06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

Carole88, Dis meet by the pool at the Radisson, what time do you think? We plan on renting a car at the airport and spending some time on Coco beach that day. I also wanted to thank you for suggesting your DD to e-mail my DD. My DD seems to be a little more excited about the cruise now that she will know someone ahead of time. Anyone else that has a DD around 8, if interested, please PM me. The more friends, the merrier.

Musicgirl, I have had to go to the 2nd page to find us a few times. I just cannot believe how many posts the 5/27/06 thread has! I will try my best to help get us to 100 pages.

Does everyone have their pirate gear all ready to go? I finally bought mine last weekend. Now it's time to get my DH's! He'll enjoy that soooo much!!!

Has anyone on this thread ever been upgraded by DCL? How do they go about choosing who gets up graded?

I am probably the minority here, but I do not want an upgrade. We have a cabin that is exactly midship and directly above the stabilizers. We had this cabin on the 7/4/04 Wonder and loved it so we specifically asked for the same cabin on the Magic. I hope this means they won't upgrade. As for pirate costumes, DD has hers and I have ordered something, but it hasn't come yet. We are thinking of wearing pirate clothes to dinner that night. Anyone else doing that? We are also up for a DIS meet at the Radisson pool on 6/23. Just let us know what time!

I don't know if I would want an upgrade. We've been in the same room for the last 3 cruises. Now if I were to get upgraded to the Disney suite, hey the party is in my room!!! Do you think there's a chance????

I don't know about particular sun screen for hair braiding, but does anyone use the spray on type??? Would that be easier than trying to put it on row by row with your fingers?

Maybe I could make a million by designing a special sunblock with a special design for hairbraids???? They could sell it where you get it done. Now, don't steal my idea!! I'll be watching for that bright green can of sunblock!!!

BB-how do you have 25 days left??? No fair!!! We have 31 Well, I guess I shouldn't be too sad afterall, I will have the whole summer off!!

My wife uses the spray on suntan lotion in her hair line. I think she uses the pump not a spray but not sure of brand.

I KNOW my husband and teen son will NOT dress for pirate night if I suggest it. I still have to find something for Brandon and might look for something for myself too. Where did you get yours?

We'll be at the Radisson out by the pool if the weather is nice. I think we arrive at the airport around 1 and have Happy Limo--a van-- picking the 8 of us up.

Is anyone wearing long pants on the David and Ivan tour? I refuse. I read about someone backing a snack--sounds like a good idea.

I read on another thread that Disney has planned a prescreening of Pirates II movie in Disneyland on June 24...I couldn't verify that anywhere, but wouldn't it be great if they also did it on our cruise!

I would like to have an upgrade because we have a Cat 9 but would really like a Cat 6 but don't want to spend the extra $$.

Musicgirl, that would be great if you were upgraded to the Disney suite! I would love to see the inside of the room without having to watch the Travel Channel.

BethA, I just went to Burlington Coat Factory in Greensburg and put a couple things together from the sales racks. I also bought my big gold hoop earrings!

It would be great if they did the Pirates II prescreening on the the cruise! That would really kick the party up another notch!

RCBA, Honestly when we booked our first cruise, we thought it would be the only time we would cruise and it was my favorite vacation ever! Now that's all I want to do! We do hope that you and your family decide to join us.

You find out your dining assignment when you board. If you have a specific request, call DCL now and get it on your reservation. I think they try to handle specific requests for times/dining room rotations if they can.

RCBA-TAKE THE PLUNGE AND JOIN US!!!! What's stopping you? We promise we don't bite! Well, that is unless you get to close to our food!!!

Unfortunately, the majority of people only have control over picking main or late seating. I know the consigner (boy do I know I spelled that wrong, I've been working!) and those who have REAS can pick their rotation.

Last time, my tablemate got the Reas so they picked and since we were linked we of course got what we wanted!! So Jill, how about doing the REAS!!!

I know you can request your rotation or and maybe even the time for the staggered dining times, but I think that's about it.

For those of you looking for pirate stuff, if you have a Micheal's near you, they have some cool hats and swords. They are made out of foam-like my beautiful green glasses from the magnet examples.

Musicgirl- We started 8-15. Did ya'll start later? Also, we don't get a week off in February. I am so happy to only having 25 days left of school, but DD is more so! If you invent a hairbraiding sunblock before we go, let me know If not I think we will try an alcohol based pump spray.
It would be awsome to see Pirates II onboard the Magic. How about on the new giant screen by the pool?
Beth A- I, too, refuse to wear long pants on the ruins tour. I will just make sure to take good bug spray and spray down when we get to the site! I would never make it in the heat with long pants

We have always been on deck 6 midship and loved our stateroom with verandah. Last Cruise (May 2004) we were called (4-6 weeks before the cruise) and asked if we would like to upgrade to a cat 4 (Deck 8 Aft), we were leary about the change, but decided if it is called an "upgrade" it would be a better room. We decided to take the upgrade and were very dissapointed! The room was a little larger, but the room and hall were always hot since we were so close to the stairs that led to the outside on deck 9. We also didn't like being so far back in the ship, we felt a lot more vibration. Our recommedation is to consider the differences in the staterooms. If you are getting upgraded to a room with a verandah instead of an inside stateroom and its something you'd like to try, Take It! But if you're partial to the room you know you enjoy, don't change.

How was everyone's weekend?! My son Pat, just got home from Italy today! He had a fantastic time, but went to bed tonight at 6:30 with tons of jet lag. Now he gets to look forward to this next 2 week trip in June!

Oh Lorie, now we know you and Bill want to do the REAS..and we promise not to come and bug you...NOT !

To all that are looking for pirate's stuff, we got the greatest looking Mickey and Goofy pirates hats from the Pirates ride at DW . Oh, wait a minute, I think its being refurbed, darn. We'll bring em anyway. And I have a cool lookin hat to wear too.

To CarolM..I noticed you're doing Palo on CM night, we are too! What time is your ressie? Ours is 6:30 pm.

Wow, I swear each week I am going to keep up with this list and I get so busy I never have the time. So here are my comments on previous messages:

We did hair braiding last year and the lady that was scheduling the times was sitting out by the goofy pool before we set sail. I used Water Babies spray suntan lotion on their braid lines and they never got sun burned and it wasn't greasy. You know you can wash their hair you just can't use conditioner. The braids stayed in for a long time, we finally took them out because the girls were getting tired of having them in. I will tell you that a lot of hair comes out when taking out the braids. Not because of the braids but because people loose hair all the time, with the braids in it stays in the braids and you don't see it until you take them out. After about 3 weeks it is a lot of hair. Also the braids cause the hair to break so you will notice some damage but it grows out.

I purchased Pirate outfits for my DDs and bought these skull and crossbones shirts for me and my DH. That is all I could get him to wear.

We will be at the Radisson out by the pool on the 23rd. My DH and DD all are dark skinned and dark hair and I am the blond, shouldn't be hard to miss us

I was also thinking about the Fury Catamaran tour but had read that the reefs had really been damaged by the hurricanes and felt that it might not be worth the money if the reefs were gone. They say about 60% of the reefs were damaged.

OK, I think that is it. Oh yeah, my DD's are 8 and 11 and would love to have new email friends before the cruise so send me an email if you have DD's looking for friends.

Hey everybody! We're close to 1000 posts!!!

We would love to meet anyone interested at the Radisson pool. How does 2:00 sound to everyone? My DH and 2 DD will be there! (DH is Italian and has a tribal band tattoo on one arm and a moon & stars with our names on the other arm.) If that time doesn't work we can figure out another one.

I have started to get pirate stuff too! I have actually gotten a lot of stuff from ebay. We're all dressing up and will go to dinner in costume. I'm hoping that Pirate night is Wednesday as I have made a 8:00 Palo reservation for Tuesday. If by chance Pirate night is Tuesday I'm going to have to see if I can change the reservation.

Sujo - Did your girls get email from my girls? I've lost track with who they have been emailing. Let me know if they haven't gotten any mail from them. I know my older DD is anxious to 'meet' someone before hand. Hopefully they will all meet up at the Radisson pool!

SuJo- My Husband and I did the Xcaret Eco Tour the last time we were on the Western Cruise. It was great, really hot but great. The time on the Island goes by so fast I felt rushed to see everything. We thought the Catamaran sail would be nice for the both of us to relax and cool off. Im sure you'll enjoy Xcaret.
