worth the money, AWESOME, doesn't even describe it. We were on the floor level and in a walkway area. Taylor was within feet from us. My wife really enjoyed Chris. It was the best concert I have been to. Again well worth it. Especially since the american idols 6 months ago were people just like us.

Anyway, again thanks for the tips.

Checking back in as I haven't posted since Page 2, lol! At that time we weren't sure about the 10nt, but now it is for sure for us so let the planning begin!

I have read through the entire thread and will be keeping up with it regularly now.

Giggles thanx for the hotel info - I appreciate you sharing the info you got. :thumbsup2

A gentle bump off of Page FOUR!!! :confused3

Airfares for our Med Cruise are now opening up - has anyone found anything good yet?

I booked my flights through DCL ... I'm doing the repo after this one as well ... for the two of us it was $1900 ... flights are from Toronto to Barcelona and then from Orlando back to Toronto.

We are doing the B2Bs also. I just booked Lot Polish Airlines ORD-WAW-BCN 8/6 Business Class $825 each for four people - deal was too good to pass up! :thumbsup2

Hello everyone!

Hello Nancy! Nice to see a familiar name in our group!

I'm starting to look at airfare prices! Not finding much that I like so far. The best prices are with Iberia but I don't like some of the reviews I've read. Would like to leave from the Washington, DC area but it looks like traveling to Philly or NY might be a better option (better prices). I don't know. I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed!

I've been reading about Barcelona. Seems like there is a good deal of crime. One travel book I bought says that crime can be a problem in the low and high end hotels. They suggested brining a padlock to secure your luggage in your room! I'm not sure that's the kind of environment I want to subject my kids to! And the info about pickpockets - scarey! I can just see that really starting off our trip badly. Maybe I'm being paranoid! I don't know!

Anyone find out any information about possible excursions? I was thinking about looking at other cruise lines for their excursion info but I haven't done that yet. I wonder how much those are going to cost us?

Hope everyone is having a good start to their week!

Well, I'm back from our Tahiti vacation and 1 year wed anniversary. Very nice and relaxing and now it's back to work :furious:

But also, time to start planning the DCL I have been waiting for.

My wife had checked out airfare already but we are going to wait. There is always last minute deals. Last time we went to Europe we flew round trip for $800 for 2!

We are also waiting for are flight miles to get processed from our last trip, which will bump us up to business class.

About the crime in the area, there is crime everywhere you go. Just take precautions always. I have heard in Italy there has been problems with pickpockets as well. So carry you valuables close to your heart. Don't carry a purse when doing excursions if at all possible.

That's just some common tips.
Anyway off to work I go.

There had been some talk earlier in this thread of coming up with a catchy name for our cruise. These two came to mind:

"Cannes You Dig It?" 8/8 10nt Med cruise

"Olbia a Monkey's Uncle - We're Cruisin' the Med!"

Anyone else have any ideas?

You are too funny, Nancy . . . at least with the "Olbia a Monkey's Uncle" one I might be able to remember the name of the port in Sardinia -- every time I go online to research things, I can't remember the name of that port and have to go on the Disney Cruise Line site to find it again!
