06/24/2006 - Special Western Cruise - Who Else!?

HI,

Dining: I think the rotation on the double dip will be different then current western, because we are in Coz on Wed and that should be pirate night, not Tuesday.
The March 25, 2006 navigators for the Western have a stop in Grand Cayman on Tuesday (vs. our stop in Costa Maya). They stopped in Cozumel on Wednesday, same as we do -- that was their Pirate Night pirate: dinner. But they also had "all aboard" at 5:30. If we do get later tenders, they might move pirate dinner to our Tuesday night because I would think they would want to be out to sea for fireworks. We were originally scheduled to stay in Cozumel until 11:00 p.m. and that wouldn't be good for Pirate Night.

I have been skimming this thread (w/ 65 pgs I can't read it all!) Just wondering if anyone on this cruise is taking a toddler. My DS will be 2 6/16 and I'm looking at booking this cruise for my family.

This is a cross post from the main board: I'm trying to find out what the heat & humidity might be like for this cruise.

We were @ WDW in June 5 yrs ago for our honeymoon & it got pretty hot and humid. DH is not sold on the idea of cruising so I reallllly want our first cruise to be near perfect to improve the chances of getting to go again.

RCBA-It doesn't look like any disers listed have a youngster the age of yours, but of course that means nothing. There will plenty of them on board.

My Dh and I were both not convinced cruising was for us. This will be our 4th cruise. There is so much to do and eat and see, especially having a 2 yr. old. If you are worried about the ports-getting around and getting back on time, I know how you feel. But now I'm planning non-DCL excursions and hooking up with people I don't even know!!!

Let us know if there are any questions we can help you with. There are a number of repeat cruisers with a vast amount of information.

RCBA-Just thought I would follow up with the weather. According to the DCL site, the average for all 3 ports is around 86-87 degrees. It doesn't mention anything about humidity.

I do know that while you are on the ship, it is very pleasant. When we were at CC in the past, I didn't really notice the humidity so it couldn't have been too bad.

I hope that helps.

Thanks MusicGirl that does help, although I do feel like a dork for not thinking of checking the DCL site for the wx

We can handle mid-high eighties even with high humidity. The port thing is what really has me interested in the double dip. My DH has never travelled outside of the US...between him and a toddler I think the less ports the better ;)

we have been away--did I miss something about wearing long pants on the D&I tour?! I hate that idea!!

RCBA-Don't worry, you'll get the hang of the boards and the DCL site soon enough.

We all love the idea of double dipping at CC.

I'm sure the thought of ports and a toddler can be very headachy :headache: (I'm not sure it that is really a word, but oh well it's the best I could do right now!) Remember, you don't have to do anything fancy.

CC is great because if you need to get back for a nap or out of the sun, it's right there and you can even go back to the beach.

CM-there are a bunch of us going to Maj. Beach which is a few min. down from the port. Some people like to go just to the port pool (fresh water, I believe that means salt!) and shop in that area.

Coz.-that might be a bit tougher. I'm not sure if your little one has ever played mini golf, but there is a cool place within walking distance.

And of course, many people enjoy staying on the ship on port days. The pool is generally empty which is a huge plus!!!

Let me know if I can help any more and don't ever worry about making a mistake. Just look at me, how dorky can you get!!!

Just bumpin' us back up! We will now be kicking off our Disneymania Trip with the Abracadabra magic show from Disney Live on June 17th here in Atlanta! We then leave for the World on June 19th! We are hoping that the show will give us a pre-Disdney fix for those last couple of days that always seem so long just before the trip!

Musicgirl, Thanks for the info. on kids activities at CC. When we did our 7 night Eastern cruise on the Magic in September of 2004, we missed CC because of hurricane Jeanne, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We chose this cruise to make sure that we get there this time.

Shirley

No problem Shirley!! I hope you get to enjoy it twice as much this time!!!

If anyone would like to use the picture with Minnie/Mickey looking at the ship for their magnet, Carole sent me the picture. I think I might get to work on some of those!!

Now, I found us on p.2. WHATTTTTT!!! Yes, I said p. 2! Is everyone done planning already????? I said we would make it to 100 pages by the cruise. Now get to posting!!! :teeth:

Hi! Hope all DDD's are doing well! My DD now wants to get her hair braided on the ship. Does anyone know where the hairbraiding station is? The Navigator said it was open at 12:00 to get an appointment on 6/24. Guess I now have to do the ressie rush after all! :confused3

I'm not sure where the hair braiding stand is. When they had sign ups before, it wasn't until 5 and that was down by the theater. Maybe someone will know on the other board if no one here knows.

On our last cruise the hair braiding stand was by the Goofy pool, but I think reservations were made via the Vista Spa. They also have hair braiding on CC.

Make sure you bring sunblock to the beach/excursions and cover all the exposed skin between the braids...

Anybody know of a good sunblock to use in the hair that won't be too greasy or goopy? We now have 25 days of school left! We are slowly getting closer to DfD-Day! ( Depart for Disney Day) The closer we get , the more excited we get!
