05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

Hi! :)

Wanted to say that my family will be on the May 9th cruise as well! This will be the second Disney cruise for DH and I, and will be our two sons first Disney cruise. DS1 is 2.5 years old and DS2 will be 7 months old. Can't wait to go!

By the way, we would like to join the FE program if it's not too late to do so. ;)

Hi everyone! We will be joining everyone on the May 9th cruise. Our group includes:

Me, Andrea (30)
My Husband, Scott (37)
Daughter, Anna (2)

We are in room #6138

My mother (aka: the babysitter) is also joining us. She is in room #6139

We are looking forward to wonderful trip! This is our first cruise.

Welcome to both of you!!!!

Scottie the bracelets came out great. I know that it took a lot of your time to do this and I wanted to say thanks. We will take care of getting the money, etc to you as soon as you know the final cost.

I am getting so excited as the days are going by. It seems like everything I look for lately has a "cruise need" attached. I got a great new travel bag (to carry day to day like a purse) with all kinds of pockets, etc... I researched and found this one to be great. So at least my bag is ready to go.

I am creating handmade items for our FE. I have the stuff for them just need to get busy with making them. Anyone else making something crafty? (BTW -I am not that crafty but my friend is and she is teaching me.)

Just a note: our little poodle, YachtSea, has a herniated disc and is in a lot of pain and doc doesn't want him to walk for a month - plus he is medicated with steroids, pain pills, and muscle relaxer. This is tough as he is our child since our human ones are married and in their own homes. If you could send a few prayers for him that would be great.

You are all a great bunch and can't wait to get to meet all of you. :yay:

I'm happy everyone is enjoying the bracelets, I will get something out by Tuesday with payment and shipping info.

FE gifts- we are also creating most of our items. The kids decided they wanted to take part in the process so it has been fun family time so far. I am sure your gifts will be great!:thumbsup2

We will keep YachtSea in our thoughts... that must be hard to go thru for sure.:sad1:

What if we enclose a self-addressed envelope and a dollar or two to cover postage? That way you could just take the whole bunch to the post office and have them weigh and meter them.

And if you made 20 or 30 cents, we could call it a tip for all the trouble of organizing things. ;)

If this sounds like even more trouble than stamps, I am fine with that also.

That is perfectly fine by me, it would at least help everyone from having to guess how much their bracelet order weighs.

I will post a couple of options in the next day or two and we can go from there. I will just ask that each person replies to tell me what option they are going with so I can keep track. :surfweb:

So it seems that the more mature I become, the earlier I wake up in the morning. Things become worse when there is something interesting happening, say the first day of a Disney Cruise.

I have heard of other groups of cruisers getting up early and watching the Magic coming back into port Saturday morning. :boat: Is anyone interested in gathering a group for this?

J.P.

Sorry, we wont be able to join you for the Magic viewing this time. We are staying at the Hyatt MCO and have someone picking us up. I can confirm we will be up early that morning for sure... three little kids and three adult kids fighting for the hotel bathroom so we can be first down to the suv to get a window seat for our first view of the Magic as we arrive near port! I believe we will actually be driving past it for starters that morning because we plan to hit the grocery store for a water run then circle back to the port to be dropped off.

Our prayers are with you. Now that my kids are grown and on their own, our two cats are our "children" so we know how you feel.

We (vtinkerbell) are planning on putting together a little gift for each cabin that represents Vermont. We did the same thing on our last crusie and everyone seemed to like it.

Really looking forward to getting away on the crusie. It has been a hard winter for us, very cold and a lot of snow, so just the thought of warm weather and sunshine makes it easier.

Quick question on the water, oh wise one.
Can we carry it on just in the 24-pk package or do we have to put it in a cooler first?

Sorry we can't be there to watch the ship come in too. We're going to be catching a car from WDW to Port. We'll be there early, yes, but no way that early!

Welcome to all the new folks joining the thread - you joined on the right day since today is the cut-off for the FE program! Welcome welcome - see you in 2 months!

Can we carry it on just in the 24-pk package or do we have to put it in a cooler first?

Good question and I was wondering the same the other day. I dont think I have read anything where someone just scanned a sealed case of water thru the xray machine at port before heading up the elevator to check in. Doesnt mean it cant be done, but I havent read it. Anyone else?
I think I have always read of people putting it in a roll-on cooler or maybe a duffle type bag would work fine too if you want to carry it on?

The option we plan to go with, assuming the rule doesnt change again before sailing, is to bring a lightweight empty duffle type small bag with us in a suitcase. We will remove it on Saturday morning and take it in the car to the grocery store. We then plan to transfer the water into the bag and just hand the bag over with our luggage to the porter when we drop everything off. That will avoid having to drag around bottles of water on the ship before the room opens. The water should magically show up in our room later with all the other luggage.

As an FYI:

Disney DOES NOT want you putting water or other "beverages" in checked luggage. They do allow you to carry on what every you can fit into a soft sided cooler, bag, back-pack, etc. that will fit through the x-ray machine. Keep in mind that you need to CARRY this with you until you get to your cabin. This is how Disney keeps people from bringing too much on, and keeps it out of checked luggage.

We were just on the Feb 1st 4 day and the policy had not changed. I have a back-pack style soft cooler that I put all of our beverages in and carry it on. It is a lot easier to have on my back then trying to carry a bag or wheel one behind me.

Thanks for your info! I was figuring on checking in our water based on a post not too long ago from someone who works at the DCL terminal, PorterBob. He posted the info below and it seems like it is just one of those cases where DCL says one thing on their website or email correspondence to guests, but has another set of rules out there too.
A roll on cooler bag or backpack also works great too; we just prefer to check it in when allowed.

Here is the post from PorterBob talking about the meeting and rule:

Just to clear up any confusion on our end. They made it very clear at our last company meeting that we are NOT to take any beer, water, soda, etc. unless it is packed in luggage. They are really coming down hard on the Porters they are catching accepting these items. Do like some suggest and bring it in a small bag you can use for souvenirs later

Here is the PM I sent to him to clarify and his reply:

Hi thanks for the post with the update on checking in bottled water at port. I just want to clarify for myself, if we bring a case to the port and it is in a suitcase or duffle bag, the porter is allowed to take it from us? I just want to make sure I am set for our big trip in May! :goodvibes

Thanks
Scott
Yes, that's how it was explained to us at our meeting

Things that make you go hmmm?!? :confused3

Remember, the porters don't work for Disney. It is true that they will take what ever bag you give them with a tag. They have been told not to take anything that is not inside, which would include water. The Cruise Line itself does not want that much liquid inside bags since their employees take them from the porters and deliver to your room and of course the risk of breakage. It is one way that Disney controls what is brought onboard. They know that if they didn't let you bring something on, you would just check it in your bag anyway. I've never know someone not get what they checked, but they definitely would prefer that it not be.

Good points! I think we will consider both options further and make a final decision when we arrive at port.

Shash and Gary are my brother and sister in law. They are not part of the DIS boards but really want to be a part of the FE. The only thing they are celebrating is ... This is their first cruise and/or anything DISNEY!!!:woohoo: I hope this is what you needed :)

Hey scottie....:worship: :worship: :worship:
THANK YOU for everything! just let me know how much I owe you and where to mail it to.

And to who ever was asking about CANADIANS on board... I live in Idaho now but, I was born in Vancover B.C. :wave2:

:cool1: :cool1: I'M SO EXCITED!!!:cool1: :cool1:
The reality of packing is setting in and I'm a little scared. I can't wait to meet everyone.

This is us:

DIS Name: (Family to Rominet)
Christophe and Valerie
Max (5), Gabriel (3.8) and Sophia (3.8)
Room: 7582
Celebrating: The kids' first cruise!

And this is us, too. You can delete this one:

DIS Name: Rominet
Valerie
Christophe (DH), Max (DS 5), Sophie (DD 3)0, Gabe (DS 3
Room: 7582
Celebrating: ???

I think I was trying to correct Christophe's name spelling from Christopher and Sophie's age and somehow added us twice. I swear I wasn't trying to get double the goodies! LOL!

Guys, my French inlaws are going to be blown away by this whole fish extender thing. Now I just have to explain it to them. This is very American (in a good way). If only I could get them to bring French wine and chocolate from my MIL's chocolate store for gifts! This is their first ever cruise, let alone a Disney cruise! I updated the "celebrating" for these:

DIS Name: (Family to Rominet)
Muriel and Jean-Yves
Maya (7) and Lilou (18 months)
Room: 7574
Celebrating: First Disney Cruise

DIS Name: (Family to Rominet)
Laurent and Sylvie

Room: 7578
Celebrating: First Disney Cruise

DIS Name: (Family to Rominet)
Andre and Ginette (No kids in the room, only Papy and Maminette)
Room: 6040
Celebrating: First Disney Cruise

I'm so excited about this upcoming cruise. I can't wait! I really, really appreciate all the hard work everyone has put into organizing everything!

Thank you DisneyMommy1022 for all your hard work. I know it was very time consuming and a bit hair pulling. :scared1:

I started work on one of my crafts yesterday. I have a looooooong way to go and haven't even started the one for each cabin.

We are staying at the Radisson the night before. Anyone else?

Have many responded to coming to the port to watch the Magic come in that morning?

I just checked and we've been moved from Late Dining to Main! :cool1:
We have been wait listed since last July. I was bugging our TA and she said to be patient. Everything is falling in place.
:cheer2:

Scottie & DisneyMommy1022 -

A big thank you for all of your hard work! :worship: :yay: I knew our first cruise would be fun, but having folks like you help make it even more so .... that's wonderful. I can't wait to meet everyone.

Thanks again.

Jennifer
