04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Have to go through our boardgames and decide what we're bringing (we're not really night club people, so you'll frequently find us at a table somewhere playing cards or games....so feel free to join in!!!

Woohoo more boardgamegeeks!! We're trying to figure out what to bring ourselves. Carcassonne for sure will be in the list but not quite sure what else. Might depend on how much space is left after we pack the "necessities".

We tend to play near the Mickey pool while the kids play in the water.

I know how you feel! We had snow here yesterday too! I went for a walk this morning with my DD and wore my winter coat...it was cold :cold:

I am not packing my winter coat either, hoping layering will work :thumbsup2

I put my parka away a while ago. Just bringing my sweater and a spring jacket. Remember it is the best coast ... ;)

Wow, feeling like we're very behind reading about everyone else's packing. Our family has had extra work and an evening class for me, final exams for two classes for DW, TBall games nearly every night for the kids over the last week, etc, etc.

With these evening classes for DW and I out of the way as of tonight, it's time to get the packing into high gear, finish compiling the FE gifts, get all our travel info consolidated, clean and organize for the house/dog/cat sitter.....

We're leaving Saturday to go to DL for a few days before the cruise so it's going to be busy right up until we walk out the door Saturday morining.

We are very much looking forward to our first DCL trip and our first cruise as a family with kids. The last 3 months have basically been "survival" mode in our house due to crazy work and school schedules, so we're very much looking forward to taking some time with nothing to focus on but trying to have some fun together.

Hello Everyone,

This is a very very good thing.

Well we leave in less than 72 hours...and we are in full on packing and prep mode. Our spare bedroom is piled high with stuff we want to pack----1/3 of it will probably not come, but we'll see. Our bird (Noble Macaw---a small species of parrot) got groomed and picked up for boarding today and tmw we get the keys and directions to the Cat/House/Fish-sitter (she can't also watch the bird, Sarabi, because she is too high maintenance and not very friendly towards women). We're a little nervous because one of our fish extender goodies has not arrived. It's in transit so we're cutting it pretty close! All our other fish extender gifts and magnets for both cruises are done and packed...as is our fish extender. Pirate costumes and tuxes are packed. Have to go through our boardgames and decide what we're bringing (we're not really night club people, so you'll frequently find us at a table somewhere playing cards or games....so feel free to join in!! :thumbsup2). The easy stuff to pack is set out and ready---underwear, socks, shoes.....the actual CLOTHES are a lot harder to decide upon since we're going to hit so many different climates. And then there's the issue of coats.....we are really strongly leaning towards NOT bringing our winter coats. We're used to weather in the 40's this time of year and can survive in layers and so we're thinking we might try to do that for this trip. I mean, how much time will we really be spending outside anyway? Are we nuts? Our winter jackets are just so heavy and bulky and we don't really want to travel with them or pack them!

Don't bother with the heavy coat - just bring layers!!!! We have packed fleece jackets and wind proof shells, also have some sport silks thermals! (I do not even have a heavy winter coat, I just wear layers in the winter!)

Safe travels to all who are leaving early!

Well, I think we're packed...swimsuits and Uggs....this is the strangest looking suitcase, lol! I also have every possible over-the-counter pharmaceutical remedy anyone could need, so if you catch a cold or possibly Ebola, just come see me. I'm sure I have something.

As my DD(5) says...just 2 more sleeps until we leave for Disneyland!!!:cool1:

Hi all!! :yay:

We pulled out our suitcases yesterday and are just starting to think about packing, but the one thing we are packing FOR SURE is our winter coats ... because none of us (except DH who has transplanted from PA) have ever even owned a coat before this Christmas. Living in SoCal, there has never been the need. So we are packing them - even if it is just to take a few pictures of us in coats!! :rotfl::rotfl:

We look forward to seeing everyone next week!! :woohoo:

Hi Everyone!

Can't believe our cruise is ever so close!!!

I've updated the EVENTS page with all of the last minute changes I've received including room changes, event locations, and even the daily blog by zakerdog.

Everything is still in one post for both the REPO and FIRST ALASKAN cruises.

This has been linked to the MEGA LIST under EVENTS - REPO + FIRST ALASKA. :thumbsup2

I hope this helps... Happy Packing and Safe Travels :goodvibes

We are so far behing with just about everything!

Suitcase is out and the easy things are laid out. Now the challenge will be to pack the Disneyland stuff in a separate suitcase so I can leave the other clothes untouched!

Usually I stay up the night before stressed beyond belief. I am hoping I can just be stressed these next 2 days and hop into bed early on Friday night so we can head out to the airport by 4:30! :scared1:

I'm afraid one suitcase will just be boots and shoes. :rotfl2:

We did make one major change for us and will be flying out of Vancouver when we end our Alaska cruise. Now I must cancel the Cascades train and our lodging and arrange pickup a day early. :yay:

We are off and running! HAPPY DAY ALL!!! See you soon! :woohoo:

Should I add you to the Mega List under Pharmacy??? :rotfl2:

That's good to know if we get in a bind. ;)

Safe Travels to everyone!

The lanyard list is now closed for both the repo and the 1st Alaska. Here is a reminder about where to get your lanyards and name badges.

GETTING YOUR LANYARDS AND NAME BADGES
If your name is on this list (except for those on the "not confirmed" list), I have a name badge and lanyard for you. Please make an effort to pick them up.

Name badges and lanyards will be available at the following locations:

In Los Angeles:
At the terminal - I will get there fairly early - you will have to play "Where's Ken" to find me. It probably won't be to difficult - just ask the people with the special lanyards and name badges.

(I've asked Bob of BobandLee to post a picture of Shari and I to help you in your quest to find me)

On Deck 10 - Starboard side (that's the right side of the ship) - overlooking the Goofy pool from 2:30 to 3:30pm - if it's raining, I will move to the Promenade Lounge.

If we can't connect in these places, you will have to call me in room 6584 and make arrangements for pickup.

I will be giving out two sets of lanyards and name badges in Los Angeles for those doing the B2B!

In Vancouver:
Because I'm on the Repo, I cannot guarantee that I will be in the terminal at Vancouver. Therefore, I will be in the Promenade Lounge from 2:30 to 3:30.

If we can't connect at that time, you will have to call me in room 6584 and make arrangements for pickup.

Ken

Or Doubletree San Pedro on 4/26 :)

Ut oh.. looks like another list :rotfl:

Debbie

We'll be at the Doubletree. The Crowne Plaza only had full size beds, which are a bit too small for two people to be comfortable. And I really wanted to stay on The Queen Mary, but my wife has something against sleeping somewhere with a reputation for being haunted.

My father is going to be driving over to spend Tuesday evening with us, but you will have a good chance of running into us Wednesday morning.

I first planned to do this cruise as soon as it was announced, and booked it the day booking was opened. I can't believe it is only one week away!

I can't believe it is almost here!:woohoo: I booked right away, too - it was just by chance I looked at cruises to use our points and here it was! I didn't even know they were announcing West Coast cruises.

Have a great trip over and see you at dinner!

We will definitely bring some card games like uno and blink. We also love word games like bananagrams...and we'll probably bring taboo, buzz word, maybe cranium and scattegories....and then we'll have to see what else we have that's small and will fit in our bags :)

I may join you folks as well for board games. Board games are not DH thing but I enjoy them and don't get to play often. I will be less stressed when we are at the port next week. I realize I have shared a couple of times I am really stressing over flying in the LAX the day we leave. Sue

We're about done packing. Getting ready for bed now (9.30). Taxi's coming at 5.45 to take us to the airport. It's going to be a looooooong day + 9 hours extra
