06/08/08 Magic And Mickey To Mexico!!!

Yes, Laura...how is she? :wave2: Hi...just popped in for a second.

Laura,

How's your step-mom?

Yes, Laura...how is she? :wave2: Hi...just popped in for a second.

Oops! Sorry, I got busy doing other things and forgot to update! Thanks for asking. :)

My Dad called late this afternoon. The doctor told him she did "beautifully" and he believes this will relieve most of her pain. (they actually took her neck bone out and "cleaned it up"!! :scared1:) Needless to say, she has been a nervous wreck the past few weeks. (poor thing) I'm sure she'll be in pain for a couple weeks, but Dad said they'll load her up with drugs!!! He's spending the night at the hospital because she doesn't want him to leave her. (I'm sure he's exhausted - my poor Daddy.) She should be coming home in 2 or 3 days.

Hi Stacey Good to "see" you!,

John's parents are coming in march - John's trying to convince me to go away for a few days...His ideas and mine aren't meshing...I'm trying to convince him we need to visit you...He's seeing right through it - it's spring training time! :rotfl2: He wants to book a last minute Grand Princess cruise - Costa Maya, Belize, Honduras intinerary

Good morning, Monica!

Whichever trip is chosen, this sure sounds like a WIN-WIN to me!! ;)

As much as I would *love* to see you and go to the games, I have to say I'm with John. A cruise beats Phoenix ANY DAY!!
But if you do come.....I'll be at Disneyland with the kids from the 21st to the 25th of March. Come before that!!

sigh, Unfortunately, out of the two adults who will be on this escape, there is only one person who has the obsession with the Cubs. He won't consider a more budget-friendly b & b option for a few days. The ultimatum is cruise or nothing... So, do I be a scrooge and say no? :confused3 Just might have to do some enron style accounting for the next few months...:thumbsup2

course, I said - I wasn't going to pay the same price to do RCCL and the same Western Ports we've done before multiple times before - Costa Maya, Cozumel and Jamaica - just to relax on a boat. (I love RCCL!) Of course, that means shore excursions and hauling out the snorkeling gear...

Oh, darn - you have to go on a cruise!!! :rotfl2:

You can probably get a great last minute deal (since it's not DCL), don't you think? :)

Yep! it pays to call!!! on-line wasn't showing much available - and nothing in our favorite "broom closet" category. They quoted him the same price for guarantee of at least an ocean view (much less than their online rate) for the same price as RCCLs online interior. We'll place a call to RCCL - just to check - the savings will quickly be eaten up in shore excursions. If we can get a better deal on RCCL - we won't have the shore excursions - been there done that - just get me to the beach!

Princess is leaving in April never to return - this would be a great chance to check another line out.

Stacey, Didn't you do Honduras and Belize? Any tips?

Leaving March 17 - missing Texas Spring Break...

You're going for my birthday! How fun! :woohoo:

Yep, we went to Roatan. We hired a guy with a sailboat to take us out snorkeling. But you can easily get a taxi to the West End and lounge on the beach or snorkel. Or pay a visit to Anthony's Key Resort.

In Belize we did ship tours both times. This last time, we did NCL's "Beach Break" that takes you to Bannister Island. We all thought it was a lot like Castaway Cay, without Mickey or power boats....banana boats, etc.
Before that, we did the Shark Ray Alley tour. Snorkel with the sharks and rays and then go to Ambergris Caye. That's where Jay and I did a week long trip many moons ago.
You could just tender to the mainland, and catch a water taxi from there to Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker on your own. We would have, if we didn't have such a large group, and my parents' limitations to worry about.

:tigger: Bouncing back to page 1...

Hope y'all are having a good weekend. Our cold weather is back...It was 80 this week. Our day was busy. John was out the door at 6:00am to shoot a 5k race. I picked up Maggie at 10:00 from a sleepover. John came home at 10:30. Left at 11:00 for Mike's basketball game. Home at 1:30. Left at 2:30 for Maggie's game. Went to another birthday party at 4:00 (laser tag - the dads played too) John left the laser tag - to head to a friend's h.s. theatre class performance of Oklahoma which will also be our summer musical. We can use re-use their set. Kids and I went to dinner with the 2 families who played laser tag and we just got home. whew! Time for the kids to get into bed and pjs and a movie for me!

Whew is right!! That made me tired just reading it!!!

My step-mom came home from the hospital today so I went to their house to see how she's doing (and how my Dad is holding up!). When I left, I went straight to the supermarket and picked up lots of food. I'll be cooking up some meals tomorrow morning and bringing them to their house tomorrow around noon so they can eat. Renee's not going to be doing anything for quite some time. :worried: And my Dad will fix food for her, but not for himself :confused3 He's looking very frail........ it's so hard to watch your parents get old. :sad1:

I certainly know how that feels. :worried: It's really great for you to be there to help, I know they must really appreciate it!
My parents called on Thursday, wanting to know when I'd be coming up to visit. I'm a terrible daughter. I asked them what the temperature was!
20° to our 75°.....I told them I'd see them in April!

I feel lousy. The cold that I've been trying to keep at bay decided to finally get worse, and I guess I also pulled a muscle in my back. I'm falling apart! :crazy2:

Have to get better a.s.a.p.! We're taking the kids to San Francisco for a long weekend this coming week. Staying at Fisherman's Wharf and checking out the sights. The kids have never been to Alcatraz, and I have us signed up for a night tour. You get to see more places with that tour than you do during the day. Jordan thinks it will be creepy and doesn't want to go. Too bad, she's stuck with us!

Rest up and take care of YOU, Stacey!! You've got 4 days -- that's plenty of time to "kick" this thing, but only if you don't push yourself.

I've been staying in and trying to kick this thing. Now today again, the "cold" doesn't seem so bad.....it's just weird.:confused3
I was thinking yesterday that I must be nuts. Our weather here is finally getting nice and warm and we're going somewhere cold and damp.:sad2: But I am excited about it, it's a fascinating place. And I think I hear Ghirardelli chocolate calling my name!

Can I come too. Fisherman's Wharf has some nice places and the Ghirardelli place is so much fun. I want to go. Get better Stacey

Sure! Come on up! You deserve a break, and you're always welcome. Stop in Phoenix and we'll take in a Cubs game!!

Sorry Monica, I just HAD to say that. ;)

Good morning all!

Stacey, I hope you're feeling better. Are you packed yet?!!

L-o-n-g day at my folks' house yesterday. I cooked up lots of food and we brought it to their house; spent hours there assisting. It's going to be a long 6 weeks for my father, that's all I can say. :sad2: I came home exhausted; I can only imagine how he feels. Step-mom told me she's "very cranky" right now. I'd be cranky too, after that surgery. But what that really means is my Dad can do no right! :headache:
