06/08/08 Magic And Mickey To Mexico!!!

Hi everyone. We will be traveling with all of you and I just wanted to introduce my family and myself. My name is Kevin and I am the husband, my wife’s name is Nicholle and my daughter’s name is Skye. Skye will be turning 12 the day before the trip. Because of her birthday we are going to spend Friday and Saturday at DL and CA. We will be staying at the Grand California while we are visiting the parks. The trip will be a surprise for my daughter until a week before. We are telling her that my wife and I are going on a trip so we have to have her birthday party a week early. Her “present” is going to be a handmade book that will reveal the surprise. We have surprised her before but this one is going to top everything. I have to get her passport without her getting suspicious.

Once my wife and I started planning this, back in early Jan, I found this website and its wealth of information. Armed with this information we gave the information to our travel agent, my wife works in travel, and she got us exactly what we wanted. We will be staying in 8056.

We are very excited about this trip and yet angry when I think about how long I have to wait until this trip. I like to plan, but a year and a half is just mean.

What a great birthday surprise for your daughter - and what a beautiful way to present it, with a handmade book. It does seem so far off, but it will be here before any of us know it!!

The passport issue should be fairly easy. All Americans should have a passport and since she doesn't have a drivers license yet, this would be her official form of ID! (or something to that effect!!)

Again, welcome, and although this thread is quiet right now, we hope that as we get closer to sailing date, more 6/8/08 cruisers will find us and we can start planning DisMeets, etc.!!

Hey Kevin! Welcome!! What a great surprise for your daughter! I know we'll be getting down to the wire by that time, but you'll have to share pictures of the surprise when the time comes.

I think my family will be staying at the parks after the cruise, rather than before....school schedules!


You're just down the hall from us, we'll be in 8532. Well, down the hall and across....... You're on the "good side"....you'll get to see more of the coastline than we will.

Not packed. I do have all the laundry done so that everyone CAN pack. I had to change my packing list when the weather up there decided to be nice instead of rainy. Fine with me!!!

I'm hoping to get some good pictures! We're doing a "night tour" of Alcatraz, so I hope I can get some good shots of the Bay as the sun goes down. Of course, I'm lazy, and have decided not to haul the "big" camera, so that might make a difference in my pics. Oh well.

On GMA this morning, I saw the giant Valentines Day Pillow Fight in San Francisco!!! (you missed it by a couple days!) Not sure if that's something I'd be interested in doing, but it sure looked like they were having fun!!!

Hi! My name is Kim and my daughter and I will be also joining everyone on this wonderful cruise. We are really excited. We are taking our first DCL cruise in June on the Wonder. The booking of the Riviera cruise was quite comical since I was in surgery for my back that day. I made the surgeon promise to make sure I woke up because I was taking 2 cruises. He found it amusing. When I came home the next day I was on the computer (I should not have...bad move)and saw how quickly things were moving. My hospital paperwork clearly stated not to make any important decisions for 24 hrs. So I didn't email my TA until the next day. She tries to talk me out of it and says I should take my daughter to WDW instead. In my still drugged up haze I told her my back was killing me and I am sure I will be fine a year from now but I have dreamed of the Mexican Riviera and my daughter's birth culture is there so if she won't book it someone will. So she was on the phone with Disney for an hour. I really didn't feel sorry for her since I read what alot of you went through and I told her that. I did all of this in my drugged kidding state of mind. Since I am a teacher we are in a cat. 11. I want to fly in and stay in Beverly Hills a night or two before. That is my dream. I don't know if that will pan out or not. Mama gets her big pay raise next year so we will see. So that is my blog and I am dreaming for next summer. Is the weather good in June for the Riviera? I have already emailed a guy named Frank Matzalan who does tours. I am definitely interested since it will give my daughter some sense of her background. Going back to work in Aug. won't seem so bad.

Welcome Kim & daughter!! This will be our 3rd Magic cruise, but first Mexican Riviera cruise. Stacey is in San Francisco this weekend, but when she gets home, she can probably give you lots of info on the Mexican Riviera.

We've heard only good things about Frank from Mazatlan - I'm sure he'll be a big help in either giving us tours or helping us decide where to explore on our own.

Sounds like you had quite an adventure booking the cruise!! How's your back doing? Are you still 'drugged'?!! Nothing wrong with a Cat 11 - you & your daughter won't spend much time in your room anyway. How old is your daughter and what's her name?

We are joining you guys as well That is if my bank account is still functioning after our ABD/Med cruise this summer Iam the "aunt" we will also have my mom, neice and nephew, brother (or ex SIL - whoever wins this time), my cousin, her husband, 3 kids and her mom(my aunt). A decently dysfunctional bunch - but fun all the same! I was glad to find you. Currently "freaking out" over excursion selection for the med, but thought I'd say hi. You guys seem like a fun bunch.

No worries - we definitely understand your need to concentrate on the Med right now. We're just getting started here, so check in with us when you have time. Have a wonderful cruise and please post details (on this thread) when you return home. Then you can start thinking about this cruise!!

Hi all... Been quite busy - welcome to all of the newcomers.... Especially LisaTex - we're on the same Med cruise - so she'll get to meet us.... ummm that is a good thing isn't it???

Anyways - got the call from the TA today - DCL was able to rectify their error - and we got our Cat. 3. 8086 - not a midship - but it's a 3 and we're quite happy....

Had quick trip to London last week to see my son Jason graduate from Advanced Leadership School in the Air Force.

It will be me (Virgil 48 - wow - getting as old as Stacey), DW Frances 47, and DD Lauren 13 at cruise time.
