So, the last week has been extremely crazy, to say the least and many changes, but here is the OFFICIAL WORD.....
My 18 year old daughter Jamie, (she turns 19 next week), has been scheduled to go with me on this cruise from day one. However, she has had this "Dream" to perform at WDW in the College Program. She originally missed the auditions and everytime she contacted WDW and tried to see if she could audition, she was given the "canned" response, of no.....too late......
However, on the maiden voyage of the Disney Dream, we ran into someone we are acquainted with whom we had spent the day in Papenburg Germany on the Disney Dream when it was being built the previous summer. This wonderful person (whom I will keep anonymous) offered to personally give Jamie's resume to the right person at WDW and see what happened.
Well, 4 days after we got off the ship, Jamie had a call from the Director of the College Program and they have been working with her to go through the complete audition process. She completed her dance audition 3 weeks ago with the college recruiters and on Thursday of this week she got the official job offer to work at WDW this summer as a Character Performer.
Great news-She is going to WDW for the summer (she signed her contract 2 days ago) and she reports on..........you guessed it.............April 27th.........
Bad news-She can't go on the cruise. But the opportunity to perform at WDW for the summer which is a dream she has had far outweighs the 2 weeks of cruising.
Even better news-I am 99% sure of the person who will be coming with me in her place, and once the time off gets approved tomorrow, I will be able to share who that person is.
So.....in the end, everything seems to be working out.
Now, if you see me with tears in my eyes at sailaway you will know it is because I will be missing my daughter as we were so looking forward to this cruise together, but of course, I am an extremely proud mom and so thrilled for her!
